Sinclair, nestled in the basement
of Le Saint Sulpice hotel, surprised us with the quality of food and attentiveness of service, even though we were the first table seated and there were no other customers at our early hour. Clearly, we were Americans (who have dinner just as the sunsets...) waiting for the Canadiennes to show up a few hours later for their diners. The Chilean Sea Bass was fresh as it could be, an cooked to perfection; crisp skin and tender flakes of luscious ocean. The dessert was spectacular; I don't recall the name. Dried fruits marinated in Grand Marnier, constructed with some panna cotte... For libations, chilled Belvedere was all I needed; my partner had the house pinot noir, which was quite nice as well. Go!"

february 15 and the restaurant was not full. It was lacking ambiance a little bit. But, if you want a romantic diner, it's perfect."

Nous étions un groupe de 6 et
avons pris le menu dégustation. Le serveur a bien répondu à nos demandes, par contre il ne semblait pas bien connaître le menu proposé. Nous devions avoir un moelleux au chocolat pour dessert et nous avons eu un Tiramisu qui était décevant. La musique n'est pas adapté non plus au restaurant, trop bruyante et énergétique, surtout pour la moyenne d'âge des clients. Les plats étaient bien, disons à 7.5/10, sauf le dessert: 5/10."

We were looking forward to a
special Christmas Eve dinner in old Montreal. The ambience was ok, but not exceptional at all. Our waiter was very friendly and made great wine recommendations to accompany our dinner. The food itself was disappointing, my main dish was very dry and lacked flavor, and the salad had barely any dressing leaving only greens. The chocolate dessert was very tasty."

Went for lunch with my wife and
was truly disappointed. Either the wait staff was too busy (and dealt poorly with it) or just disinterested. Our waiter didn't bother offering a wine suggestion. He spilled water each time he poured a glass. He also assumed we'd have filter coffee and I had to stop him from running away to tell him we'd have espressos. The salmon tartare was good but the fish and sea food bouillabaisse tasted nothing. Had to ask for some salt, a thing I NEVER do. My wife had the lamb, which was overcooked. The music was too loud and killed the atmosphere. Snack bars usually play top 40 music, not that type of place. Plus side: the restaurant looks nice and prices are good (25$ table d'hôte including desserts)."

My husband and I dined at this
restaurant for the first time, and enjoyed the pleasant ambience and relaxing feel of the place. The waiter assigned to our table was very friendly and provided top notch service. He also spoke "franglais", which was great (he was perfectly bilingual). The waiter explained to us that the restaurant would be moving upstairs closer to the hotel area. In our future travels to Old Montreal, we shall definitely come again!"

I was here over a year ago and had
the most amazing meal. Came back two weeks ago and the place was empty. After we had our meal, I could understand why. The must have changed chefs or owners or both. Terrible meal Terrible restaurant. Don't waste you time."

3rd time at this restaurant , last
time the food was decent but the service was awfull. This time it was so bad that we actually left the restaurant after our first drink and decided to go somewhere else. To bad, it's a beautifull spot"

We stayed at the Hotel St. Sulpice
(which we loved) and had breakfasts and a dinner at the Sinclair. The food is fine but nothing "earth shattering". The service while friendly could use a bit of polishing. It is little things can make the difference like having the right sized spoon for a yogurt or a soft-boiled egg. We did love the terrace area - it is lovely place to dine and/or have a drink. I would however expect a bit more for a hotel of this caliber and for the price."

We took my husband here for
Father's day brunch. Absolutely no effort was made to make this day special. Food was boring and no thought given to it's presentation, pancakes were drowning in maple syrup. Would never go to this restaurant again."

Sinclair's bar staff offers up
Montreal's best White Sangria - a legendary recipe that has been the buzz of the city's best terrasses since its appearance at Hotel Nelligan a few years ago. The wait staff was friendly and the service was excellent, especially since we were a group of nine. To start, I had a marvelous foie gras torchon paired with one of the better sauternes I've tasted in a while. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection, with the most amazing spanakopita / potato cake accompanying it. The ambience was both cool and cozy, hip yet unpretentious. The wine list was solid, thoughtfully selected with a great range to fit every taste and budget. A great choice to celebrate with friends or equally apt for a romantic dinner. A+."

The terrace was nice, but food was
only ok. Wines where good but very expensive "by the glass". For the same price on the "plateau" you could have a much much better meal. It was not terrible, but I would not go back."

We went to this restaurant as part
of the Montréal en lumière festival. The guest chef was Jason Cichonski of Philadelphia. The food was amazing, the service impeccable and the chef was very attentive and personable. The owner was on the premises at all times. Great experience. Will go again to taste the permanent chef's creations."

My boyfriend and I ate here for
New Year's Eve. The website said that both a regular & tasting menu would be available. When we arrived, we were told that we could only order from the tasting menu. We enjoyed most of our food. The design and decor looked like it was from the 70's, although it was recently remodeled."
