  • "We are thankful that this was not our first visit or we probably would not return; it will be a while even at best to come back. The food was very good but the very poor service over shadowed that the experience; form the beginning to the end."

  • "Took us early and were very open to changes based on my sons schedule. Considerate dress code. Steaks were great and we shared sides. Silver Oak cabernet was excellent. Sat next to kitchen entrance that was a bit noisy at times."

  • "Shulas in Tampa is a must . The restaurant is elegant and sophisticated . Steaks are great and the ice cream in a Carmel nut bowl delicious."

  • "Having struggled to find the place, as it is buried inside a hotel, the actual restaurant is very tastefully decorated, but very quiet. Food was fine, not great for the prices charged. More a business venue than family"

  • "This was our first time to shulas.it was a good dining experience the portions were big so me and my wife split the porterhouse steak bake potato and green beans.the wine by the glass was a very nice portion to.i will return"

  • "GREAT food and service, but needed to be reminded for drink refills. Being from Chicago, appreciate great steaks and steak joints, this is NO joint. Partial to Da Coach's restaurants in Chicago, dat being Ditka's. Da Bears."

  • "Porterhouse was excellent. Filet was tender and flavorful. Service was prompt and friendly. Sauteed mushrooms were great. A better view would be nice for the Tampa restaurant; garden or window, but overall a very quiet, romantic experience. Thanks."

  • "We actually enjoyed the service better than the food. They acknowledged my boyfriend's birthday several times, as well as provided free chocolate cake. I was very impressed to be assigned two waiters. They provided us with everything we needed in a very timely manner."

  • "Shula's was great food!, the service was very poor. We had a party of 10 and started out with 3 waiters. Ended with hard to find one. I never check my bill, generally just pay it. Our bill was split into 4 checks and each of us had to double check the bill. Two of us had extra things on the bill.... Still one of my favorites but I will be hesitant to go back. The bill had 18% added since we had a large group! and I always tip extra. Not this time!, David"

  • "This Shula's was below average. The meat had too much grizzle; we were placed in the lobby area of the hotel although we had reservations and we were overcharged. We had a birthday coupon that was to pay for one entree ($41 plus $6 cake). The coupon specified that gratuity would be automatically added. A "service fee" was added to our bill that was $23.22. I specifically asked Anna and then the bartender if the "service fee" on the receipt was the gratuity and was told "NO." So that I would not short-change Anna, I tipped another $15.00. I was misled. I want my $15.00 back for my additional tip. So, on a $161 meal or $114 after "coupons," I over-tipped for a total of $38.22 for a sub-par meal. Won't be back."

  • "we try to eat here as much as possible . We love the steaks and of course the football theme also. Its quite an upscale theme which adds a little romantic appeal to our evening .The waiters are just wonderful ,they are kind and always at your whim for any need and to keep your drinks topped. The taste of our food is so great we often ask ourselves why we eat any place else , except that its geared for adults so the atmosphere is calm and the conversations are low keyed which brings in the romance of the evening. Its so worth the trip every time ."

  • "As always, Shula's food and service is consistently good. Presentation of food and sequencing of meal are excellent. This is what a good restaurant should be, consistent and quality driven."

  • "I was in town, alone, and on business, and decided to try Shula's. What a disappointment. My meal was average and service was poor. Hostess and wait staff were unprofessional and surly."

  • "We were given a gift certificate for Christmas and we had a very good dinner at Shula's. We both had the prime rib which was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive."

  • "The only problem we had was that we ate toooo much! Everything was excellent! Save room for dessert !"

  • "Went to Shula's for my anniversary. For the price I expected to be WOWWED by the meal, but it was just ok. Kind of tacky placing a football on a dirty kicking tee in the middle of my wife's plate. Servers were attentive but lacked communication with each other. Best part was the heavy handed bartender."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Waiter a bit officious. May have been very knowledgeable but was cool."

  • "service was great when we first arrived, however, as the evening went on and tables for 4 filled up, the waitsytaff spent much more time with them and we we sort of forgotten. although waitstaff was congenial and energetic, we got lost in the shuffle in the desswert time and check efficiency"

  • "The only saving grace to our experience was our waiters was it not for them we would have left in the middle of dinner. The service in the bar before dinner was so non existant we had to go to the bar and order ourselves and when it came time to pay The bill I had to take it to the server to have her scan so was busy talking with a coworker. During dinner the noise level was so loud if my wife and I could not read lips we would not have been able to carry on a conversation. As I said our waiters were very good as for the food lets just say two days later I am still suffering the effects of my dinner. We have eaten at Shulas in Key West (it's a shame they left) and in Miami we have always had a wonderful dining experience in the past."

  • "the 20 oz Kansas city cut steak and the south African cold water lobster tail are unmatched by any place else, the lobster is the tenderest most flavorfull I have ever eaten (and ive eaten an ocean s worth of lobster),and the kc cut steak is by far the best steak,"

  • "The 12 ounce filet mignon was outstanding. It couldn't have been more perfect (medium rare, as requested). The service was great. We had pre-ordered dessert, but had to cancel it because we just ran out of room). But, the waiter noticed we were celebrating an anniversary and brought us a piece of cake, on the house, to take home."

  • "Very bright with white walls and noise level made it hard to hear at the table. Steak house is normally quiet and dark and relaxing. This was in a hotel and felt like it. For a steak that is $45 plus sides it did not have the ambience for the money"

  • "My wife and I were in Tampa celebrating 25 years Together.....Billy Joel at The Forum on Friday then Shula's Steaks on Saturday .....A Fitting End to a Fabulious Weekend!!!!!! • "I went for my birthday. I was sent a birthday email to receive a free dinner. Between the poor, extra slow service and the annoying manager "questioning" the validity of my coupon, ruined the entire affair. The food was good, but very overpriced! I will not return. If you want a great steak in Tampa there are several restaurants that are a cut above Shula's!"

  • "While uncorking our bottle of red wine at our table, the waitor sprayed us and about 6 feet up the wall behind us. Did he continue to pour our glasses from that bottle? Yes! Half the bottle is spotting the white table cloth, my boyfriend's shirt, and my forehead. Did we get any kind of discount for that? No! The calamari and wedge salad were fine, our medium ordered steaks were over-cooked, and the mashed potatoes were cold. Oh, and our water glasses were never refilled. Incredibly disappointing New Year's Eve dinner."

  • "Though not as football oriented as the Original Shula's, the Tampa Shula's lives up to the excellence of the Original. The food was prepared perfectly and the service was friendly, helpful, and timely."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "We went there New Year's Eve. As always the food is served properly prepared and the service is excellent. Since we went to the Palm the previous week, we were able to compare. The Filet Mignon was nicer at Shula's. Pricing was about the same. We find the service at Shula's a lot less pretentious than at the Palm."

  • "Three of us ordered food and drinks. Service was slow. The waiter seem confused and moved slowly. The steak was dry and barley warm when we were served. The bread was awesome."
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "It was New Year's Eve, so it was busy. Service was choppy, lacking rhythm and not very personable-waiter never smiled. He seemed stressed or irritated. Food was excellent but the "overall experience" was not worth the bill. We had a party of 6 so an 18% gratuity was automatically added. During the Holidays we tend to tip more generously - but we felt in this case it would be sending the wrong message. There are so many great steak venues for fine dining in Tampa that have great service as well, we will never choose Shula's again. Sorry Shula's, we won't be back."

  • "Never disappoints. Beats Burns and Ruth's Chris as Tampa's best steaks. Be willing to pay accordingly but you wLk get your money's worth"

  • "Food is excellent-It is expensive-everything is ala carte"
    Dined on 12/29/2013
  • "What a disappointment. Our reservation for Christmas dinner had been mishandled by a Clearwater restaurant, so we were left scrambling. Only a few restaurants were left and now, we know why. Even with the so called surf and turf special of $60 each for two, we added appetizers and tip, plus ala carte orders of mashed potatoes and green beans, came to $223 and it was mediocre at best. The restaurant was almost empty. If you look closely is worn. It has a 90's feel. If it would not had been Christmas, I would have complained and that poor excuse for a filet would have gone back. The lobster tale was decent. Blah experience."

  • "This is lesson learnt that you can't always use Open Table! Christmas day lunch with mother in law and wanting a change from the so so Chart House. Reviewers really like Shula's, its close to mom and they have a veal chop (mom's favorite). So we get there at 11.30 (mom likes early) and place is basically empty. Bottom line: they aren't serving Christmas Day lunch! Its just their regular lunch which they serve in the bar area! Basically sandwiches and steaks (hey, its a steakhouse). Having said that... waitress was great, best lobster bisque ever, decent enough steak salad and au jus sandwiches. Really really good crème brulee trio for desert. We actually left happy and with a tab about a third of what we were expecting to spend."

  • "My husband and I had Christmas dinner at Shula's. Everything was top notch. We both had the 8oz filet mignon and for sides he potato gratin and green beans. All were just delightful. My husband also decided to try the lobster bisque as a starter and stated "it's the best o ever has!" Eventhough we were full to the max, we somehow found room to try dessert. We shared the chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle. Wow! Delicious! Service was fantastic. We will be looking forward to our next dinner at Shula's"

  • "It was Christmas Day eve. Service was somewhat typical Shula's however not the norm. I was surprised that the steak (12 oz filet) arrived overcooked - of course I was asked to cut into the steak to ensure it was prepared to expectations, but odd to see the request was followed with the servers departure without confirmation. I looked up and he was gone. Outside of that, the kids enjoyed their meals. Did find it odd that the guest at a table 15' away were not encouraged to lower their voices as they dropped multiple F bombs with the occasional "another round of shots". I'd still return - in the hopes I don't have a repeat experience like this one."

  • "The bread and steak were great. The prime rib and sides were not very good and poor compared to other high end steak restaurants. Past visits were better. The waiters were pleasant and aattentive. This will be my last visit to a Shula:s."

  • "I took my wife to Shula's for her birthday and it was an outstanding experience. We both had the 12 oz Filet and split a baked potato. Our meat was cooked to perfection and the baked potato (shared on the advice of our waiter) was more than enough for each of us and delicious. The piece of cake they brought for her celebration was the perfect ending for the meal. It was a very special experience."
