Diner Reviews
  • "Wife treated me to a birthday dinner. All the dishes sounded delicious, but we both always get the chicken fried oysters, which were top notch. Really enjoyed this meal!"

  • "The waiter was well informed as to the dining choices. The food was amazing. However, the fact that we had a Groupon precluded us from taking advantage of a 1/2 price wine (bottle) special, which was disappointing. Although Groupons are only valid for food, we could have paid for that separately, we just didn't think of it and the waiter did not suggest it. No matter, it was a delightful meal in a wonderfully appealing restaurant."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Silo. we were given a gift card as a gift and we had a great time. The waiter's recommendations were great and our meal was amazing. Thank you for the awesome service."

  • "Never disappointed in our dining at Silo's. The food is always well prepared and eye appealing. We have always received the best service. The top of our list for San Antonio restaurants."

  • "You must have the chocolate soufflé. Chocolate, cinnamon, warm, wonderfulness!!"

  • "We recently ate here for the first time (for lunch) and were impressed with the food. Service was great and the prices weren't in line with the upscale feel of this place. Overall a great restaurant experience."

  • "We have not been disappointed yet! Every visit to Silo has been a delightful experience. On our most recent visit, we began our meal with spinach salads. The addition of apricots and raspberries to the traditional spinach salad was a treat. For dinner, I ordered the seared sea scallops in beure blanc. The scallops were cooked to perfection and their flavor was nicely complimented by the accompanying garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. My husband was equally pleased with his shrimp and grits. We completed the meal with the raisin bread pudding - just the right amount of sweetness to finish the meal. We will be back soon!"

  • "Outstanding food and service! Enjoyable in every way from beautifully presented food to attentive service! Appreciate the new menu selections! Always, a delightful and delectable dining experience!"

  • "food was delicious, the lamb loin, grilled fish, pork shank and fillet was perfect. Didn't care for the coconut pie......... just cream with a bit of coconut, would of expected the dessert to be a lot better considering the appetizers and dinner was amazing. The service was excellent."

  • "As usual, the Elevated Cuisine was outstanding. The server was great and came at just the right time to refill our glasses and to check on our needs, if any. The food was outstanding and well seasoned! It was cooked to order just as my guess and I liked it. I will definitely keep coming back and recommend to my friends. So far I have not had a bad experience."

  • "Silo is a hidden neighborhood gem. You really have to know about it because doubtful you would go in. The building has an active bar on the bottom floor, but up one level on the main dining area is lovely and quiet-great food and service. I will definitely return on my next trip to San Antonio."

  • "We had the lunch special which was a red fish and it was outstanding. Cooked perfectly and we loved it! We'll definitely be back..."

  • "MOST favorite place in Alamo Heights--EXCELLENT food & relaxing, yet cozy, environment. I had the prix fixe meal for $29 & got melt-in-your mouth salmon with grilled asparagus & mashed potatoes with lumps of crab meat, fabulous spinach salad, & who can resist the warm finger-sized breads? for $3 more I could have splurged on a dessert of coconut cream pie, chocolate mouse or creme brulee and that was my intent, but my meal was SO satisfying I had NO room for dessert. The wine list is very plentiful, we had some great whites with our dinner, 6 friends in our group, shared and sipped, it was a FUN night. our waiter was fantastic and very attentive to our needs, overall a GREAT evening!!"

  • "I put in the notes for my opentable request that I'd like a quieter back corner table. As we were being seated, that back corner was actually surrounded by loud people, and the host changed us to a quieter area. Amazing food all around, and some very unique options. Right before dessert, I asked my fiance to marry me, and soon after, they brought us complimentary champagne! The waitress was very knowledgeable and professional. Overall, the experience was PERFECT!"

  • "This is the most dependable and consistent restaurant in the city. That is meant to be a big compliment. We always enjoy the food and service at Silo; both locations. I know that when we dine here we will leave satisfied after a good meal and very good service. Thanks, Michael Benedum"

  • "Some restaurants just know how to keep revitalizing their customers, while keeping their quality high, and Silos is one of those. After all of these years, a trip to Silos is still exciting, with great signature dishes, but new chef's nightly recommendations every time you go. I took my husband there for his 60th birthday and we loved it. Got great service and every dish was perfection. Of course, we had to try a little of everything so we "rolled" out of there but we talked about it all of the way home. You can't beat their ambience. Definitely romantic and stress free. Their great bar was hopping downstairs but we didn't even know it until we left - the sounds never carried up to us! We highly recommend it - Silos is still a dining gem!"

  • "Pretty innovative for SA-we enjoyed the variety of small plates and entrees. The filet that I had was perfectly cooked. Everything came out at the right time and server was attentive .f"

  • "Party of 6 drove into San Antonio looking for evening of fine wine, food and friends. Chose the Silo because of its reputation. 2 diners had eaten there before and wanted to share their experience. Not a good idea. 3 of 6 meals were marginal at best. 3 Beef tenderloins, tho cooked medium rare were dry and lacked flavor. The lamb special was so dry the diner left half on the plate. The fish special was delicious. But having said that, this party of 6 will skip this restaurant on next trip to town! Too many good places to eat in SA to waste time and $$ at the Silo."

  • "The food and ambiente was excellent, so was our waiter. We got the wine bottle half off, dessert on the house and used a groupon. The fact that we paid so much less for a great meal made us even more happier and we definitely are coming back."

  • "Thanks to our server Barney for making our dinner memorable and making some great recommendations. Try the coconut pie for dessert."

  • "After the tricky parking and confusion with the downstairs establishment, I was happy to arrive at a quiet spot for lunch. The menu was fun and my choice was spot on. The shrimp were few but high in quality - my preference to a plate full of frozen mystery meat. The waitress was attentive and the dessert was FABulous."

  • "Silo is wonderful ! First time customers and we will be back ! The scallops are the best I've ever had ! Only thing we didn't care for was how close the tables are to each other. A little more space would be nice."

  • "Stephanie went out of her way to accomodate a special menu request."

  • "We discovered Silo via a Groupon. As we had never been, we decided to try it out. Such an amazing find! The service by the staff is top-notch, and the food is truly an experience to be had. Been back since to try different plates, and each one has yet to disappoint! Silo has earned their reputation for fine dining."

  • "This has become our favorite restaurant in town. The food and service are always amazing."

  • "Service was disappointing. Only two servers and ours were overwhelmed. I had a fish special which was good but under seasoned. and sllighty over cooked . My friend's steak however was perfectly cooked."

  • "I always enjoy dining at Silo in Alamo Heights. The food is tremendous, the staff is very courteous and expedient, and the setting is perfect for dinner with your significant other. I like to try a different dish every time I go, and I have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a San Antonio gem."

  • "Great food...the crispy duck spring rolls are a MUST! I could have eaten another plate for my dinner. Pork shank was fall off the bone! My husband liked the lamb, not sure he loved it though. Service was great, only issue was the bathroom was way downstairs and you had to walk all the way across a busy loud bar to get to it. Also the tables are all very close to one another, I was grateful no one ever sat next to us cause we would have been right on top of one another. Other than that food was great and that's what matters!"

  • "This is a great place to celebrate birthdays for small family and criend's events. Fine dining with good cocktails and wines."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "Great little restaurant that is deceivingly small from the outside. Downstairs bar, upstairs dining area. This is nice as it cuts any noise. There are other expensive restaurants near here that are too loud (Fleming’s). Food was fresh, tasty and excellent. Portions were perfect, not too much, not too small. Coconut Pie is a must, great desert and crust."

  • "When out - of - town guests wanted to try a unique San Antonio restaurant, we recommended Silo. Our table ordered the 5 spice duck, scallops, pork shank, and chicken breast. Lots of oohs and ahs ensued. We all ordered dessert too. Yum!"

  • "Wonderful way to spend my wedding anniversary! Great food, attentive and well trained staff!"

  • "Restaurant is on the second floor and an elevator is provided. The ambience was unexpectedly great. The noise level was great until the band started playing downstairs at the bar about 10:15. It was a late dinner. The food was great. The service was a little slow but it was late and I think they were beginning to close up. The restaurant is fairly expensive but in line with what you might expect for great food with an excellent presentation."

  • "My wife and i had a wonderful first time experience at the Silo. The service was impeccable, the wine list extensive, the food exceptional. It is always an enjoyable experience when the service and delivery is slow and methodical. Our waiter watched our table from afar, pacing the timing of the salad to our pace of enjoying the appetizer; then, the soup to the salad and so on. It is so delightful to relax and truly enjoy the evening out."

  • "The food was good and the wine list was great. However, not a very romantic place for the Valentine's night date as we were jammed in with other people...essentially sitting together with other couples. Further, our waiter seemed beat with the evening, and although nice, he kept forgetting things, bringing dishes out of order, forgetting drink orders, etc."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The seating is crowded, in my opinion. The food is excellent! I tend to try something new everytime I come here. Try the fried oysters! The service is always friendly and very prompt."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "Signature chicken fried oysters were outstanding as was the pork chop and the Parmesan crusted Sea Bass. The coconut cream pie on shortbread was light and a perfect ending."

  • "As always Chef Padro, Barney, and Joseph were wonderful. We had a great time, thank you to all!"
