Diner Reviews
  • "We have been there many times and the food has been quite consistently fine. Wine pairings are also good and the three course prix fixe is always well thought out. For either an occasion or a mid week "let's treat ourselves a little", this is a gem."

  • "Another great meal at Siena - we had a couple that could not make it at the last minute and they were very disappointed as they were looking forward to it after the last time they dined and had a fab meal - we'll be back."

  • "Nice restaurant just off Granville, prefect for pre theater dinner as it's right by the Stanley. Wonderful service and great prices on food and wine."

  • "Superb service by the male server with long hair! Sorry didn't get a name."

  • "We have been to this restaurant twice before attending a play and will certainly return. It is a small restaurant and was fully booked and very busy but the staff was quite attentive and the food excellent. We arrived a little late for our reservation but they managed to serve our meal and have us ready to attend our play without a problem and in a very friendly way."

  • "We really enjoyed our first-time dining experience at Siena. The food was great, the service outstanding and the ambience cozy. And t's a great location for show ticket-holders in that area. We'll be back!"

  • "Siena is located off Granville Street before Downtown Vancouver. Location is perfect if you do not want to drive into town. The food is very nice, tasty, clean, & flavourful. The Ravioli with Porcini very nice. Salads are excellent. The fix menu is a good alternative. Service was superb! The restaurant is charming & cozy. Good Italian Restaurant. Great trying."

  • "Overall the meal was wonderful. For the theatre crowd I would recommend a 6:00 dining time as you need the full two hours to get to your show without feeling rushed. We came at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation and still waited almost an hour for our meal which left us feeling rushed we asked for the bill before dessert arrived so we could save time that way. Would like a more relaxed experience in future."

  • "Food/service had been very substandard on a recent visit, the food dry and over cooked and the service inadequate as we had to ask several times for two of the 3 courses. Not what we normally have experienced for our visits to this pleasant, reasonably priced, small restaurant located near the Stanley Theatre. I tried one of the meaty mains on the new menu......yummm! My companion's fish perfectly cooked and well presented. We shared the daily arancine as the starter, substantial enough so that neither of us desired dessert. Wine list well priced and as the reservation was made for just after the pre-theatre crowd exodus, we were able to enjoy the bottle in peace and quiet, with the waitstaff keeping watchful eyes on us. Glad we returned!"

  • "The food was excellent and even adventuresome. My husband had the wild boar tenderloin which was tender, tasty and delicious. A wonderful neighbourhood gem.... It is popular with the theatre crowd, so if you're looking for a romantic evening, go after 7:45 p.m.!"

  • "Siena is our usual pick when we go to the Stanley Theatre and we are never disappointed. The food and menu is excellent. The service is awesome. Seina is very accommodating for Gluten Free choices. I so appreciate restaurants that are willing to accommodate dietary needs. We will be back for a wonderful dinner in next week."

  • "The short rib beef ravioli was too salty, and the chicken pasta was not salty enough. The antipasti was very good, and the warm fig cake was excellent! Will have to come back and try other selections!"

  • "This was the perfect place for before a Play dinner. The food was excellent, the service friendly, and the ambiance pleasant. It is a small restaurant and was very busy but the service did not suffer. The only negative was the slightly "squashed" feeling from the tables being very close to one another. We would certainly come again."

  • "We always enjoy our dinner at Siena, a great location. Easy parking, great menu, good service. The only possible complaint I have is I would like to see more BC wines on the list !!"

  • "Succulent dishes, some unusual (eg try the arancine!). Good service; busy before Arts Club Theatre shows. Small, pleasant if a bit clattery room. We enjoyed it tremendously."

  • "Four of us dined here on a Friday night before heading out to a play at the Stanley. We all enjoyed the experience. Our server, Jay, was attentive and efficient as he served many tables in the packed restaurant. The four meals arrived at the same time piping hot. Three of the four meals were outstanding (two orders of beef ravioli and steelhead trout), but the meatball/ pasta dish was too salty (even for the diner who prefers a saltier dish). When we mentioned this to the server he thanked us for our comments and said the chef always wants feedback to improve the dining experience. The restaurant was lively and cozy and I would highly recommend it to others."

  • "After theatre we were early arriving for our reservation. Chilled by the cold, were hoping to get at least shelter and maybe a hot coffee No luck however, a server came out to talk to us but the door remained firmly closed to us 4. This took at least one star off the service assessment, which was otherwise great."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner before taking in a show at the Stanley Theatre. Our server was knowledgeable and efficient understanding we had a show to catch. The winner meal of the evening was the fixed menu pasta (a gnochi-like pasta with wild mushrooms and truffle sauce). Absolutely delicious! The other mains and desserts were also great."

  • "Three of us shared an antipasta dish that deliciously engaged our tastebuds and accommodated our vegetarian requests. Our main course meals were good, but two people ordered the clam linguine and were mildly disappointed and the third (me) had the mushroom pasta dish which was fantastic. The restaurant is small and buzzing… noise level a bit high initially but gradually died down as dinner guests left. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "Had a wonderful meal here with a friend. Got a table for 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and the place was packed! Glad we reserved ahead of time. Wine pairing with my pork was spot on and the ambiance was fantastic. Perfectly lit and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the fixed price menu, three courses for 32$ was a great deal!"

  • "The dine-out menu a terrific value, prepped and cooked with care. Amazing fig cake."

  • "I went to this restaurant as part of Dine Out Vancouver. We both ordered the pork loin dinner as our entree. We both felt the meat was quite dry and lacked a much needed sauce. It would have been nice if the waiter had inquired! The restaurant is quite small and tables are plain wood without tablecloth or place mats. The waiter was quite attentive for most of the evening until he left for about 20 min. When we finished our deserts another waiter brought our bill and left it on the table without asking if we were finished or if we wanted and coffee etc. I will not return to this restaurant."

  • "Took my sister to Siena for a birthday meal during Dine-Out Vancouver. The meal was incredible, especially the entrees - the steelhead and the pork tenderloin. And the warm fig pudding I could eat any day, any time - SO divine."

  • "We celebrated a birthday at Siena during dine out Vancouver. There were 5 of us and this smallish restaurant was full so we were seated at a table of 4 with a 5th chair pulled up to the end. Service was good although a little slow at first as many customers were leaving for a theatre show. We tried almost everything on the menu. The arancini (rice balls) and polenta fries were both amazing. Salads were excellent. 2 of us ordered the mushroom cavatelli and this was preferred to the short rib ravioli although both were excellent. Serving sizes were just right. The maple cake with caramel sauce was better than the custard which had a lemon topping that tasted like lemon meringue pie that was too sweet. We would go back for sure."

  • "Our food was not very hot, but tasty. Servers spent a lot of time talking amongst themselves behind the bar. Siena advertises 50% off wine on Monday nights but this was not honored on our visit as it was Dine-Out Vancouver - even though the 50% off wine promotion is on the Dine-Out Vancouver page of the restaurant website. The server was dismissive and unapologetic about not honoring this promotion."

  • "This restaurant serves very tasty food, nicely presented without being pretentious. It was a full restaurant the night I attended so the noise level was high. However it was still easy for two people to talk. Good place to go especially if you want to dine before going to the Stanley Theatre."
