Diner Reviews
  • "Would not go back. Ossobuco was very good but have had better. My gnocchi was highlight of dinner but I would not drive downtown to get gnocchi. The prosciutto was cut ridiculously thin. We know that it is supposed to be served thinly sliced but this was obviously done to save money. Skip the coccoli appetizer with prosciutto. The burrata with tomato jam and toast was delicious. The gelato was okay but the rhubarb crisp was way too tart. I love rhubarb but would never order this dessert again. My white sangria was refreshing. There is no bread on the table. The pizzas looked good but we were looking for a nice dinner. The meal was good, just not good enough to make it a downtown destination for us - unfortunately."

  • "We had a reservation here and ended up being about 20 minutes late because of a bus breakdown. However, the host was extremely gracious, and we waited about ten minutes, got a drink at the bar, and then were taken to our table. Compared to other similarly-priced Italian restaurants in Chicago, we were impressed with the portion sizes. I didn't love the risotto that I got, but it was artfully prepared and definitely tasted good. The service was fantastic too, despite the restaurant being (surprisingly) crowded for 8:30 on a Wednesday night. I'll be back!"

  • "Very nice restaurant, nice open floor plan; various rooms, etc. The food was good, not great. However, if you're a NYC transplant, who's lived here for decades - get the pizza it's like home.!!"

  • " From the time we sat down to the time we left, it was a very memorable, and enjoyable experience. We ordered our selections based on other reviews and the help of our server. There were three of us and we shared all of the dishes. The Coccoli was our least favorite (cheese was cold & would have preferred at least room temp). The Octopus was out of this world, I've tried elsewhere and found this to be the best & most tender. We shared the Squid Ink pasta w/ Lobster, the Mushroom Gnocchi and Burnt Pepperoni pizza. Everything was really good! Our server, Arturo was by far one of the best servers we have ever had. He truly made the whole experience so enjoyable."

  • "Had a birthday brunch at Siena T. For the most part it was a good dining experience. The food was good (not great). Kinda expected a little more to be honest but we had a good time. Service was a little dodgy. Nice enough and knowledgeable but he may have had too many tables to work with. Took our orders and disappeared. Long enough so that the appetizers arrived at the same time as our meals. He checked in after everything arrived. That was odd. Other than that it was fun. We'll probably go back again but more than likely for drinks only. Not that impressed."

  • "This is becoming a go-to place for special occasions and out of town guests. Food and service are consistently excellent! Great ambiance."

  • "We discovered this gem by accident. Loved it so much we visited twice. The wait staff was incredible! Water glasses were never empty. Waiter offered terrific substitutions to accommodate dietary restrictions. Favorites were the meatball sandwich, kale salad, coccoli (YUM!) and pizza. We have never been a fan of the deep dish (sorry Chicago!) so the lighter crust was a welcome surprise! Cocktails were pricey, but oooh so good. Would return for drinks alone."

  • "Very enjoyable experience at an outstanding restaurant. Both the food and the service were excellent. I highly recommend the Siena Tavern."

  • "The shaved brussels sprout salad is interesting and ample enough to share. Our charcuterie (waitress selected) was delicious including walnuts and honey, 2 cheeses and 2 meats. My daughter said the Gnocchi was the best she ever had. The Orchietta was also delicious and equally as good reheated the next day for lunch. The little donuts (beignets really) were wonderful with the chocolate/hazlenut, caramel/whiskey, and raspberry sauce. Definitely a restaurant worth returning to."

  • "This place was amazing! We ordered the grilled octupus as an appetizer and it was great. For our entrees we ordered the prosciutto pear pizza and farro risotto, both delicious dishes. Our waitress was really great and she really knew the menu and was able to make some great recommendations. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, I would go back again!!!!"

  • "I picked Siena Tavern to meet up with out of town guests because it was recommended to me, and I'd always drive by and want to go in there. We have no complaints about the quality of food and drink, but the service wasn't great. It wasn't a busy night either. It took approximately 20 minutes to receive our drinks after we ordered. My friend's appetizer was taken away when our entrees arrived even though it was only half finished. My husband ordered a dish and was told that one component of it was out of stock, so they would bring a bit more of everything else. My husband requested that they do not increase the oysters and instead the server sent an extra plate of oysters. Our server just did not seem interested in our table at all."

  • "Went there after theatre for a meal. We were seated right away inside, however the noise level was very high since it was Saturday night. I had brick chicken and my companion had lasagna, both were very good. Would go there again on a different night."

  • "Our server was not attentive nor friendly...however, the nearby waitress was super helpful!"

  • "It was amazing food served wonderfully from pizza to cheese plate to burgers"

  • "Sat outside with a group of 5 people. Wait staff could have been a bit more attentive but the food was great! Good options for brunch, and they also had a full lunch menu. I had the breakfast sandwich which came with a side of crispy potatoes sprinkled with parm cheese - both items were amazing. Friends had biscuits and gravy which they loved. Waffles with Nutella were also delicious. Lots of outdoor seating - not hard to get a reservation for a Saturday brunch."

  • "A rather large group of us went to celebrate a birthday and we all left raving about Siena Tavern! Everything was amazing! The service was great, cocktails and food exceptional, and the environment was buzzing. We especially loved the Fried Dough app and the Gnocchi and Squid Ink Linguine."

  • "We went for brunch, so I can't speak to the dinner/bar scene of this spot but it was a fantastic experience for us! Our server was competent and friendly, the restaurant is lovely and we sincerely enjoyed our visit."

  • "At first I felt like Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" when she was trying to buy clothes. I had money, but no one would wait on me at the bar. I was seen by several bartenders and waitresses, but something about me must have screamed "I am not worthy." Once we got seated, things improved. Excellent pizza. Very good lobster pasta. Bread was not served. Desserts merely OK."

  • "We were all excited to dine at this restaurant. Our gluten-free diner ordered a kale salad with chicken. It was served with tons of croutons. It was remade, but this time they forgot the chicken. A bus boy was sent to pick it up so it could be corrected, but he thought it was to be thrown away, so we had to chase him down. We waited another 10 minutes and they brought a bowl of chopped chicken for her to "dump" in the salad. This was appalling to us. We explained this to the manager and all she did was hand us her card and said to contact her next time we came in. This was also appalling. No offer to remove the item from the bill, no offer of dessert, no offer of free drinks. Worst experience in ages."

  • "The food was delicious but tiny portions! Disappointing especially for the prices"

  • "Having made reservations 6 weeks in advance I was really looking forward to a night out with my girlfriends. The waiter was stuck up, my short rib ravioli was cold and incredibly overpriced and they ran out of sangria, the one part of the evening I was enjoying."

  • "If you are looking for great service, Siena Tavern is the spot. I brought my parents here to celebrate my graduation and the manager even approached the table to welcome the new faces as well as to congratulate me on my success. The support staff were also very welcoming and even had suggestions on what to order as we ordered throughout our stay. Ughh and the food, phenomenal, order atleast one of everything especially the pizza! Love this place!"

  • "YOu have to have the Squid ink linguine with lobster! Amazing!"

  • "We have been there before and absolutely love the food and atmosphere. There isn't a bad thing on the menu. Unforunately had a really poor experience in terms of service. Server was absent the entire evening and was not checking in or brining things back to the table in a timely manner. It was such a bad experience that it took away from the entire evening. It is unfortunate because this restaurant is one of my favorites."

  • "Great food. Appetizers were nice to share. Everyone at my table ordered pasta and we were all pleased with what we got. Gelato for dessert was amazing! We had a super nice waitress. Noise level a little on the loud side, but everything else was great."

  • "Love that despite the restaurant's popularity, the tables aren't on top of eachother and as a big group we were able to easily have conversation without having to shout - awesome atmosphere."

  • "Finally was able to get a reservation at Siena Table after months of hounding and I have to say I was extremely impressed. Definitely well worth the wait. Awesome food, the staff gave great recommendations on the menu, overall I would give the hospitality effect a 10. I took my dad for brunch on Father's day and normally he can be kind of picky on trying new places; he even thought it was amazing! Will definitely be going back again; that is when we can get a reservation :)"

  • "Had lunch at Sienna Tavern on 6/14. Great service, fantastic food, awesome drinks. I had the lobster roll and my wife had the chicken sandwich. Everything was spot on. Finished lunch outside and moved inside to have a cocktail at the bar. The inside is gorgeous and pretty spacious. Would love to go back for dinner."

  • "Food was DELICIOUS! Waiter recommended the Coccoli and Wagyu beef Meatball and they were both outstanding! One of our favorite dishes was the Gnocchi...truffle cream sauce is intoxicating! Staff friendly and accommodating. Came with a group of 5 and were sat at a comfortable sized table for our group. Overall a wonderful experience, will definitely go back!"

  • "Great food and amazing service. Have been twice; once for lunch and once for dinner. The staff made great recommendations and the food is simply amazing. Moderately priced too. I live in Seattle and find myself in Chicago once or twice a year and I could eat at Siena Tavern lunch and dinner every day of my stay!"

  • "This place never disappoints. Been several times. Tried new things with a group of customers, all amazing... from the Coccoli appetizer, a must have, to the gelato. The pistachio & salted caramel gelato were outstanding! Lobster squid ink pasta, mushroom truffle pizza... everything is just what you'd expect Fabbio to make you :)"

  • "You would not know that Fabio can in 2nd place on Top Chef Masters after dining here...you would have given him the 1st place crown! The Grilled Octopus was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was to die for (if you like spicy food like I do). All the pasta is made in-house and you can tell. We had Sam as our waiter...excellent!"

  • "Went into Siena Tavern for a light dinner and some drinks and was completely satisfied. Our waitress was helpful and attentive and all of the courses that we tried were very good. The highlight of the night for us was by far the grilled octopus. One of the best octopus dishes I have ever had."

  • "This was my second time at Siena Tavern, and was definitely an improvement. I made reservations both times, but this time was seated at a booth. Additionally, last time, the monkey bread was a little hard, which the management apologized for, and this time, it was perfect. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, and Fabio (the owner) was also dining in the restaurant, which was a nice surprise and always makes a diner feel good. Will definitely be back."
