We were afraid a downtown restaurant so close to the Haymarket would be packed but it wasn't. We'll be back!"

  • "Located in an unprepossessing one story building but huge inside. We enjoyed our meal, the trout and the beef medallions. Kitchen was helpful eliminating soy to accommodate my wife's allergy. Service was a little too eager perhaps because of training a new person, rushing us a little. This place becomes a country music club at night but we did not stay for that. They had a bourbon tasting as we walked in - how cool is that!"

  • "I made reservations via their web site and table was ready upon our arrival for 8 adults. This was a very convenient feature. As we understand it, the meat is from western Nebraska and cut in house. All portions were ample and delicious. The whiskey and wine list is extensive, but there are few other house specialty cocktails. Upon arrival there was a free wine tasting; very nice. Service lacked; first we waited quite a while to see a waitress, then our appetizers were forgotten. To atone for the lack of service, the appetizers were free and we were allowed to use more Group-on coupons than normally allowed. It lacks a romantic or intimate setting. The bar is small and only suitable for a quick drink before your table is ready."

  • "My boyfriend and I visited your restaurant a couple of weeks ago. I do not remember our waitstaff's name but he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great. My only problem was the menu changing the very next day and not being told that it would happen. There were a couple of things that I wanted to try that I stated I would try next time (they are now off of the menu) and one that I really wanted to get the very next day again as a to go order. Other than that everything including the setting was great."

  • "Awesome food! Bison Reuben, Burger, and Grilled Veggie sandwich all got 5 stars! Service was very attentive... Only drawback was the noise level... Normally I don't even notice the noise level elsewhere... But It's SOO LOUD it is almost distracting... I read that they host live music- can't even imagine how loud that would be. Some simple adjustments to the ceiling would make a huge difference. Otherwise a great place and we'll definitely make a point to stop again the next time we're in Lincoln "

  • "We met another couple there for diner for a concert for Team Jack with Larry the Cable guy, and everything was pretty except for my side salad, I requested a "sweet poppe" or honey mustard seed dressing and what I got was all oil... and some poppe seed and the salad was not iceberg lettus. anyway it was not worth the extra money... steak was good. I wish place would just go buy some salad dressing at the store so we know what to expect... the russian roulet "

I was a little disappointed in the service as we made reservations for Easter Sunday and there were only 3 other tables in there, but the server put in the wrong order. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was just fine for an Easter lunch. "

  • "This was my second time dining at Single Barrel. My wife and I went last fall and were impressed with the food and bourbon/whiskey list. This time was with a friend for a pre-concert dinner. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant was nearly empty and it took at least 10 minutes to get 2 draft beers and 2 bourbons on the rocks. Hardly a complicated drink order. We should have placed our food order with the drink order because it took our server at least another 10 minutes after we received the drinks to come back and get it. Wait time for the food wasn't horrible once we actually placed the order. We both had the burger and quite honestly it's one of the best I've ever tasted. Go for the food but expect to wait."

  • "Everyone loved the food they ordered, it was all prepared perfectly and came out quickly. Server was uninterested and very slow, especially considering there were only about 10 other tables in the restaurant at the time. Drinks were not refilled, drinks from the bar took upwards of 15 minutes to get. At one point we ended up just going to the bar and ordering our own drinks because the server stopped returning to our table. Also did not remove empty plates from our table, even though we stayed awhile after eating to enjoy drinks (which we got ourselves from the bar). The dirty plates were still on our table when we left, an hour after eating."

I am a cider drinker and Emily suggested the Apple Ale and I am glad I took her recommendation - it was pretty good! We ordered the arancini (my fave!), italian sausage dip and pork poppers and all were really good. We both had the potato chowder, my best friend had the wet aged strip with green beans and I had the (mammoth!) 32 ounce porterhouse with french fries and sauteed mushrooms. Finished up with coffee but neither of us had room for dessert. A great evening catching up with my best pal over great food and an awesome server. Definitely would come back when I am in town."

  • "Great use of Nebraska products in food and beer; however, they were out of two of their "featured" beers. Our hamburgers were excellent and our waitress paid a lot of attention to us until the restaurant got busy.. she delivered our entree and we had to ask two different servers to bring us our side dishes which arrived at least 10 minutes after our entree. The side dish was sautéed green beans which were excellent, but all the food should have been brought out at the same time. She was less than attentive. Their feature "puppy chow" cake had really changed since the last time we devoured it: too cold, frosting thick and hard to eat, cake dry and not good. So disappointing after we'd ranted and raved about it. I would go again, but not soon"

  • "The name Single Barrel was making me assume this was a bar first and restaurant second but the bar was almost nonexistent and the restaurant is warehouse style dining. The food is excellent and the whiskey list was decent. The burgers are extremely good and Porterhouse was very good. You will pay for everything on your plate seperately which I found odd but I was expecting to be 100$ lighter in the wallet after leaving and I wasn't disappointed but the wife and I had a good meal an good service. I will be back."

  • "For the high brow hard liquor set this is the place to go (the whisky list is phenomenal), it also satisfies the foo foo drink girls, and plenty of local brews for a mans man. And let's talk BEEF. Exceptional cuts, hung and cut at the restaurant, but they come at an exceptional price too. Want a low cost meal, they got them too. Game day? The bar is hoppin'. Single Barrel worka hard to find and serve great local beers, wines, vegetables and beef. Enjoy!"

  • "This is the 5th time we have been to this great establishment and they still have yet to disappoint us. We were going friday night for a "light" dinner, so i had the Bison Reuben (which is not a light dinner i found out) with cheese grits, truly amazing. My wife had the single barrel burger with potato blue cheese croquets, he meal was also exceptional, everything was perfect. The puppy chow cake was also amazing. We will be frequenting this establishment more often."

  • "I ate there this past Sunday evening with 3 others. The food was great and the whiskey menu was impressive. The problem we had was that it took 45 minutes to get our food. The waiter could tell we were unhappy, and he arranged to get us a 15% discount on the bill without us asking. We plan on going back."

  • "I have been wanted to come here and finally for my birthday it happened. The food was divine, the service was great. Food timing was excellent. The band had to cancel, but as I did not know a band was originally going to be there, the DJ that showed and the music before the DJ showed up was great. Even though I was called and forewarned that there was a party scheduled that night, they did not bother us and we were sitting right by where they set up the bull. I think watching the party members ride the bull was the best entertainment. Everyone in our party thought that was wonderful. :) Nothing but great things to say. I had a great birthday dinner with family and everyone had a great time. This will be a place to go again."

  • "My wife and I stopped in prior to a concert, after making online reservations. Online reservations were extremely simple. Our table was ready right away and we had our drinks in no time at all. Drinks were cheap, by the way. I had a pork chop and my wife had a chicken dinner. The chicken was probably the best chicken i've ever tried. My pork chop was good, not great. The homemade fries for an appetizer are a must-have. The 3 sauces that come with the fries are incredible. Service was great and they rushed us out to get to the concert on-time. Very happy with our experience."
