  • "I have eaten at Shula's in other cities. This one did not disappoint. Wonderful wait staff, wonderful food, great atmosphere and just an all around fantastic dining experience. If you're in NYC and you're looking for a quiet, upscale dinner, you won't go wrong with Shula's."

  • "Great food, wine and service all within a timely fashion allowing one to get to a show with plenty of time to spare. One can't ask for more in the heart of broadway!"

  • "For a higher-end steak house with prices to match, the level of service did not quite keep up. It was "ok" and the food itself was good."

  • "Good food and service; ambience was just ok; expensive."

  • "The night I dined at Shula's was so terribly cold outside that I changed my reservation from a restaurant in the meatpacking district, to a place closer to the bus terminal. I commute daily by bus. The service was very good. To be honest steak houses are a dime a dozen in NYC. How surprised was I when my steak arrived and it was excellent. My friend had lobster tails which melted in your mouth. The asparagus was fresh and cooked just right. Staff was also very friendly. A hidden gem in the Times Square/Hells Kitchen area of NYC. Will definitely dine at Shula's again."

  • "I am a fan of the Shula's in Florida and this was my first visit to the NY location. This is the best of the bunch. Everything was perfect from the quality of the meat to the preparation of the sides. Great for pre-theater dinner."

  • "From the start, the entrance from the street left me a little confused since it lead to an open seating area next to the hotel's desk. No one addressed me and I had to ask where the restaurant was. Leaving the elevator, was more of the same since there was no one at the bar to direct me to the hostess stand. It felt like I was walking in before they were even open. Once seated, the level of attention didn't change until a couple servers passed me by. I noticed a water glass with water stains and I had a dirty salad fork. Once that was addressed, I had salty fries and steak. Not what I was expecting from this restaurant but they may have been off since there was only one other table there and they hadn't found their "groove" yet for the day."

  • "First of all, Shula's is located inside of the Westin Hotel. Looking all around for the restaurant, and finally asked the porter outside the hotel....sure enough "you are there, you just don't know it" ! :-) Our food arrived perfectly prepared (medium rare), however after just a few bites, realized that it was 'good' but only 'luke warm'. We mentioned it to our waiter, and without hesitation, it was removed and returned piping hot, and not dried out as we had feared with reheating. The ambiance was relaxing and elegant......until the group of 25 arrived, when the room became loud and raucous. Luckily, we were just leaving !"

  • "Had dinner for four at Shula's Steakhouse in the Westin Hotel on a Wednesday night. We dined during NYC Restaurant Week (price fixed menus) and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated promptly and asked for drink orders from our server while being given warm bread to start. We kept it simple with chef's salads which were good portions and an order of blackened scampi which was very good (I would have liked two or three pieces but the one piece sufficed). Our entree's were nice sized sirlon's (two 8oz steaks and one 16oz for an additional $15) and breast of chicken. We were running late for our 8pm theater reservation and were given our desserts "to go". The regularly prices items were expensive so be aware."

  • "The steak was a little disappointing. Much smaller than I have had here before and it tasted just okay. Perhaps due to it being Restaurant Week? Didn't leave a desire to come back."

  • "Overall a good job. The food was wonderful, the service was so-so. A bus boy actually shooshed me when I attempted to ask him to locate my waiter. The ambience is nice, but a bit boring if you are not a Miami Dolphins fan. It is not as crowded with tables as some restaurants, but it was still close enough to hear the neighboring table's dissertation on world peace. Again it was the food that saved this meal. Quality ingredients, prepared nicely, very tasty!"

  • "Everyone from the Waitstaff to the Chef were amazing. The food was truly mouth watering and the beverages were quite tasty. The Waitstaff were knowlegeable about the food and were able to recommend perfect selections. Chef Baz introduced himself and he is a true gentleman. What an honor for us.Thank you for a great dining experience."

  • "My fiancée and I decided to go to Shula's before a going to a comedy show that evening and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The food was very good and the service was excellent. A quiet atmosphere allowed for intimate conversation but not necessarily a romantic one. A great overall experience. Would definitely dine here again."

  • "Service was super slow. Surprising considering there were not many patrons in the restaurant. No one was at the door to take us to a table. Waited 10 minutes, then went to the bar to ask if anyone was there to take us to our table. Waited another 5 minutes before someone came. Drink order to 15 minutes for water and a coke. Appetizers took 20 minutes to come, main meal to another 30 minutes, and desserts took 25 more minutes. Only thing that came reasonably fast was the check. There was a family of 4 who came 45 minutes after we (party of 2) did. They finished before we got our desserts. The food was good which made the long amounts of wait times more tolerable. I would only recommend this place if the service wait times improves."

  • "Shula's Steak House at the Westin Hotel is a good "Hotel Restaurant". It has a clubby feel, and would be a great place for a business meeting. The problem is that in NYC with so many choices, you can do better. But, if you are staying at the hotel for business it is a good convenient choice."

  • "Highs - Service (professional, prompt, and polite from the hostess to the servers); cocktails, bread, salmon Lows - steak, sides, salads, and deserts were nothing special but were fine Overall - a pleasant experience but for the money I would definitely go back to other steak houses that are a cut above (the old BLT, Striphouse, etc.)"

  • "If you want way over priced room service type food (literally served in the metal tin's and all), I would highly recommend this place. Timing was very strange and off."

  • "This was a last minute choice on valentines day. I was surprised they even had an open reservation but after my and my sister ate we understood why. The steak was dry and under seasoned. We couldn't find our waitor throughout our dinner and the lady who say us had an attitude. I will say the bartender that night was extremely pleasant."

  • "With all the wonderful choices in NYC, this doesn't measure up to the very best, but it's still a very good choice for dinner in the Times Square area. The steaks are quite good and perfectly done, but one person was disappointed in the prime rib (no bone, and looked like it had been left under the heat lamp for 20 minutes, so it was no longer a nice medium rare roast and looked more like a rib steak). Sides are standard steakhouse. Portions are more than adequate. Wines--look for their specials, those are worthwhile, what's on the standard list can have quite a sizeable mark-up over retail value."

  • "We were so pleased that we dined at Shula's on Sat. evening. The food was outstanding - better than ever. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Wait time between courses was perfect. The food came out hot and perfectly done to each individual's specifications. Soups, salads, sides, and deserts were also very well done. The restaurant is right back at the top of our list as a favorite."

  • "Our steaks were prepared just like we requested. The mashed potatoes were freshly made and very tasty. There were very good choices on the wines by the glass list. Our salads were very good as well. The only "weakness" was dessert. The key lime pie and seven layer cake were just ok. Overall I recommend this restaurant."

  • "My husband and I were expecting something along the lines of Rurth's Chris Steakhouse. We had no problem getting last minute reservations before a show - which was nice, but always raises concerns. My husband's steak was tender but tasteless. The waiter forgot to ask if he wanted to order a sauce. When my husband asked, they brought Bearnaise out immediately. But it was pasty. If you go, get the $50 pp option - cheaper and same quality."

  • "My husband & I visit Shulas at the Westin about 3 times/year. We've learned they make consistently good food, & service that ranges from exceptional to pretty good(depending on who you get). Highly recommend: BBQ bacon shrimp & seared ahi tuna apps. The scallop entree is delicious! always cooked perfectly- and a large portion (5 big ones!). However, for being a steakhouse, the filet isn't perfect. Sure it's tender & cooked to requested med-rare, but very bland (no seasonings)- even adding bernaise, it still needed quite a bit of salt (bernaise was bland too- try any of their other sauces). The sides are typical & sized for 2 people to share. We enjoy potato gratin or garlic mashed, and corn cooked with bacon is also tasty."

  • "Terrific appetizers, steak, sides, wine, and dessert (save room for the chocolate lava cake). I've been to places with food that makes me want to eat as much as fast as possible, but it's rare to find a place that makes me want to slow down and savor everything. Shula's steakhouse is definitely in the latter category."

  • "Yes we know bevor, that the prices are not favorable but for this price level we expected a perfect dinner! Regrettably, our tabel was directly next to a sideboard and every few minutes a server came to get cutlery or crockery out of the sideboard. It was very noisy and we were really irritated. Our wineglases had water spots from dishwasher. I`m not niggeling but for this price level that is a darned cheeck! My girlfriend had fish for entree. The fish was over-cooked and apparantly at shulas you have to use a steak knife for eating fish. I had the Filet Mignon and it tasted pretty good. Expect the Filet Mignon there was nothing of the menue we could call as a special. We paid 280$ for a menue for two but this dinner were not worth the money!"

  • "I keep returning to this restaurant because the food is simply outstanding. The service is the best you could ask for, with a great ambiance, and conveniently located. The steak is always cooked perfectly, and the sides are large for sharing and offer a nice variety. Save room for dessert!"

  • "i reserved for the new year´s eve celebration by mail, i booked a 3 course seating fo $99. When I arrived they told that as i had reserved at 9:00pm, the cost was $175. I was never warned about this in the mail I got as confirmation. I was very upset since it was twice I had calculated."

  • "My wife and I visited New York for New Years eve and stayed at the Westin, we thought for convenience we would book dinner at Shula's, as we knew it would it be very busy on NYE. This was a 3 course inclusive meal deal for NYE, and so was a limited menu in comparison to what you might normally expect. The home baked bread was excellent, the lobster bisque was creamy and tasty, the steak however (filet mignon) was a little dry (although cooked to medium rare) and I would rate about 6.5/10 compared to what we would normally enjoy in Australia (would normally an eye fillet steak). Overall, not bad - would be keen to see what they could do when their normal menu was available, as fixed menus invariably are a compromise."
