I schedule a lunch meeting at Silver Trumpet knowing that I could depend on great food, good service and a calm atmosphere. I was highly pleased on all counts. I suggest that you try the "special of the day" since it is always something quite unique and always delicious. Great spot and the Bar is a favorite late afternoon place to unwind.

My friends and I had another great dinner at Silver Trumpet. The food and service are always good or better. On this visit we enjoyed two wonderful entree salads and a couple of salmon dinners. Everything was very good. This is also so very convenient for people attending performances at SCFTA. You can park in the restaurant parking and walk across to the theatre and retrieve your car afterward. This is a great place to dine.

The Silver Trumpet is almost there .... environment, ambiance, food & service, but still rough around the edges. At this point, it's just skilled management that needs to pull together the details! They're in the best location for going to the theatre, but still a full grade below Scott's. The food is good, but it's mostly missing minor service oriented details... relatively easy to fix ... but, we've been there 5 times -- & still the same.

I chose the Silver Trumpet because it was quiet and a comfortable place to catch up. I made reservations from my iPhone and we were seated right away. We sat outside under an umbrella over-looking a pretty lake. The menu had something for everyone; salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. The waiter came right away and took our drink order. He was very attentive throughout the lunch and when he found out there was a birthday he brought a complimentary dessert. We stayed 3 hours-( there were open tables for other guests and we tipped well.) We never felt rushed and the waiter didn't made us feel that we were there too long-even though were were! They will validate your parking ticket - The food was well presented and good-excellent dessert.

The food was great, but our waiter could have been more attentive. Other waiters and the host seemed to be more concerned about how we were doing and addressing our needs. In fact, these other people were doing a better job of taking care of us than our own specific waiter.

Ordered the Mac and cheese short ribs and it was terrible, a flavorless gooey mess. It should be taken off the menu. Their food is bland, nothing special. The plating is not up to par either. They need to revisit their menu or get a new chef. The waiters seemed clueless. Deer in the headlights. Also there was a significant amount of dust on the light fixtures which was very noticeable.

Dinner was very good, service excellent. Everyone in our group would go here again. We made a reservation through Open Table but the six o'clock time slot was not available so we had to take 5:45 instead which was a bit of a push getting there after work. The restaurant was not that busy so I couldn't understand why the 6:00 slot was not available. It worked out ok as we were going to the theater and it gave us plenty of time. Would recommend to anyone especially if you are going to the Performing Arts or South Coast Rep...great location.

Hi~ We visited Silver Trumpet, 4 ladies, prior to seeing Ghost at OCPAC. They were having a wedding or reception out on the patio, and it looked lovely. Everyone was having a great time. We ate dinner inside, and it was very nice. The decor was lovely. Our waiter was very perfunctory, not real friendly, but when I started calling him by his name, and being friendly to him, he remained the same but gave us good service. The wait staff was bus outside, and inside it was very slow. Perfect for us, as we wanted to eat, drink and get to theater. We are going again! Enjoyed it.

We stop first at the bar and the drinks were great and the service amazing. An hour later we had a reservation for the dinning room. Place almost empty. Just one table besides us. Food was bad I ordered an Achiote Steak medium. Meat pretty much raw and completely soaked in vinegar. It was Impossible to eat it. My husband ordered a filete mignon supposedly was served with a demiglace sauce. They forgot. ANd on top of that when he asked the waiter to bring him some. It took more than 15 minutes and the chef sent aujuis (watery beef broth).

This was our second visit. The food was very good but we will not be back. The kitchen crashed on filling orders. We allowed 1.5 hours for dinner and barely made curtain. A woman who ordered the pre fixe walked out when she had nothing after 45 minutes. Our server said it has been worse. In his ten years of experience this is the most unorganized kitchen he has ever seen. The noise level was very high and we could barely here each other. They are close to the theater and parking is included but do not go here if you are concerned about time.

This place needs serious work. The decor is awful and causes terrible acoustics, and the staff needs some real training. I feel bad for some of them as it seems the restaurant is setting them up to fail by putting them on the floor unprepared. I'll never be going back and wish I had chosen a different place to eat for my fiance's birthday. This place sucks. Wasn't sure how to rate the noise level and annoyingly loud (despite having very few people in the place) was not an option.

My husband and I have been going to the Silver Trumpet for pre-theater dinners for a while. There was always a problem with getting your food fast enough. When I booked this last time I let them know we couldn't be late. When we got there they were very conscientious and suggested the new prix fix menu. It comes out faster and is just as good as the regular menu. I had salmon rice and veggies and a green salad. The desert choices were flan and chocolate cake. My husband got the cake, pretty bad. He said it was like cafeteria cake. My flan was pretty good. My point is they are working to improve. I have always liked the food and ambiance. Plus you can walk to the theater and leave your car. They validate. Good staff and a good night.

I took my kids to see Book of Mormon on Sunday night. The play started at 6:30 and we had reservations for 5 pm. We were seated immediately (I didn't know the bar area opened at 4 or I would have been there at 4). We ordered dinner as soon as we sat down (no drinks and our waiter knew we were seeing the 6:30 play). Appetizers came right away. The bacon wrapped dates and my soup were delicious. Then the problem started. No dinner. Our waiter made excuses "we are only waiting on his burger", etc. Burger finally came and was well done, not medium rare. Wish I had more space for more information. Busboy Eddie amazing, along with Richard Ferber manager. 40 min to get dinner was not acceptable, knowing we were in a rush.

We went to the Silver Trumpet before seeing the Book for Morman. Our waiter, who was very helpful, advised us to get our order in fast because they can get backed up in the kitchen. Plus, they had a couple of events going on. The restaurant got busy and it took a little longer to get our order in than was probably safe. That meant an hour after we got there we were just getting our food and we needed to leave within 10 minutes to make sure we were not rushing to get across the street and to the show. The food itself was fairly good. The date appetizer (wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Chorizo) was very good. Unfortunately, all of our meals arrived cold. We talked to the manager and he did give us 25% off. We made the show, barely.

I've dined at the Silver Trumpet several times. My last experience was great and the menu had improved significantly. This time on a Thursday night the service was terrible. They apparently had a large noisy group and provided service to them before serving our twosome, even though we arrived earlier. We waited almost a half hour after ordering for our entrees. My asparagus had a clear overdose of black pepper and was inedible. I later ordered tea and dessert. After waiting for the tea and then finishing it, my dessert still hadn't arrived after another 20 minutes. So exasperating. I can only say the service is highly irregular and we won't be going back to the Silver Trumpet for some time.

The ambience was fantastic and so was the service. The food was tasty and plentiful for the Mother's Day Brunch, but definitely not worth $53.00 per person. Normally they serve smoked salmon for brunch, but removed it on Mother's Day and bumped the price way up. That was a big surprise and disappointment. We will go again, but not on a holiday.

I've stayed away from The Silver Trumpet as the ambience was half good and half garden furniture...a little cold. The food was not memorable. This has changed. The entire interior is soft and warm. The smoky mirrored back wall ensures that everyone has a good view. The food is much more interesting, better prepared, and the service outstanding. This restaurant will be part of my regular rotation when I'm at the Performing Arts Center which is often. I'm now recommending that you try this venue or if you've been there before, give it another chance.

Second time at this restaurant, only went back because of convenience for pre-show dining. Both times, the food came out promptly initially but somewhere along the line the service lost momentum and we barely made it to the show on time. Food is decent. The heirloom tomato and avocado salad is beautiful and refreshing and the locally harvested veggie chips disappeared within minutes. The short rib mac n cheese appealed to the kids and the kid in all of us.

Great location for a Segerstrom event and the ambience was great! Service was good. Due to allergies, we asked about the bread, and we're told the chef makes it daily (good) from the cheapest ingredients he could find (bad.). Breadsticks were supposed to come to the table instead, but never arrived. Ordered bacon-wrapped dates (exceptional). Ordered the salmon salad, which was split at the waiter's recommendation. Way too much kale on the plate and very little dressing, making it very bitter. (More dressing was supposed to arrive, but never did.) Entrees were both very tasty and moderately portioned, but there was little difference in the salmon in the entree and the salad--disappointing.) Will have to try again before recommending.
