Diner Reviews
  • "It is by far one of the most romantic places you will share a meal with your special loved one. The dining area is literally within a few feet of the ocean and faces due west such that you get an unobstructed view of the sunset each evening. The menu is not large, but certainly sufficient for providing multiple entree choices and decent wine pairings. Fresh fish is always available and prepared in several different offerings. Our favorite menu item by far is the bouillabaisse appetizer. It is absolutely the best fish stew I've ever had anywhere. This time we tried the banana coconut dessert and it too was very delicious. Reservations are recommended and the 6:15 or 6:30 times will assure you are seated prior to the sun setting. "

  • "For a restaurant that is supposed to specialize in fish, I have never had a drier piece of halibut. I needed to cut it with a knife. Prices are a bit high, which would have been fine if the food was good. Beach setting is beautiful, although Aruba is very windy. Menus, napkins, hair, etc flying everywhere."

  • "This was a great meal with a fabulous view. Toes in the sand and a sunset are the perfect compliments to a fabulous dinner at Simply Fish!"

  • "The spot is great, ocean front, staff excellent, food is fresh but I would expect more creativity and taste for that price."

  • "The view on the beach was magnificent, the trade winds were a little tough this time of year, you needed to hold onto your cocktail. The shrimp dish i had was inedible and when asked for a lobster dish, they were all out."

  • "steps from the water - beautiful setting, food is mediocre but service and atmosphere make up for it."

  • "Wonderful food, superior service and all steps from the ocean. One of our top 10 restaurants!"

  • "It was the best restaurant in Aruba. This is our 5th time on the island and this restaurant is perfect from the tables On the sand next to the ocean to the incredible food and amazing service. I would give 5 starts for everything. Oscar was the most accodating host and his service was impecable. You can not get any better. This is also the best place to look at the sunset."

  • "We had both the fish specials which were too fishy, not at all fresh tasting. We had the Corvina and Wahoo. The calamari was bland. They also mixed up the side dishes on our order. We did have a delicious complementary chocolate dressert which was the best part of the meal. Dining on the beach was lovely but for the price of the food it left something to be desired. We had dinner the night before at Wacky Wahoo which may have set the food quality standards too high. Right after we finished our dinner the other restaurant at the resort started a show which detracted from the romantic seaside atmosphere."

  • "We had a romantic dinner here and it was simply perfection. The service was great and food was delicious. Right on the beach -- we dined while the sun set."

  • "We celebrated my Mother's Birthday this year. The food was incredible, service was great, and what is better than dinner, sunset, and feet in the sand."

  • "We chose Simply Fish for a double birthday celebration.. Tables are set on the beach in the sand as the sun is setting.. The food and service were amazing. Would love to go back !"

  • "Simply Fish is outside on the beach which sounds nice, but in reality it was too windy to truly enjoy the experience. I spent my dinner gripping my napkin and wine glass for fear that they would blow away. I got grilled salmon which was overcooked. The creamed spinach tasted like butter and the fried plantains were dry. The food was overpriced for the quality."

  • "A gem, a few feet from our villa at the Marriott Ocean Club. There's no reason to miss this great dining experience.....just remember to reeve from home before you leave. We arrived shortly before sunset and were able to have fun taking photos of the sun setting over the water with the boats in the background and the young happy kids dressed in their pretty little frocks enjoying wading in the water. The food was very good. There was DJ music playing oin the background the night we wee there."

  • "the hostess had no idea what she was doing and their "system" left people with 7pm reservations standing around for up to 15 minutes. no one comes to us until we call someone over at 7:30. No water poured, no inquiry about drinks. finally the "helper" shows up with bread and goes to get us water. we ask to speak to a manger, "will the service continue like this, should we leave?" manager said, "do you want to leave, if so, thats your choice". he finally said "sorry", "what can i do?". you could start by bringing us a bottle of wine and having a waiter come over.the waiter was fine. service was good, if not slow, from there. the food was very, very average. . my husband go the smallest piece of Mahi Mahi that I have ever seen served."

  • "From the minute you walked in you were treated to excellent service and attention to detail. We were seated right on the water at a romantic table for two. We both ordered salads, Caesar for myself and captures for my husband. I feasted on a macadamia crusted grouper and my husband had blackened grouper both were awesome! We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Aruba. A awesome experience!"

  • "The restaurant is excellent. Food, atmosphere and service were top-notch. I would suggest reservations by 6:15 so you don't miss the amazing sunset while dining. Be prepared to have your feet in the sand! Don't worry they even have a shoe rack for your shoes. Also bring your camera or phone and the waiter will get a picture of you at your table as the sun sets over the ocean."

  • "Can't find a better place in Aruba. The few is wonderful, staff courtous and food is outstanding. Macadamia Crusted Grouper is the best."

  • "Beautiful view. Service and food somewhat inconsistent.. My wahoo fish was overdone but had a good flavor. We said we were staying at the Marriott.. They should have told us we get a discount.. Have been there before and plan to return. Nice to walk to the restaurant.."

  • "The host was in over his head. The waiter was good. The host couldn't manage the tables and didn't even say hello until a solid five minutes of us standing there because he was busy staring at a screen. We were supposed to go back but we're not this trip. The fish is fresh but didn't care for the sauces. My husband had Cajun spices and his was better. Amazing atmosphere but they need a new host/hostess."

  • "We had a 6:30 reservation. We didn't get our main course until 7:30.the sunset was the highlight of the dinner. Food was not great for the price we paid. Service was slow. We would not go back."

  • "Simply Fish was a very nice treat. Eating at sunset at the waters edge was beautiful. The music was in the background and it was just a very pleasurable experience."

  • "Take off your shoes and enjoy a fabulous dinner at Simply Fish on the water's edge of the Aruba Marriott Hotel. If you come early enough, you will see the most gorgeous sunset ever! You have your choice of fresh fish of the day prepared in a choice of cooking methods. Yum! Even our five year old and ten year old granddaughters enjoyed it ! If you are visiting Aruba, don't miss this experience!"

  • "From the moment we arrived and were escorted to our table on the beach, the ambience and service was amazing. Food served was delicious though pricy. There was live music (saxophone) being played which added that romantic touch. Only negative is related to mother nature as it can be windy in the evening. So be prepared to have your hair firmly secured. Otherwise, one of our best dinners in Aruba. The coconut-banana dessert is not to be missed! A must have!"

  • "We picked this restaurant because it was next to the hotel we were staying at and we didn't want to travel our first night in Aruba. As it turned out we couldn't have made a better decision. Food and service were excellant. We will without a doubt eat there again."

  • "Feet in the sand, steps from the ocean. Good service and food. Should do it at least once! Don't miss out on the coconut cake!"

  • "Went there for wife's birthday with party of 6. Service was excellent, be sure to ask for Oscar. We had the macadamia crusted grouper and sea bass. Both were very good but the main attraction here is the beautiful scenery. Be sure to sit 20 minutes before sunset and enjoy the show."

  • "Restaurant, like all of Marriott resort is under new management in 2014; and everything has gone downhill dramatically in just one year. The location for Simply Fish is the attraction -- right on the beach. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy a meal, if you can get the amazingly clueless staff to sit you at your table. We and four other tables almost missed the sunset because we were forced to wait for our seats for 15 minutes past our reservations -- as the first tables of the night! The food was marginal, at best. The calamari starter was over-cooked, tough and tasteless. Main courses of grilled fish were just OK. I would say go to the small bar here for a glass of wine at sunset and go to dinner elsewhere."

  • "Great experience. Sitting on the beach with the ocean only a few feet away watching the sunset while drinking and eating at a five star restaurant. There are not many places that are able to offer this experience. Besides the setting food was wonderful as was the service. We always have dinner here at least once while we are in Aruba."

  • "Simply fish was always my favorite but this time not so. The fish dishes were "fishy" and the coconut/bananna cake recipe was changed! Very expensive for not a great meal. Sorry"
