  • "We've been to Sidebar 122 several times over the past few This past Friday night 6 of us dined. Tapas in general were excellent. We had the squid, octopus, halibut fritters, tomato basil dip, veal meatballs. The pasta was very under cooked. My wife could not eat it, the waiter was very nice and took it back (we did not return it, she was willing just not to eat it). But he insisted. He said he would bring her another, she said no thank you,he insisted on bringing her lobster ravioli. It was ok. When the bill came he credited the pasta dish, but charged her for the lobster ravioli that she really did not want. In my opinion, he should have never charged for the replacement. My duck was good not great. Not sure if I would return."

  • "The filet was incredible. The wedge salad didn't have an egg... tilapia ceviche was pretty good the potatoes tapas were just alright. Also had the mussels, they were delish, very flavorful and juicy and big...bigger than anything you can buy here in columbus at the grocery stores. Overall, we walked out happy and full. Moscow mule was pretty good too"

  • "Tried Sidebarr 122 after an early Promusica show based on positive reviews. Neither of us wanted a large meal so we opted for tapas/salad. The squid was properly (lightly) breaded, not overcooked or rubbery. The accompaniment (billed as cilantro-lemon aioli) was two small pots of thick spread. The white version had little flavor, the yellow version hinted of lemon and complimented the squid. My friend had the Galician octopus and enjoyed it. The house salad was plentiful, flavorful with the right amount of dressing. Very bustling place but not so noisy we had to shout. Host and wait staff attentive and pleasant. I would have preferred a table with a bit more lighting. Only small complaints, so will definitely return."

  • "Sidebar had been our "go to" restaurant during its first year plus. It has a relaxed ambience and pleasing décor, and the drinks are reliably good. The food has taken a serious downturn. We kept trying the restaurant hoping the food had improved. Sadly, it has not. We ordered a garlic/mushroom appetizer which was bland with barely cooked mushrooms. The Tuscan Salad--previously a mainstay, was very uninteresting. The special was halibut --it was completely without flavor and the texture was unpleasing. The server, while attentive, did not even ask what was wrong when we couldn't eat the halibut. If there is any way for the management to regroup around the food standards, we would look forward to returning."

  • "Cocktails were interesting, tasty, and hand prepared syrups, etc. Waiter was very nice and professional. Octopus Galician style and Cured Spanish Sausage with onions were fabulous small plates. Roasted Duck, Eggplant Marinara, Lamb Shank, and Seafood Opera were fabulous! Will return!"

  • "Sidebar's food is really amazing. They started by a pesto humus which I could eat all night it was so tasty. My short ribs were so huge and tender that i did not need a knife and they were excellent. The lobster ravioli was wonderful and even the house salad was wonderful. This is really a downtown gem of a restaurant and they have very personable bar tenders who specialize in high end, made from scratch shaken cocktails. They have something for everyone at this restaurant."

  • "It's been about 14 months since we've been here, but was seeing a show downtown and decided to give it another try (very average in previous visits). Everything was outstanding. The manager was great - checking in on us several times to make sure all was good. He even informed us that we needed to pay the bill if we wanted to see the start of the show! Food was just outstanding. I had a lamb shank that was better than I can make, and my wife's salad was perfect. $6 drinks in the bar before 7 was an added bonus. Also, the menu has completely changed since our last visit - added some very nice items."

  • "We waited for 15 minutes before the staff took note of our being seated. The restaurant was not crowded, so I thought that a bit odd. After that, the service was very good. The appetizers were excellent. I've had the spicy potatoes before and liked them enough to re-order. My veggie pasta was plentiful and perfectly prepared. Cocktails were good, but small and expensive."

  • "The food here has been good, lovely presentation, tasty, although the "dip" we ordered this time was more like a pasta sauce than a dip. Our salmon quinoa "salad" was quite delicious, salmon cooked perfectly, quinoa served cold with diced crisp peppers and parsley. The tapas have been kind of hit-or-miss (some odd combinations) but always perfectly cooked and presented. The service needs to be stepped up a bit. This last trip the restaurant wasn't quite full, it was late on a Saturday and still we rarely saw the server. Our tapas and meals were brought out by others and our own server never showed until we'd finished eating. Infrequent drink refills were a disappointment, as well. Fortunately, the great Bob Hamlin was there that night!"

The executive chef and owner is Chilean and he brings a lot of Latin American influence to his kitchen. The restaurant is very unpretentious for it's high quality and all of the staff we're extremely friendly.   • "The server was friendly, knowledgeable, and excited about the menu. The bar is prohibition style; they make their simple syrups fresh in house. It really showed in the flavours of their unique cocktails--absolutely beautiful nose and taste! It goes along with atmosphere--brick walls, low lighting, jazz tunes. The food, unfortunately, was hit or miss. I was unimpressed with my starter (fried plantains), and the main course (lobster ravioli with asparagus) was way too salty and the vegetables were cold inside. Dessert was delicious (tres leches). Wife's starter (veal meatball) and main (lamb shank) were delicious, her dessert was BAD. Would go again for cocktails and appetizers, but spend your money elsewhere for better entrees."

  • "Went with a good friend for the Restaurant Week menu. Let me 1st say that our waiter was immediately by our side and very attentive throughout our experience. I had the meatball appetizer, the lamb shank and the chocolate 'madness'cake. My friend ordered the plantains appetizer, the lobster ravioli and the bruselina dessert. The veal meatball appetizer was HUGE and very juicy and tasty! Everything was delicious. We were able to share our entire meal with each other and still could not finish it all!!! A very good value ($25)!!"

  • "Near the theater on East Main Ave, this trendy little restaurant with a storied past produces award winning meals. The mussels, as an appetizer, were delicious, with a spicy sauce that invited dipping. The scallops, baked in cheese, and served on a shell, we're the best I have tasted in many years. This restaurant is worthy of many curtain calls."

No notes on the door and no courtesy call throughout the day to let me know that the restaurant was closed down. No idea what happened, or why the restaurant was suddenly closed an vacated for the night."

  • "We had reservations here before a show one night. We were seated right away but then no one came to our table for 15 minutes with water or anything. My husband made his way to the bar to ask for a server but that took awhile so we just decided to eat in the bar area. Once sitting down there the bartenders waited on us and they were very personable. They recommended great drinks and tapas. The bartenders really put on a show as well! All in all it was a great meal. Our first 15 minutes were not great but the night ended well."

Everything was great except for our bartender who seemed more interested in interacting with his co-workers than serving ppl at the bar. Getting his attention was difficult at times and it wasn't very busy. Besides that, other staff were great and so was the food!"

They seemed a bit understaffed for a busy NYE but our waiter gave it a game effort despite our unfilled water glasses. We never felt neglected but we could tell he was pressed."

As usual cocktails were delicious, but the food impressed even more. My husband had filet and I had lobster ravioli and we finished with a chocolate cake/mousse dessert. Highly recommend this place."
