Diner Reviews
  • "Had a table for 4 before a concert. Seated promptly, but had to keep asking who our waitperson was. They gave us someone that was new and just got on duty. Drinks were very good, the special was so/so but the crab cakes were excellent. Very convenient for events at Joe Louis, the free parking and walkway directly to the Joe were excellent. Good place for dessert and drinks after. Our waitress was efficient late night. Make sure to arrive early, we sat down a little after 5 and didn't leave until almost 8, there was a huge delay in getting the bill. They were slammed from 6pm on."

  • "What an unfortunate choice for my wife's birthday dinner. I was disappointed overall. Terrible food, chairs were dirty, and overall I was not comfortable. It is poorly managed and terribly maintained. The restaurant has much potential; but it needs some TLC. Will not be going back until there is an owner/manager/chef change of some sort."

  • "Was told Signature Grille was the best for parking and dinner prior to an event at Joe Louis Arena (Red Wings game). Parking was a easy (plenty of it). The restaurant was great (great view)! Food was typical bar fare (burgers, sliders, etc.) w/ a few slightly gourmet items (salmon, etc.). Overall, very pleased with the variety of the menu. We had spinach & artichoke dip for an appetizer, rib sliders, and a burger for dinner. All were decent. Service was very good. The place filled up quickly as the time grew near event start time. Everything was reasonably priced (Crown Royal $8 a glass). Dinner for two with an appetizer cost us $35 (not including liquor). FAR AND AWAY this was the easiest to-and-from access to parking I have experienced."

  • "More of a neighborhood bar than a restaurant for special occasion. Waiter was nice but not very efficient. Service slow. No bread or rolls with dinner, not offered dessert or coffee at end of meal. When you walk down hall to enter restaurant you pass open door exposing kitchen"

  • "Terrific parking , in and out. Service is ok, but the atmosphere is terrific before a Red Wing game. Short walk to the game. Food is really very good."

  • "Waiter was good, but a little slow on taking our order, and he really never came around to see if we needed anything else after ordering.. The place was busy should have more waiters on staff. but will go back"

  • "arrived and got shoe-horned into the corner at a table not quite big enough for six. With a 5:15 reservation, one would not expect for them to be out of "every steak on the menu" and "the whitefish too" but that was the case. Service was slow and we were on a schedule that included a 7:00 Wings game. The food was just "OK" except for the burger which was just plain bad. We are all normally very generous tippers but this experience caused us to leave 15% or less."

  • "First of all, the only reason anyone would go to this restaurant is for the proximity to Joe Louis. Here's why I would never recommend this place to anyone: 1) 15 minutes to be greeted by our waiter, 2) 30 minutes to be brought our initial drink order, 3) had to eat appetizers with our bare hands (silverware and plates must be extra), and 4) they charged an 18% surcharge on our bill down by where the sales tax is charged. Waitstaff was doing shots while we waited around just to be greeted. The only positive note - the food wasn't bad at all."

  • "Booked for dinner before a red wing game. Parked with no drama in the attached deck and had great service in the restaurant. Waiter was great and staff very friendly energetic and helpful. Great crowd before a red wing game. Walked thru attached walkway to game and came back the same way with no hassle. Overall a great way to spend an evening in Downtown Detroit!"

  • "The menu selections were numerous. The burger was very delicious - Much tastier than Millers Bar (Dearborn). Although still dreary winter outside- The view of the river and Windsor was nice. The wait staff was very friendly."

  • "Hey I love this place, but it's become so overbooked that it's no fun anymore. The restaurant takes a reservation but they never hold a table for it.3 TIMES IN A ROW I've made a reservation and there's no table I'm left to fend for myself to try and find a table. There is a very small kitchen which puts out decent food but they're overwhelmed with the crush before a Red Wing game and can't get the food out in less than an hour. The staff needs to get a handle on bookings and walkins. I'll try again in a while but for right now I'm heading somewhere else to eat before a Red Wing game. I'm sure eating there on a nongame nite is a nice experience but I would avoid this place when there is a game."

  • "SIGNATURE GRILLE features a small kitchen (surprise---can be slow when crowded) consistently serving very excellent food in a room with a great view of the Detroit River. Service is always friendly and it's more like going to a private club than a restaurant. Well worth the trip."

  • "I went to the Signature Grill on 2/14/14 to celebrate Valentine's Day. Because of the crowd, I expected slower service, however, we were there for 3 hours. Our server was taking care of a party of 20 along with other smaller tables. Overall, the food was good, the music was entirely too loud for a dinner setting, and the service was slow. I would go back again, but probably sit at the bar."

  • "This was a great out of the way, off the beaten path type of place that actually is RIGHT THERE if you are downtown and don't want the downtown parking or walk. The ambience and view was very date impressive/appropriate. They staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Not sure about how slow the service was or was not, didn't notice because my date was extremely charming and had enough engaging conversation to keep me occupied. The food arrived right on time and was great, we had the filet and herb roasted chicken which were both cooked well-COMPLEMENTS TO THE CHEF!! The dessert was great and I would highly recommend to anyone with time to enjoy the view and just being out and about."

  • "Got the last reservation on short notice on V-Day. Food was great -- 4 course prix fixe from $26-38 a person. It'd be an awesome place to look out on the river in the summertime. I hear the Lamb is pretty awesome in here - I will have to try that next time. Overall, good times. Don't listen to the bad reviews crabbing about going on the game nights -- who would expect a good sit down meal when there's a ton of pre-game people? Plan ahead."

  • "As usual, the reservation was not adhered to and we had to wait for a table and then we were late for the Red Wings game. The service is an oxymoron because there is no service. We had to track down a waitress and sat for 20 minutes before our drink order came. The food was not hot and the place was not crowded any longer since the game started by the time our food was delivered. We missed 2/3 of the first period."

  • "Have always loved this place. Was there on 1-21-2014 and was 20 min late due to snowy conditions. Drove from West Bloomfield and the reservation were given away... Brought a new friend and bragged about this place, I was very embarrassed. Food and service was poor. Came back on 1-22 with my wife and it was worse, the waiter was horrible and food was subpar. I hope you guys get it together.."

  • "A fantastic place eat for any occasion, but ideal before and/or after a Wings game, with a nice walk to Joe Louis Arena. I highly recommend this place. A word of caution, get there early or be prepared to wait a while because this place gets really busy. The food is well worth the wait though."

  • "We dined at Signature Grill on a Saturday for lunch. It is somewhat challenging to find the restaurant, but if you make a reservation, and let them know at the guard/gate, it is so worth finding! Tommy is an excellent host/server, and the view of the Detroit River is spectacular (we watched a freighter go by when we were there) Good selection of beer, and the burgers were great!"

  • "Was a little hard to find but once we got there it was great. Awesome views of the river!! The service was great even considering that they were VERY BUSY due to the Wings game. Food was great and the prices were very reasonable. Never knew about this place before but I will certainly be back."

  • "This restaurant makes it so convenient to be able to come and go from the Red Wings games. The parking is great easier to get in and out of traffic, and to top it off the food/service is always great. The prices are also fair! I would recommend this restaurant as a great place to stop at when attending sporting events and also just a fun night out in Detroit!"
