A word from Sinbad's Pier II Restaurant
For more than 35 years, Sinbad's has been a San Francisco landmark and considered the most scenic waterfront restaurant in the bay area. Perched upon the bay next to the historic Ferry Building conveniently located at the foot of Market Street, Sinbad's offers fantastic vistas of Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge.Day or night, it is truly one of San Francisco's most romantic and enchanting views where mighty liners and salty tugs drift by your table to make your dining experience memorable. We have the finest and freshest seafood and wine selections at reasonable prices. Both our outdoor dining and banquet rooms also offer a spectacular view of the bay. The view is so "picture perfect", it is good enough to be a backdrop for weddings and parties.

Sinbad's is a "must visit" restaurant in San Francisco.

Diner Reviews
  • "Nearly cancelled my reservation after my partner made me read all the bad reviews. Glad I didn't.This is not a restaurant for snooty SF foodies. It is a beautiful spot with unpressured service, clean, but dated. The food fresh and flavorful and rivaled most tourist spots at the Wharf. The staff very helpful, and when I asked to be seated on the right so we could see the bridge lights come up, they agreed. I didn't find the service slow, but staff realized we were there for the lights and let us dine at a leisurely pace.It is the perfect place to bring out of town guests, but I was as in awe as they were. The wine list is limited but reasonable, the food is a bit overpriced, but you're paying for the view and it is well worth it."

  • "I was really looking forward to going here, even though I knew it would be a 'paying for the view' thing. BUT, there are MUCH better options if that's what you want. The view was fine, but I don't think there have been any renovations since the 1970s. Even on the tiny balcony where there are some tables, the wire fence was falling apart and so I would never bring my kids out there. The food was not good- I had a tuna sandwich and it was BAD! Seriously, how do you make a tuna sandwich bad? And my daughter got the pasta and it was not edible. It's not even a good nostalgic place- say your taste buds and money and go to ANY of the other places on the Pier."

  • "There was something just not right here. The food was expensive for a Denny's comparable experience. I think it needs to be renovated...both in menu and interior. The view of the bridge was nice and the waitress/bell person were good. But the rest I would say is a good candidate for the TV show Restaurant Impossible... I would give two stars but the food was just so poor and that is truly why you are there."

  • "Amazing service. Right on the water. Hasn't been renovated, but the food and service make up for it."

  • "Good food and excellent service. Has seen better days. Great place to surprise a visitor with the Bay Bridge lights."

  • "Sinbad's Pier II has a gorgeous view of the Bay Bridge. Other than the customer service, that is all I can say about this place. The moment you walk in, it smelled like an old bar with hints of cigar/cigarette smell. The menu seemed nice but they had run out of a few things on their menu by the time it was 7PM. Our waitress was delightful, full of bounce and energy. The seats at the booth seemed dirty, our napkins seemed overwashed, Utensils and dishes were old. There's a valet lot available for parking ($6) which seems a bit overpriced since you're dining there. There's plenty of street parking at the meters if you're patient and do not mind walking a block or two along the Embarcaderro. But the view was absolutely breathtaking."

  • "Not even worth it with a groupon. We came in to an empty restaurant, with a reservation, and still waited 45mins to be seated. The waitress was incredibly rude, and the food reminded me of something I would eat in my high school cafeteria."

  • "Old style classic dinning - interesting waiters, enjoyed CHANG as our waiter!"

  • "Great views of the Bay Bridge with its constantly changing artistic light display. I hope they make this computer controlled exhibit permanent. It is a very aesthetic addition to the bridge that makes it a living artwork. Nice to sip a glass of wine and have a nice dinner while watching the great views of the bay, the ferry boats and the bridge. The food was typical San Francisco dinner house and was of very good quality, not gourmet but quality. Our waitress was outstanding and everyone in the restaurant was very courtesy and concerned that we have a good time. A strong suit for this restaurant, Easy access from all modes of public SF transportation: ferry, light rail, streetcar, Bart, Muni bus etc."

  • "If you're looking for a spot to watch the bridge lights, you can't get any better. If you're looking for good food, look elsewhere."

  • "I had a coupon deal. The waiter was kinda nutty, scattered, inattentive. He gave us the crumpled "special menu" that went along with my coupon deal, and they were out of stuff already by 8 PM. There were limitations on this menu that were not described when I bought the coupon deal - like an up charge on everything over a certain amount. Prices were VERY expensive for the quality & amount of food. The place was clean, had a nice view of the bridge & water, and the host was very cordial. But this is a crusty, old feeling place from another era (my grandparents'), and with the inflated prices and that crackpot waiter, I doubt that I'll go back."

  • "My second time here - the clam chowder is always good, so good that I wish the bowls were bigger. We tried the steak and seafood skewers and a fish dish. Both were great and good quality. The service always seems a bit slow here and I think it was because it was President's Day weekend and more people at out on Sunday evening."

  • "We dined using the Living Social voucher. Our meal was very good. While my sister loved everything, I found my lobster thermidor to be a bit "dry." After reading some of the reviews (after my experience), I had a better understanding of what happened (there were some reviews that indicated too much sauce on food). I submit that there was not quite enough on mine. Other than that, all was fine!"

  • "It's not that you see cobwebs everywhere or anything, but Sinbad's is 20 plus years due for a makeover. And it's not that the food is bad, but at prices north of $25 for most entres, it is not impressive, not in this city. To put it in perspective, I had a $50 Groupon and our total bill (after Groupon) for two was $98. My partner and I looked at each other and said, "What?!" The clientelle on the night we were there could be easily categorized into two groups: tourists and local Groupon holders. I don't think either group was thrilled, although there is a great view of the bay bridge (hence the two stars). . One couple had it right. They came in and order apple pie and ice cream, a coffee, and took in the view."

  • "Having read previous reviews before hand we did not have expectations. The place hit every corner for what a restaruant should not due. Place is really worn down. Like so worn Dow that the lamps are missing light bulbs. The server was nice but way weird and slightly over the top like he knew he was working at a Chucky Cheeses. The food. Quite possibly the worst ribeye I had ever seen. Came out in 2 pieces. Had a charred smell to it. Asked for medium rare came out medium well. Did not return due to me thinking the cooks may spit in my other plate. Wife got the surf and turf. She could not even eat half. Not what it used to be...."

  • "Took hubby and family out for a milestone birthday. The waiter was perfect! Great job, and great sense of humor. He made the occasion just as special for us as the beautiful view of the bay bridge lights! There were 7 of us, so we had a good variety of appetizers, soup, entrees & dessert. Everything was good to great! Their wine sauce for the Captain's seafood plate was bowl licking good; in fact our daughter did just that."

  • "Heard about Sinbad for a while, but have never dine there. Took the wife there and we enjoyed a good meal. The place is a bit smaller then what we saw online, but it was cozy. The scenic view of the bay bridge was great and the food was decent."

  • "We've eaten here many times. The view is outstanding. You get to eat-assuming you ask for a window seat-and watch the light show on the Bay Bridge. The waitstaff is outstanding, very attentive and nice. We like all of them a lot. Food is very good. You won't regret it."

  • "I came here this past weekend for my birthday dinner with a large party. I was very surprised that the service was a bad as it was. Starting off, many of my party was hungry. They put butter on the table and when we asked for bread they said we couldn't get it until after we ordered our food which I found completely ridiculous. The service was slow was slow and our waiter was unattentive and seemed like he had an attitude. Food was mediocre, but the location and view was great! Probably won't go back"

  • "Sitting right in the water at pier2 , with on site valet parking and the best view of the Bay bridge anywhere, you will always enjoy a meal at Sinbads."

  • "Our waiter greeted us by saying he was tired and didn't want to be at work. The waitress at the next table told her guests that she was too busy to talk with them and take their order and she would come back later, they complained, she didn't get it, they left. Hard to get another beer or coffee with the meal. I would not recommend the $7.50 house salad that includes a slice of cucumber, 2 olives and iceberg lettuce."

  • "We booked our reservation on opentable a few nights earlier. Upon our arrival the valet service was right there to welcomed us, the onsite parking was a relief. We were greeted and seated promptly and the staff were all very friendly and helpful regarding the menu options. Our view of the Oakland Bay bridge was stunning, the lights were beautiful. The ferry terminal was steps away. Our food was prepared very well and was wonderful. The biggest surprise was that the prices were within reason. I also understand this establishment is one of the few in San Francisco that is a union shop, again a nice surprise. We all (4) had a delightful evening."

  • "From the service to the lackluster and uninspired food, this was probably the most atrocious meal I've had in 29 years of Bay Area living. The actual piece of fish under the sauce wasn't bad, but pretty much everything else was a disaster. Even the bread, which arrived after asking for it at least 3 times (and it came after the salads were almost done) was like those partially-baked breads found in the freezer case, and you complete the bake at home, except they never baked them. Doughy cold goodness! Bah. Somewhere a Costco is missing a bag of cheap lettuce greens. My mother may have once said "If you don't have anything nice to say ..." so I will say that the carnations on each table were beautiful! Probably left over from Feb 14."

  • "Worst service ever ! I would rather go to Mcdonalds than waste my money to this place . Besides the nice view , this restaurant has nothing to offer!"

  • "My wife and I was booked for Valentines Day on 2/14/14. Worst service, we waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes and we were never approached to take our order. My wife is 7 months pregnant so she's hungry and frustrated. We packed and left the restaurant, but before we left the restaurant I got the managers business card. Duane Stinson. I have not called him but best believe I will call this week. Never going to this place EVER!!!!"

  • "It was the worst service i could possibly ask for. Sure, it was valentines and they were pretty busy but they had the line out the door with open tables everywhere. People with reservations at 7:15 were still waiting, and it was 8:15P.m"

  • "We were really looking forward to Valentine's Day at this romantic landmark but came away very disappointed. The service was absolutely horrible. The food was nothing to write home about either. My wife ordered Swordfish Provencale and it came out blackened. That is inexcusable. We let it go because it took forever to get anyone's attention. Our waiter never once checked on us to see if everything was okay. The waiter brought dessert and didn't bother to ask if we wanted coffee. My wife asked if she could have coffee. The waiter then sped off without asking if I also wanted some coffee. After waiting 15 minutes for the coffee, we flagged down the waiter and asked for the check. For $65.00 per person, I would have expected better."

  • "Place just has really bad food, really bad service waiters where awful and food was extremely over priced. The inside had really bad decoration and old Christmas lights everywhere. I guess the old sang is true "the closer you are to the water, the worse the food". I don't mean to slam the place but just wasn't good and I will not be going back again."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Very disappointing, the service was absolutely horrible. I had to ask several times the FIRST glass of water. The bread was stale, blackend salmon severly overcooked and the prime rib...if it was truly that cut, was served without au jus and no cutting knife. Once I finally got my server's attention, he did provide the proper utensil. I usually give the benefit of the doubt but not in this case, the service across the board was so bad, it definitely warrants a negative review. Others either complained or left and I even saw one person get up and take his glasses to the bar to get another round of drinks!!!"

  • "Our main entrees of seafood pasta and fried prawns were great; my other friend said her shrimp melt sandwich was just ok and she will not order the same again next time. All of us were mesmerized by the view...the bridge lights were beautiful from our table. We will come back."
