Everything was going well until it came time for our entrees. There was a long wait for the main course. However our server and the manager were very kind and forthcoming about the issues. They did everything possible to make sure we were still taken care of even though we were waiting. The food was amazing! Besides the wait for the main course everything was great. She had filet, I had the pepper steak (large peppercorns made it slightly too strong of a pepper flavor for me). My steak had some gristle on one end but not every steak will be perfect. My wife loved her filet. Jeff, our waiter was very good and knowledgeable. The one downer was their mac n/ cheese was not very cheesy. It had a strong garlic flavor and not much of a cheese sauce. The manager took it off the check without discussion! The staff was pretty good about accommodating our 2 month old so we wouldn't bother the other diners but allow my wife to nurse the baby in comfort. Thank you.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden Gem in RichardsonWe were surprised to hear that Silver Fox is owned by the same people who own III Forks. It obviously does not get near the publicity for whatever reason. The menu is similar (they even have the III Forks Salad) and the food is just as good...but you don't have to deal with the over-crowded atmosphere. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine, a crab cake (loaded with lump crab meat), seared scallops as an appetizer (amazing and huge!), a wedge and silver fox salad, and a couple of Filets that were prepared to perfection. There are not that many 4 or 5 star restaurants in Richardson, that we are aware of, so we consider this a bit of a hidden gem.
