It's a shame, but the food was terrible. I would rather go to Chili's; at least you know what you are going to get. For half the price.

Server had no personality or sense of humor. Server/Kitchen communication was missing whereas the wrong entree was brought to me. It turned out that my choice was sold out and server didn't realize it. I had the meatloaf instead - which was super dry and luckily I asked for some gravy which helped a little. My Prix Fixe meal came with a Mousse dessert. It was not Mousse. It was whipped cream with some berries in it. Seriously? The Chef needs to resign. The Front of the house manager needs to train his servers and hire servers who have fun interacting with their guests.

We were passing through Montrose with our RV, and wanted a night out. Luckily, Simmer was listed on Open Table. It was a very slow evening in town, so there was no crowd to fight anywhere. That did not affect the great food and service we received. Great restaurant in a great town.

A surprise find in Montrose, CO, where the next 'good' restaurants are found in places like Aspen. Enjoy the wine list and varied menu. The chef was celebrating Julia Child's 100th birthday with courses that would have made a nice tasting menu. (Perhaps elsewhere she would have offered it that way.) Beef medallions & pasta dishes were very good. Fellow diners questioned the hunk of beef (too think to cook properly all the way through to the medium rare temperature ordered) and the meatloaf, while good, should have been superb to go on this menu. Please note, this is picky grousing about a place that is really a neighborhood gem, with the best wine list in town. I don't go to Montrose often, but when I return I will look for Simmer.

It was our firsh visit there. The owner made himself known to us and was welcoming and fun to talk to. The salmon was some of the best I have ever had! And I have tried it all over the world. It was fresh and cooked perfectly! The greens were all fresh and tasty. Our grandson was with us and the owner went out of his way of accommodate a tired and picky little boy! I will go there again whenever I can! This is definately a great addition to the community! Thanks.

This place is a true gem and one of the greatest finds on the Western Slope of Colorado. The food was absolutely delicious and the friendly service made the experience such a pleasure. We are already planning our next reservation!

The service was great. The food overall was just OK. My wife and I both ordered salads to start with that were soaked in Balsamic Dressing. My Wifes Burger was a good average burger. My Meatloaf was fantastic. Execellent flavor and very moist. The let down of the night was dessert. We ordered Beignaits to split. They were hard and very hollow. It seemed as though they were sitting in the back for hours. We just had water with the meal. The meal was very over priced for what we recieved, but the service was well timed.

The first two times we ate there it was outstanding. This time it was less so but it is hard to write for four people. One didn't care for the fish, one wished she had not ordered the prix fixe dinner but it was ok. My hen was good and the rib eye for the fourth was very good. The meal this time just wasn't as good as the two times before so a little disappointed but we will certainly return. It is a very good restaurant with excellent service.

This was our second visit to Simmer. We met some friends there for dinner on a Friday night. Prior to sitting at our table we had a glass of wine with breadsticks and fresh basil pesto, mmm. For dinner, we sat in a comfortable, cozy booth in the back of the restaurant. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is lovely! All 4 of us did the Tour of Spain, which was a four course meal with wine pairings for each course (if desired). The food was delicious! The presentation of each course was beautiful as well. This restaurant is fast becoming our favorite! A delightful gem for our town of Montrose!!

This is our first time at Simmer. Our experience was very good. The food was great and the service as well. Staff was friendly and courtesy. The atmosphere is quiet with dress casual+. Wine pairings were excellent. Cost is quite high for this community but we felt it was worth it for this occasion. We had a very nice time. We have found a place for our special dinners which has been missing from our choices for sometime. Even our big city son(ecletic)would like Simmer and that is saying something.

I had talked my wife into taking me to simmer for dinner, for my birthday, just to try it out. The food was good, service outstanding, Cody good help, etc. However it is way, way out of our price range. We spent the equivalent of a weeks food budget on one meal. Good as it was, I can say we tried it, and now we know. Good luck with the future.

The menu is limited but fresh and delicious. You can select the chef's specials from the 5-course fixed price menu or the same menu with wine pairings per course, or from the standard menu. My way of determining the quality of a restaurant is looking at their appetizers. If the appetizers are run of the mill poppers and onion rings it's generally not a to-notch restaurant. Simmer offers fresh and innovative appetizers that are appetizers not fillers.

My experience was enjoyable, however there were a few imperfections. In Montrose Simmer is certainly a five-star establishment but compared to the entire Rocky Mountain region, which is how Simmer is categorized, the experience can only be rated as a three. I find that on internet review sites four and five-star ratings (and twos and threes for that matter) are often given out too easily. Reasons why I'll hold back the four or five-star for Simmer would include paper napkins, limited wine list, overpowering spice on one dish, a bit of the tail still present on the trout (go one way or the other), and a clearly inexperienced server. Though to her credit she was genuine and she seemed to take her job seriously. She just needs more time.

We had an excellent experience at Simmer. The manager greeted us and was very personable. We decided to have a tapas dinner of three appetizers and they were each distinctive and very tasty. They routinely provide breadsticks with the best pesto we have ever tasted. The tables were nicely spaced so that we weren't on top of nearby diners. We actually sat in a very comfortable booth. From our search of the web, Simmer is apparently the best restaurant in Montrose.
