Diner Reviews
  • "I really love this place (best gazpacho in the WORLD during the summer). I've been there about 10x. The only real disappointment is the Quail. So tiny, so expensive, so underwhelming. Their sauce is amazing. I ordered the Cobia, which was perfectly prepared. The bar high-top tables are really the best for dining; less noisy. Truly awesome chef. Scratch kitchen. They take their cheese and sauces seriously."

  • "Entertained a customer from out of town who hadn't been to Pittsburgh in over a decade. He was impressed with how vibrant downtown was, but even more impressed with this restaurant. The stracciatella was wonderful, along with the meatballs. Everyone loved their entrees. Our waiter, from Madagascar originally, was very attentive and a lot of fun... cool accent."

  • "Dinner was fabulous as always. Wonderful fresh creative dishes. The caesar salad was great along with the 5 cheese flatbread. My husband had one of the pasta dishes with the meatball.....sooo good!"

  • "My wife and I thought the food was authentic Italian. We both enjoyed our meals. The lemon tiramisu was so good. Can't wait to have that again."

  • "We love Sienna. Never disappointed. Food and Service always very good. Will definitely be back again soon. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time."

  • "When we like to treat ourselves to a "lunch with real silverware" we like to go to Sienna. The tomato bisque is awesome, and when paired with the chopped salad, its a nice lunch without feeling like you overate. It's always busy, so make that reservation! The only drawback I can comment on is they play the music too loud. The music should be in the background, I felt like i was jamming in my car with the windows down - it was that distracting. But other than that, I highly recommend Siena!!"

  • "I had one of the salads that had raisens, pecans and I added the salmon. It was excellent. I only wish it had more greens as it was on the small size."

  • "My wife and I were truly impressed with the delicious and savory food, wine, ambiance, and very attentive/friendly staff. An absolute must when visiting Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh. We'll be back for sure!!!"

  • "We had a great lunch before our 2PM show - I had the Mesclun Salad (golden raisins, pecans, bartlett pear, goat cheese, roasted onion vinaigrette). I added the salmon wrapped in prosciutto - It was delicious - moist and perfectly cooked. The presentation was nice too - it came out on the square plate that looked like a piece of slate. For dessert, we split the Italian doughnuts - 5 warm mini doughnuts drizzled with chocolate and sprinkled with sugar - Yum! I highly recommend this as a pre-theater lunch spot."

  • "Came in to 2 gentlemen who assisted us with a greeting of "Happy Anniversary". Good to know that they could recognize that. It was very romantic. A bit small so not for groups and a bit noisy. Food was GREAT!!! Great taste, authentic, fresh and I LOVE LOVE LOVED the squid ink spaghetti. I have had my share of those kinds of dishes and they Sienna is by far the best. Not too salty, not too oceanic tasting but perfect."

  • "You must try to the strattichella appetizer and veal meatballs...absolutely incredible! Also, the moscato wine is to die for! Everything was very good and enjoyable and can't wait to visit again soon, especially once the patio is open!"

  • "My husband and I found this place close to 2 years ago and have not even one thing to be disappointed about. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. It has a great casual feel to it while having some of the best food in the city. It is a hidden gem in Market Square though it is becoming more and more known."

  • "The meatballs are legendary and the service was outstanding"

  • "Nicole is a wonderful waitress. The flavors were all quite good but the pastas were thick and underdone - not al dente, underdone. I really wish they would get rid of the high top tables. They are VERY uncomfortable to sit at through dinner."

  • "Sometimes I look at a menu and nothing really strikes me. Sienna's menu is full of stuff you wanna eat. The atmosphere is good and I've always had friendly and attentive service. I've been here mostly for lunches but also for dinner and its good for both. Not a "foodie" place in that you aren't going to find any focus on local ingredients or trendy stuff but the food is just plain good."

  • "Nice place for lunch but very crammed seating. I asked to add a seat to my table and was told that I would have to move my reservation out 1 and half hours. Food is good."

  • "Sienna has recently received awards for being one of the best new restaurants in Pittsburgh and those are well deserved. Restaurant itself is cozy, dimly lit, and has a very modern (for Italian restaurants) feel to it. We stuck to appetizers and the flat breads all of which were delicious and the wine menu complimented the food great. We will definitely be heading back soon to try out the full menu."

  • "Our dinner at Sienna was a great experience. My wife recommends the arugula salad and Cobia. My choices ran to stuffed meatballs and the short ribs with risotto. All of the items were great and we will be back there again. We have already told friends about this place."

  • "Food was a good twist on traditional Italian fare, with the occasional unique ingredient or combination. Cocktail menu was short but interesting."

  • "I was only in town on business, and was flying out at 1:45. I chose the restaurant because of the 11:00 reservation slot, and couldn't be happier that I did. It was a nice day, so the entire front if the building was open to Market Square, which was nice to see some of the local life. A coworker & I split the wild mushroom bruschetta which was fantastic. I had the Bucatini w/Meatballs and my coworker had the Ricotta Gnocchi. The bucatini was definitely good, and we both shared it. The sauce and mushrooms were really good, but the gnocchi had an almost lemon cake taste. All in all, a very good lunch, and if I would have found this place earlier in the trip, I would have stopped by for drinks at night. Great atmosphere and staff."

  • "I came here with a friend for a going away dinner so I expected to pay a little extra. I will say that the Service was Excellent and the server told us all about the menue and all its nuances. The food w4las awesome from the recomended appetizer (stechetella) to the main course. This would be a great place to take a date or a good friend. And you won't be disappointed by quality for the price. But expect $50 per person for dinner and a couple drinks. Still very awesome in my opinion given tbe quality"

  • "The restaurant was categorized as Italian cuisine, but it definitely wasn't your traditional Italian fair. The food menu was relatively small, but wine list was large. I ended up with soup and salad. It was good. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about selections."

  • "Was excited to dine here with friends. Ate at Meat & Potatoes the night before - stupendous - expected more from Siena based on reviews. Music, but not at a level where one needs to shout at other people at the table in order to be heard. A locavore(I applaud),vegetables were bathed in extreme amounts of cholesterol? Chicken that is dry, hanger steak so tough(yes, I know it is not the tenderest of meats, but at a high price should be palatable), pasta swimming in cream and little else, a skimpy piece of fish. Servers who memorize and need to tell you what each portion is composed of but forget to stop by and ask if there is anything needed, such as water; bringing adequate utensils and plates. Need I say more?"

  • "My wife and I had a very enjoyable dinner at Sienna before attending a Saturday concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Luckily, we had a reservation because the place filled up quickly and some people without a reservation had to be turned away. The food, which was cooked to order, was wonderful and our waiter Matthew was very attentive and thorough. This was our 2nd visit to Sienna and we will definitely be back again. A truly great Saturday night dinner!"

  • "Great ambiance. Perfect for a distinctive business lunch or a romantic night out. Consistently excellent service and very very good food. Perfect place to grab a glass of wine. In warm weather there is seating on the sidewalk out front."

  • "I like this place. The lighting is subtle, flattering, and a welcome change from the usual kitschy lighting we find in the city of champions. Our waiter, Matthew, was very tuned in to what people want. He was educated, friendly, and available. I had a rabbit and pasta dish and some Chianti. There was fairly good bread and served with a very good spread/dip (eggplant, olive oil, ceci, sweet pepper?). I'd go back any time for any reason."

  • "We had a fantastic meal. Our server, Nicki was excellent. She had great insight into the entrees and made excellent recommendations! We loved the ambiance. We had an early meal and as we left the restaurant had become very busy and lively with young professionals."

  • "The hostesses could have been a little more energetic and cheery upon arrival. They just ask for your reservation and seat you quickly, very impersonal. Our waitor was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine/cocktail menu. He seemed to dissapear after a while. I wanted another glass of wine and had to wait for a while before he came to check on our table. But everything else was great. The food was incredible. Ceasar salad was good ( a little salty) but good. I had the homemade gnocchi, EXCELLENT! The liver pate was great and the rabbit entree was delicious also. Over all experience 8 out of 10! I will be going back."

  • "Eating at Sienna was a wonderful experience. My wife and I decided to celebrate on our wedding day by treating ourselves to a nice dinner, and that's exactly what we got. The staff were wonderful - prompt, friendly, and not invasive, and the food was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience all around."

  • "Sienna was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time, possibly ever. This is my new favorite restaurant. The service was excellent and the food far exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was very relaxing, even for a busy Valentines Day weekend. I highly recommend the mozzarella stuffed meatballs as a dish or a side. I also recommend reservations, as its not a big place. We had reservations and were sat on time with no wait or issue."

  • "I chose Sienna for our late Valentines Day dinner. We were lucky enough to get reservations at a reasonable time, and enjoyed a great meal. Their appetizers and salads are great sizes to share and not get too full before the main course. Speaking of not getting full, save room for dessert, it is well worth it."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a romantic evening at Sienna. We decided to try the Orzo Mac n Cheese as an appetizer and were surpirsed by how light it was! It was an excellent pre-dinner choice. The mozzerella stuffed meatballs are definitely woth giving a try. I had the Crisp Fried Quail, which was extraordinary, but I didn't realize how small quail is. No beer on tap but they have a decent bottle selection. For dessert, the tiramisu wasnt anything special but I did enjoy the bread pudding which was served in the shape of a cupcake. It was a real treat! A great experience and we hope to visit again soon."
