Dinner interrupted by a couple to
elected to bring a small child (dressed in pajamas) to the establishment. Unfortunately, this little boy did not want to enjoy the atmosphere as much as we did and proceeded to have several melt downs. Each were appx 10 minutes long before dad took the child out into the lobby to calm him, only to return to have the child even more upset. My sister and I were unable to hear each other speak. This is a difficult situation for any manager to deal with, so perhaps that is why they elected to ignore it. My sister and I are quickly and took 1/2 a bottle of wine home with us. I cannot say enough GOOD things about the service and food. But this is NOT the type of relaxing evening we had planned."

I loved my friend's 28oz
Porterhouse steak-my prime rib was good. A bit pricey BUT food was very good!"
Dined on 2/22/2014
They brought my husband a wrong
entree. I had finished my dinner and my husband still had'nt received his entree. I told 3 separate waiters that my husband was still waiting for his correct entree. By the time it came, my husband had it wrapped up and he just took it home. It was a terrible dining experience for an expensive , more upscale , steakhouse. We would never go back."
Dined on 2/15/2014
We were seated right away, which
was a good thing. After being seated, that is when everything went downhill. The service was awful. First off, once our server FINALLY came over we could not even understand what he was saying. After we received out entrees, which took much longer than they should have, our server did not come over even once to see if we needed anything else or if everything was okay. To add insult to our experience, the Manager H***th went to the table behind us on 3 separate occasions and not once did he step over a few feet and check on us. My steak was cooked perfectly, but really lacked flavor. I would never dine here again or reccommend it to anyone. Ruth's Chris and Mastro's is much better!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
The medium rare prime rib was
outstanding. Gibsons is close, but not as good as Shulas."

After enjoying steak and eggs for
breakfast for under $20 at Don Shula's Steak House (located in the Westin Hotel) while on vacation in Fort Lauderdale, I went to the location near my home in Itasca, IL (also located in the Westin Hotel) for steak and eggs on my birthday. I was very disappointed to see that the menu did not even include steak and eggs. The waiter said the smaller steaks had been removed from the menu. He said they could make steak and eggs for me, but it would be priced at the dinner size portion (approx. $40). There were several other items, but all were priced double what one would normally pay. The portions were not overwhelming. Maybe they should remove the words "steak house" from the name."

very nice setting for our special
occasion. nice wine list. you can not go wrong with any steak or fish. highly recommended."

We were there New Years Eve..in a
snow storm... 8 of us in total. very relaxed and quiet, not very full because of the weather... I had always wanted to try Shula's and it was my turn to choose..so I went for it and glad I did... Everyone's food turn out great with one exception. One steak was ordered as rare and was served at medium... However the server was quick to respond and made it right"
Dined on 12/31/2013
Although New Year's Eve we were
early enough to miss big crowd. Only complaint is our wine glasses were empty to often. Should have checked in on drinks more often."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Service was prompt and excellent.
Food was of good quality and taste."

Haven't been here for a couple of
years but will probably start going more often. The dining room is quite comfortable and warm. Tables are set apart enough that you're not bothered by the conversation of others. Server was knowledgable and engaging. Food was very good, and portions were quite ample - even for those with a hearty appetite - like me. Handled special requests with ease. Manager visited the table several times to see if things were going well. It's a little pricey, but so are places like Perry's, Ruth's Chris and Chicago Prime. Quality isn't cheap. Shula's is a little "hidden" in the Westin and I think if it had more visability from the street it might bolster reservations. All-in-all, it was a very pleasing dining exprience."
Dined on 12/20/2013
Service was great. It was nice
that they served everyone a portion of the shared appetizer. Ran out of the fish special, swordfish, so grouper was offered instead. The tomato mozzarella salad was amazing. It was a Sunday night around 6pm and the restaurant was slow which was good for our group."
Dined on 12/15/2013
Food and service were
amazing. Best steaks ever. Sides portions are big enough to share. Expensive, but recommend for special occasions. We will definitely go back."
Dined on 12/7/2013
Very upscale, warm atmosphere and
service! Had a very enjoyable dinner with my daughter!"
Dined on 11/26/2013
My husband & I love to go out for
a good steak & we are never disappointed at Shula's. There are quite a few restaurants that feature prime/angus steaks.....been there, done that! They can't compare to Shula's. Either their food is great but the service or ambience is lacking, or the opposite. At Shula's you get it all. Pricy but really worth it. Great for a special occasion !"
Dined on 11/29/2013
Coach Shula and staff, another
great coach once said "Gentlemen, we will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence". Wonderful job by the team at the NW Chicago location. Excellent food and excellent service."
Dined on 10/22/2013
The food is excellent, but there
were very few diners and it seemed odd to be one of three tables. Also, this pricey restaurant is in a hotel and the other diners were in very casual street clothes (ripped jeans, hooded sweatshirts, athletic shoes)."
Dined on 10/14/2013
I thought the food was pretty good
although I had eaten at a different location and thought it was better. The service was to be desired. For not being very busy they seemed very unorganized For such a pricy restaurant I would have expected better"
Dined on 9/15/2013
Food was very good, but service
was slow. Waited 40 minutes for desert and finaly decided to leave without it after inquiring twice about the wait."
Dined on 9/16/2013
Service was excellent and
efficient. I received a call from restaurant on the day of my reservation to check if I needed anything to make sure our dining experience goes well. Then again another call the day after to check how things went. Parking and valet are free. Quality of steak was top notch."

I had bought this certificate a
while ago and have been waiting for the right opportunity to use it. EXCITED for our Anniversary night out - we went to Shula's. The steak (OVERLY expensive) was exceptional and would've been even better had it not been cold, truffle fries were soggy.....sat 20 min with my Husbands empty wine glass and was only offered 2 desserts both chocolate, did they even have other options, don't know never got to see the dessert menu. Manager NEVER came to our table (she did to some others) to ask us how our night was, shame shame! It was even mentioned in the notes on our reservation that we were celebrating an Anniversary. Our waiter was good and very nice - but unfortunately things didn't go well."

I was celebrating my friend's
birthday and wanted him to enjoy a great steak dinner. The service was excellent and the ambience was perfect for the occasion. He ordered the Surf and Turf and I ordered an 8 oz. filet mignon. When the food came everything was lukewarm, so we sent our meat portions back for reheating. When the server returned, our meat was just warm, not hot. We had asparagus and mushrooms which was also lukewarm. By the time I was taking my last mouthfuls, it was cold. Also, when I was being escorted to my table I was asked whose birthday it was, and shared that it was my friend;s, who would be joining us shortly. Nothing else was said or done by staff to bring attention to it, which brought me further disappointment."
Dined on 9/14/2013
Food and service were outstanding.
Crowd was very small though, may be a sign of the economy."
Dined on 9/8/2013
Disappointing. Food was ok, but
not worth the price. The footballs are ridiculous."
Dined on 8/10/2013
We always enjoy dining at this
restaurant as the staff is very friendly and attentive and the Steaks are Outstanding."
Dined on 7/31/2013
Everything was very nice but the
restaurant is overpriced compared to other similar restaurants in the area. Unless you are staying at the Westin, there are better choices to be made..."
Dined on 12/12/2012
Took my dad here for lunch. Over
$100 without tip... not worth it. Tables spread out too far made it seem like it was unfinished. The dining room chair were about as cheap as could be. Both of ours were sagging in the middle. Nothing impressive about this place at all. Not the ambience that I experienced at other Shula's. Very disappointed overall. Said free valet, but my dad waited 15 min before giving up and parking himself -- He has a very hard time walking so it was an issue for him."
Dined on 6/20/2013
Had a great time with family. We
started with lobster bisque which was thicker than what we are used to. Plus it was more on the fatty side in terms of texture and taste. We also had scallops and a lobster, crab meat, shrimp trio which were both very good. We had 2- 24 oz Porterhouses and 15 oz bone-in filet. Served with corn and mushrooms. The corn was different and good. There wasn't anything exciting about the mushrooms though. For dessert we had Chocolate souffle which was good too. Service was very good too. Overall a good experience."

We had the same waitress we had a
year ago. She is amazing."

I selected this restaurant for a
55th Birthday Dinner for my husband as he is a fan of Don Shula's. We enjoyed every bite and will certainly dine again and share our favorable experience with others. Thank you, Carolyn Johnson"

We celebrated my daughters first
anniversary. She was married at the Westin Itasca NW one year ago. The food/service was excellent. We were treated royally. We had a really terrific experience and would totally recommend it. A bit pricey but we knew that going in....but it was definitely worth the money...the steaks were to die for."
Dined on 5/26/2013
Shula's Steakhouse was very nice,
especially if you love steak. I ordered seafood and it was good. I would definitely recommend this as a place to eat."
Dined on 10/27/2012
Comfortable atmosphere where you
can relax , enjoy good food, good friends and excellent service. It was my wife's birthday which was recognized by the staff as they greeted us at door and throughout dinner as well.. She had the prime rib, perfectly cooked and I had a New York strip steak cooked just the way I like it. The sides of grilled asparagus and potatoes were a great accompaniment to the meal as well. We finished with lava cake for dessert, very good as well. It was a great dining experience. All went smoothly from the convenience of making the reservation through open table to the professional, friendly wait staff at Shula's, and of course the great food!"
Dined on 5/21/2013
I have eaten at Shula's before,
and always enjoy the meal. Although it is located in a "hotel" you are not being offered "hotel food". Highly recommend it -- especially their lobster bisque soup -- it is to die for."
Dined on 4/29/2013
Dinner was incredible. We ordered
appetizers of tuna, beef tips, and calamari. All were delicious. The steaks are are so tender a knife is hardly necessary! And don't leave without trying the molten chocolate cake. It's so rich and chocolatey ... unlike any other I've had. Can't end my review without mentioning the unbelievable service we were given. We felt completely pampered by the time we left. Our servers were always there and available without ever being in the way."
Dined on 4/25/2013
Shula's always is outstanding in
every way. You could not ask for a better experience and I have dined there many times."
Dined on 4/6/2013
The food is always outstanding.
Everyone is always very friendly. Everyone makes you feel right at home and this makes the dining experience that much better."
Dined on 4/12/2013
We frequently visit Shula's for
its consistant good service and well prepared food. Took the wife for her birthday dinner Saturday evening and once the wait staff knew of the special day, offered her a complimentary custom made dessert for two... nice touch and very tasty. The follow up visit phone call to me the next day by management is caring and classy too. This restaurant ranks with us highly and compares as well to Ruths Chris and Mortons, so Shula's is well worth the visit."
Dined on 3/23/2013
I took my boyfriend here for his
birthday. Our service was the worst we have encountered. Never offered a second drink. First drink was missing lime, and had to wait forever for them to bring one after asking twice. Server after ignoring us for 10 minutes came over and asked "so are you going to eat something?". Greeter made a big point to tell my boyfriend all about how delicious his bday dessert would be, only for nobody to ever bring it. Our steaks were improperly cooked and had to be sent back. And they piled both our meals on top of one another along with our sides into one box with no seperators. All this cost me a couple hundred. Felt like my boyfriends special night was ruined. Skip this place."
Dined on 3/9/2013
This was our first time at Shula's
and we enjoyed it tremendously....Me being a big Bears Fan, I enjoyed seeing all of the football memorabilia all over.Food was excellent and we will definitely come back. Thanks for a great evening."
