Diner Reviews
  • "This was our second visit to the restaurant. Great food in a great setting at reasonable prices for what I call fine dining. However, we were a little disappointed that two of the menu items were sold out by the time we ordered (one appetizer and one entree). Our reservation was for 6:30 so not overly late in the evening. A bit of a surprise for such a fine restaurant."

  • "Designed to showcase Simon Pearce's wares (for sale, conveniently outside of the restaurant), this beautiful restaurant is always busy because it is that good. Our dinner featured multiple courses--and all were exquisite and delicious. The service was also exceptional. Highly recommended restaurant."

  • "Celebrating a birthday with my daughter. Food was terrific and service was attentive. The tuna was perfection and the steak melted in your mouth. Even the appetizers worth a lot of mmmmms and satisfied sighs! Pricey but worth it once in a while!"

  • "We ordered the beet appetizer and there couldn't have been more than 3 small beets on the plate along with some greens. It was very tasty but not an $11 appetizer. We mentioned this to the manager and nothing was done about it even after she admitted that they had some concerns about the portion for this appetizer. Also the most popular entree was crispy duck. Very disappointing as it was very dry. Herb crusted cod apparently was very good though. Bottom line choose your menu selections carefully."

  • "The restaurant at Simon Pearce is truly special. The setting is both elegant and comfortable. As you sit overlooking the beautiful scenery, hearing the rush of the waterfall, you are served wonderful food with glassware made by the artisans you can watch just below the restaurant. It one of our favorite Vermont experiences."

  • "Simon Pearce is the highest-quality restaurant in our area, but it comes at a price (at least for NH/VT). Plan on over $125/couple. Wide variety of excellent entrees, good wine list, appetizers and desserts are great. Served in wonderful atmosphere overlooking the river, waterfall, and covered bridge with local kids jumping into the water. All with Simon Pearce crystal and dinnerware. Attentive but not obtrusive service. Our local favorite."

  • "we had a wonderful dinner here. The service was excellent. When we arrived a bit early, we were seated immediately since the bar area had a private party. The food was perfectly p[prepared and arrived at just the right temperatures. It is interesting to have the Simon Pierce Glass blowing work area in the same building as well as Miranda's fine pottery. All in all, a perfect evening."

  • "If you are familiar with Simon Pearce glass, this is where the artisans ply their trade; and you can watch them blow and mold the glass pieces before and after you eat. Really amazing to watch. The restaurant and shop are right on a waterfall over the Quechee River -- an unbeatable setting and view. But, if you have bought a piece of Simon Pearce glass, you know it's pricey. The restaurant follows this model. The food was good, the portions were small, the setting is amazing. If you go here, do it for the entire experience. The food is good, but not a value without the other parts of the setting thrown in. I will go again."

  • "We have dined at Simon Pearce many times but this was the first time we were with our daughter and grand daughter. This capped a wonderful 4night stay at the Kedron Inn. We were in South Woodstock for the Horse Show and to cheer on our grand daughter who was a competitor. I don't know which of us had the cleanest plate at the end of dinner. To say we enjoyed the meal is an understatement."

  • "Just like the glass, Simon Pearce restaurant generates a high quality product to be proud to say is made in the U.S.A. High quality food & friendly service in a beautiful space overlooking a waterfall on the Ottauquechee River. My wife had the Asparagus & Frisee salad and the Wasabi Pea & Pistachio Crusted Tuna while I had the Heirloom Beets & Crisp Roasted Duckling, then we shared the Walnut Meringue for dessert -- all were outstanding!! We will be back soon."

  • "We had a great time visiting the Simone Pearce workshop, store, and restaurant. The sitting is idyllic, situated along side the river. The selection of entrees was rather limited. The tuna was just OK and the dessert was flavorless. I would go again if I was in the area, but hope for better next time."

  • "We have been to Simon Pearce several times and always enjoyed it. The food is pretty straight forward, but in the past, we've had no complaints. We went again last week with another couple while we were on vacation. My friend ordered the steak medium rare, and they brought her two small slices of overcooked meat for $33. It was almost a joke. I had the duck which was over-cooked , although a generous portion. The two men had the cod which they thought was fine. When my friend complained, the waitress quite pleasantly told her they would bring her a different entree, which they did. However, when the bill came, she was charged for both entrees. It was of course not intentional, but it added to the general feeling that no one cared."

  • "The evening meal here was worth the hour and a half drive from our vacation location in Vermont, and in fact, it might even have been worth the trip from our home state of Texas. The whole experience was dreamy. I followed the trusty standby recs from Open Table diners and stayed on a course of perfection...the cheddar cheese soup, the horseradish cod...all perfect in my view. But, speaking of view, I only have one other to compare it with, and that was in France. For here in the USA, natural beauty and waterfall sounds ranked this place number one. The table settings, just shimmered in the Simon Pearce manner, (those glasses made my wine shine), & the waitresses were careful and thoughtful. A+"

  • "We arrived early and were seated promptly. The menu choices were outstanding. We chose swordfish, the daily special, crispy duckling and roast chicken. All was prepared perfectly and presented flawlessly. The waitstaff was wonderful and knowledgeable about the menu."

  • "My wife and I had a 6pm dinner reservation on a Monday evening for a special occasion. The food and ambiance we're delicious and lovely respectively . Our server really hustled us through the meal though, which was disappointing. Wanted the entire order at once and acted a bit befuddled when we knew what we would like to drink and try for a first plate but hadn't yet picked an entree. We are hardly difficult customers and this is the extent of a stink I'd be willing to make about it, but the cold/hurried approach put a damper on the $192 meal."

  • "the best restaurant! this is a bucket list place that offers a beautiful (albeit over priced) glass shop on a water fall. we have been in Quechee for 22 years and never get tired of coming here."

  • "Our table on the falls was incredible and our experience exceeded our expectations. The waitress was tuned into our needs (we had 3 kids), she made great recommendations and the cheddar soup was a big hit, as was the chess platter."

  • "No fussy- but beautiful elegant dining on a beautiful outdoor patio ( screened) above a waterfall, with the sun going down and the moon rising very romantic. The menu is all local and very seasonal. The food was prepared beautifully and everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed their meal. The rhubarb- strawberry crisp was unbelievable, and this comment form someone who had just spent the day baking at King Arthur. Since we split the salads ( which they will plate for two and are big enough) and were not over the top with Alcohol ( one bottle or wine and 3 drinks) 5 deserts etc. The bill came to $150 per couple including tip."

  • "This place continues to offer good menu selections; great service; scenic views; and historic local opportunities. First choice for a place to dine and browse the glassware creations. Ask for a table overlooking the waterfall!"

  • "This is a very popular restaurant; few tables were available on a weekend even with some notice. One reason; the ambiance - if you get a window table, you either look out at a covered bridge & waterfall, or a scenic country river. But the restaurant takes advantage. The food is very good, but not better than other finer establishments nearby, and the price point is pushed to stretching. Example - an app of beets (four baby beets), with a few greens, sold for $13. Another minor point - Pearce is a master marketer and the restaurant is geared to sell. All the artwork shows store products, and the menu includes mention of the particular glasses, etc. you're served with, in the event you wish to buy them."

  • "A truly perfect dining experience, only wish this restaurant was closer to where we live. Had a fabulous dinner during a recent trip to New Hampshire/Vermont. The food is absolutely delicious, the service friendly, gracious and very attentive. The Vermont Cheddar soup is decadent, worth stepping off your diet, swordfish amazing."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Simon Pearce has lost its edge, and I hope it's only temporary. The menu is uninteresting, and the swordfish preparation that I had was poor. Combining good fresh fish and beans is not a good idea. What has happened to the innovative, fresh, and delicious food that they once served ?"

  • "Once again, my wife and I had a wonderful meal at Simon Pearce. We've been there several times and every one has been excellent. Food is really outstanding but not at all pretentious. Service - consistently excellent is the only way to describe it. Just remember, you have to get there well before the restaurant opens if you want a seat along the outside windows."

  • "Any ten-day vacation needs to have at least one meal in an upscale restaurant, and we chose Simon Pearce to be this summer's memorable dining experience. We had never eaten there before but, based on the restaurant's website, took a chance. Luckily, we had reservations, and were seated promptly, drink orders were quickly taken and delivered, and the service was perfect: efficient, careful, and friendly. From drinks to dessert and coffee, almost everything was perfect. The only negative experience was the soft-shelled crab appetizer, and I can't blame that on the restaurant. I'm not a soft-shelled crab fan but thought that perhaps Simon Pearce would do it differently. They DID it differently; I still don't like soft-shelled crab."

  • "2nd bad year in a row. Last year terrible service, this time terrible dinner despite communicating this with the server. I guess that's it for Simon Pearce. Too bad after 13 years of enjoying myself there!"

  • "We had lots to celebrate and chose Simon Pearce. It was perfect. The Quechee Balloon Festival was happening, so hot air balloons were sailing past our window, together with the natural beauty of the river and covered bridge. The service was perfect--intuitively attentive. The food was perfectly cooked--great duck, halibut and the beet salad was perfection."

  • "This is our third time at this restaurant. The quality of food and service continues to be high and an evening here very enjoyable. The setting is outstanding, too. Only criticisms: the A/C was turned on when it was not needed."

  • "We love going to Simon Pearce. You have to try the Vermont cheddar soup. Your life will never be the same. The chef will give you the recipe upon request. Very friendly. Come as you are. No need to dress up but you can if you wish. Always a memorable trip. Right next to the Quechee covered bridge, overlooking the waterfall."

  • "Simon Pearce is one of the best locations for that perfect romantic evening out in the area. The food and service are exceptional and the view is un surpassable. After dinner take a stroll through the glass blowing studio (located in the same building) and watch the artistic creation of simon piece masterpieces. "

  • "From soup to salad to entrée to dessert -- all were fantastic. We had carrot ginger soup, kale Ceasar, all 3 fish entrees offered that evening, and pot au creme to finish -- all wonderful. And the table is of course set beautifully. "

  • "My husband and I ate here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The table was overlooking the dam and it was sunset, the combination was awesome. Our waitress was helpful, considerate, and prompt. She was there exactly when we needed her, and made sure that our glasses were never empty. My husband had steak, and I had codfish, they were both perfect. Desert was delicious as well. Highly recommended, and though it may be a little pricey, it's worth every penny."

  • "The food was delicious--I recommend the lobster bisque, kale caesar salad, Vermont cheese plate, and the cod. The wine list was ample and there was an abundant selections of wines by the glass. The view is spectacular can't be beat. The service was top notch, never obtrusive. Finally, one of the best parts of the evening was the experience of drinking out of lovely Simon Pearce glassware and eating off of lovely stoneware. In short, a pretty perfect evening in every way."
