North moves to the South, the former Executive Chef and owner of Civile Ristorante Italiano established over eighteen years ago in Kenilworth has relocated to the newly renovated Sal's Tavern location on Shrewsbury Ave., where he will continue to take pride in every dish he creates using the highest quality and freshest ingredients for his Northern Italian inspired cuisine. Throughtout his career, he had the priviledge of cooking for former president George Herbert Bush Sr. during his visits to New Jersey; among others are Republican and Democratic prominent politicians, members of New Jersey's Judiciary, noted sports personalities and celebrities. He is known to accommodate special requests and gladly customizes any dish to suit your taste. We were unable to use the Restaurant.com gift certificate; the restaurant offers 50% off all food Tuesday thru Sunday. To use the gift certificate, we would have had to forfeit the 50% off. Since there were 6 of us, we chose the 50% option making the meal very reasonable
The food was well prepared, well served and delicious. We chose to eat in the dining room because the Tavern was seriously loud with a great deal of energetic football fans who were defintly enjoying themselves. The dining room limits your food choices to dinner entrees only. The burger/sandwich/pizza portion of the Tavern menu was not avaialable in the dining room. Overall it was a very good dining experience, but I am left with a gift cert I cannot use

I was excited to go after viewing menu online. However, when we were reading the menu at the restaurant the prices were increased by $5.00 more or less. I felt as though they increased the prices for their Monday special. Small portions, good wine list, our waiter was very polite. Too bad they're deceiving their patrons with their online menu pricing. If the web-site is advertising their specials, it must have been updated at one point...why not the pricing?
