  • "Our group of six had a very good experience with Sydney's Grille. We were staying in the hotel (Le Meridien, Cambridge) and it was a very rainy day, so we decided to avoid walking. We had a very good experience. Everyone in the group was very happy with their selection. We also had a drink about 11:00 PM the night before and the bartender was very accommodating."

  • "For the price food is mediocre and the service poor. The restaurant is big and I can see it is empty everytime I pass by. It is actually part of the Meridien hotel in Cambridge and probably only still opened because of that. If you walk a couple of minutes you can find much better restaurants in Central square in the same price range."

  • "I have eaten here on two occasions, once for breakfast and once for dinner. It was very quiet for dinner but I guess it was out of season for visitors. Dinner was good; the lobster mac & cheese is definite recommendation ! I went back for breakfast (staying at hotel) and was very dissappointed. The prices were really expensive and the quality of food was pretty poor, especially for the price. I ordered a waffle which was really dry and stale-tasting. My husband ordered the eggs benedict and was also dissappointed. If I stayed at the hotel again, I would definitely look elsewhere for breakfast. On a positive note, the staff were wonderful !"

  • "We were there for Thanksgiving at lunch time and the buffet was outstanding!! Will seriously consider it a strong contender against our home cooking. Options for appetizers left us making tough choices, but the apple cider pumpkin soup was excellent. The turkey was exquisite, and it was but one of four meat options, so all meat lovers were rejoicing. Desserts were great, with so many delicious options! It was very quiet at that time of the day and the serving stations were well laid out for everyone's enjoyment. Kudos on lots of healthier and vegetarian options. We were all especially delighted by the stuffing... it tasted like heaven!!!"

For only $17.50 per person, one can feast on a delicious buffet of eggs made-to-order, a variety of baked goods, fresh fruit, bacon, french toast, home fries and more! The restaurant is located in a beautiful hotel. The food is worth every penny!"

  • "Good for handicapped clients since there is a ramp to get into the restaurant directly and a good amount of space between tables, so easy to maneuver a walker. Good breakfast/brunch buffet selection, but they were not prepared for the amount of people that came. Service was muddled and food trays stayed empty for long periods."

  • "The staff was all very friendly and the food was OK, but service was disorganized. The kids chose the buffet while the adults had the menu, which was nice. Salads were creative and good. My salmon teriyaki was fine but unremarkable, and desserts were good. My wife's entree was overcooked and bland from sitting under a heat lamp for twenty minutes. And that was part of the problem. We got our drinks immediately, then had to wait twenty-five minutes for salads because things were "backed up." Then we had the long wait for entrees. And this happened while the place was half full. Open, loud, cafeteria-like ambiance. It's surely fine for casual dining in the neighborhood, but there are better options if you're making a trip."

  • "We went here for brunch and got excellent oatmeal and very good eggs with salmon. The side order of toast was great, but the home fries were overly greasy and mushy. The only major concern we had was that the atmosphere wasn't the greatest -- there were only a handful of people in the restaurant, but the background music and the TVs playing in the background were way too loud. Still, overall, this was a pleasant experience -- and fairly priced, too."

  • "DON"T GO - Four of us arrived at 6:PM on a Saturday nite and there was literally no one else there except staff. We hesitated but decided to stay- big mistake. The waiter was rude and surly. The greet told us to pick any table we liked (reasonable)but the waiter objected to where we sat down. We had to flag the waiter down at every junction, and coming back to check on the food, more drinks, etc. was out of the question. The final straw was that the waiter added a 20% gratuity to the bill! we walked the bill up to the bar to question it and were told the mistake was made because he "used the wrong computer!""

  • "iSidney's is a barn of a space with a cafeteria like atmospher and a very rude wait staff. The food was good hotel grade with nothing special or memorable other than the terrible service and dreary atmosphere. We thought that a restaurant at a Le Merdian hotel would at least have an interesting menu and were shocked by the horrible attitude of the staff. Not worth a second trip."

  • "I made the reservation after looking at their menu online. It looked so good. We walked in to the restaurant, and we were the only ones there! I was suprised because it seemed like a beautiful place! The server was attentive. And the food was great!!! Even my boyfriend who is a picky eater really enjoyed his steak (which you cant go wrong with!) I had the lobster mac and cheese, which I devoured!!! I would definitely go again."

  • "I never understand why this restaurant with very good food and very reasonable prices is never crowded for dinner. Four of us had an excellent dinner there and the retaurant was nearly empty. The service was excellent (as always), the drinks were fine, and yet the dining room was empty. I recommend this restaurant for the food, the drinks and ambiance, and the service."

  • "The best holiday buffet we've ever been too. We're from Colorado and our typical brunch is typical food. Although there was the typical carving board of turkey, the giblet gravy and spiced yams were wonderful. There was this asperagus duck flan that was awesome and short ribs too. I heard the chef talking to a customer and that he used to work for MGM which might be the reason for such a nice eclectic offering. The restaurant itself is in the main dining/bar area of LeMeridien hotel but it's modern and the atmosphere was nie. Ended up spending Thanksgiving night at the hotel and it was a great room too. Had late night bite and drinks after a movie on Thanksgiving night and was really happy with the bartender and appetizers."

  • "The atmosphere was non-pressured, relaxed, and friendly. The food presentation was impressive in that it was on counters and tables around an open kitchen. Interested in cooking, I was able to meet the chef and even have a picture taken with him in front of the restaurant entrance. Lastly, the food made the meal. There were many more selections than the standard Thanksgiving fare. I particularly enjoyed the various seafood selections, asparagus flan with duck confit, sliced breast of turkey with marvelous stuffing, and finished off my meal with a small plate of fruit torte and pecan pie. The house red wine was unexpectantly smooth and tasty. Thanksgiving buffet at Sidney's Grille was a perfect choice."

  • "Sidney's Grille has an expensive buffet brunch and the experience and service was TERRIBLE and one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in Boston !!! The host was rude and yelled at his polite co-workers in front of guests. Then, as part of the buffet, you have to place your order at the egg/waffle/pancake station. The chefs couldn't remember anything you said to them and mixed up everyone's order. My friend had 2 omelettes - both of which were not what she ordered. Worse, guests have to pick up the food from the kitchen counter and do not know what is theirs so you end up waiting a LONG time for food. Our waiter gave us the bill before we even had our meals. DO NOT waste your money or your time here !!! Horrifying experience."

However, the food was pretty good, and the complimentary platter of bread and dipping oils/hummus/garlic butter was a very nice touch."

Disappointed that Le Meridien took out all the cool MIT decorations and replaced it with typical hotel furnishings. Glad to see that the food wasn't also made blander."

  • "Our lunch at Sidney's was very good. Our waiter was very attentive as was the rest of the staff. Everything we asked for appeared in a moment's notice with smiles. I ordered the salmon, the accompaniment was a small 1/2 tomato. I ordered a side of fries - it seems to me that Sidney's could add a scoop of rice or a few roasted potatoes to go with it, it might round out the dish. Other than that everything was fine."

  • "The food was excellent and well-prepared and the wait staff were very friendly. The decor was very modern. A small gripe was that the restaurant noises seemed to bounce off the high ceilings, making it a bit noisier than it should have been. The service, especially between the first course and the main entree was very slow. I don't know if it was because of being short-staffed or it just took a long time to cook the meals. My best guess is that it's a fairly new restaurant and they're getting the kinks out."

  • "We had a very pleasant meal on our special occasion. The pace was very relaxed, which was fine for a special occasion, but on a regular night would have been too slow. The atmosphere was very pleasant as were the staff. It was a great last minute find when the usual haunts were booked. The food was very fresh and well prepared. The presentation was excellent. I had a wonderful seafood cocktail which was like an elegant Ceviche on top of spicy Guacamole. My main entre was a Sea Bass, which was elegantly prepared. But I felt that the dish had too many elements which detracted from the excellent fish. I ordered everything with no milk or butter, but I was not confident about my order (the fish tasted of butter)."
