Shula's Steak House - NYGood First ExperienceOur first time at Schula's turnd out to be quite enjoyable. I do not usually like restaurants located in hotels but this steakhouse was quite good. The food was delicious, the waiter we had was quite attentive, and the staff very accomodating.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a wonderful experience!I stayed in the hotel and decided to dine at Shula's for the convenience because it was raining. I brought my 71 yr old mother to the city for an overnight trip to see a broadway play. Alphonso was excellent. He was attentive, prompt and professional. The chef came to our table to ask how we enjoyed the meal. All of the food was delicious and delightful. The entire experience was awesome! I will come again on my next visit to NY! TH6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBad SeatI was on the end half against the wall half in ht open and the party room was right next door so it was a little loud.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPar Excellence at Shula'sI always find dining at Shula's Steak House at the Westin Hotel Times Square to be outstanding in all respects. Service, atmosphere, food - all outstanding.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch/Breakfast FoodMy daughter and I were staying at the Westin Times Square and wanted to have Brunch somewhere convenient, since it was rainy and windy. We chose to go downstairs to Shula's and shared two meals - waffle, omelet, home fries and toast. The bacon tasted burned so we passed on that. We had asked that the fruit be put on the side and we didn't want whipped cream. The fruit was on the waffle and the whipped cream came on the plate. Not a huge problem but our request was not met. There was no butter for the toast. Again, not a problem so we did without. The food was tasty and the price, although expensive, was appropriate for New York City prices. All in all, a delicious meal and we were satisfied and not hungry until 6 hours later!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably the best meal I haveProbably the best meal I have had in NYC for a long time.
I had the lamb which was excellent. Our waiter was great.
I requested a quiet romantic table and they went out of their way to give us some where nice and quiet
5 STARS !!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Steak House!Shula's was excellent! from drinks to dessert, this was a great experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service! We chose to eat at Shula's in NY for our anniversary. The service at the NY location was exemplary. I read a few reviews before going and was skeptical because they spoke about the service and the food not being good. We ordered from the pre theatre dinner menu. My husband's dinner was perfect but I had a little problem with my steak and brought it to their attention, and the problem was immediately remedied. The chef came to our table at least three times to make sure we were satisfied. They even gave us the molten lava dessert free of charge as well as another dessert. This is the type of restaurant that will immediately address and fix the problem if brought to their attention. Great service and good food! Cudos to the chef.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family and I frequent Shula'sMy family and I frequent Shula's as our go to restaurant when we come into NYC, especially when seeing a Broadway show. The location cannot be beat. We like that they offer a "fixed" rate menu; however, the options could be more expansive, especially in the dessert department. Cheesecake or fruit? Really, Shula's that's the best you can do?
As for this experience: Overall, our meal was fine, but the service was lacking this time around. Had to ask for lemons for water, bread for the table, etc. I was beginning to get the feeling that since we were not drinking, and we only ordered from the set menu, we really were not a priority.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMShula'sAte lunch at Shula's and was pleasantly surprised by the Mother's Day Brunch....terrific low price for a very
good selection. Included was a glass of champagne for the moms, although I got a glass as it was also my 60th
Birthday. Our waiter, Don was professional, courteous and was an added bonus to our experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchTook my wife and daughters to Shulas on Mother's Day. The meal was excellent and very good service as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMloved itI went to Shula's for a pre-show dinner.. the service was excellent and speedy. The steak was OUTSTANDING.. I had the cowboy ribeye.. I ate everyone one of the 22 oz!! it was served ala cart, so my husband and I ordered a side of grilled asparagus that we shared- it was the perfect sharing portion. I loved the fact the chef personally came to our table to see how our steaks were.. we will definitely be going back!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMour steak entrees were allour steak entrees were all cooked as ordered. Wait staff were helpful and cordial. We were originally seated inside where most of the tables were but requested to be seated where the reception area is so we managed to enjoy our meals because it was quieter.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find Before the TheatreShula's is a great restaurant before the threatre or anytime. The dining room is lovely, quiet and the service is great. We have meet the chef both times and the food terrific. I would highly recommend it.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood...reliable...not great,,,For our first visit to Shula's, that's the best way to describe it. My steak was very good, not great. The sides were very good, not great. Same for my soup and wife's salad. My carrot cake was great. Service was kind, but not pushy....but again, nothing extraordinary. I speak in this tone because I feel that when you go to a steakhouse, it should be an extra special experience, afterall, the ambiance is dark and classy, etc. Everything was good...just not memorable enough for me to run back. If somebody asked me if they should go, I would say yes...but don't expect it to be "amazing".5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENT STEAKSteak had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. Very good service. Will definitely go back. We also enjoy the Shula's
in Florida on a Disney properly. They are excellent with families with children as well as couples.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff very attentive. GoodStaff very attentive. Good atmosphere for steak house. My wife's steak was good for her @ medium but mine was overlooked for medium rare. Location very handy for our pre-Broadway show.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent steak and service.excellent steak and service. We will go back again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleased with the overallVery pleased with the overall experience. Nice atmosphere, very quiet and private. This was a 30th Anniversary trip and Shula's was one of the highlights of our trip.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous place to have a greatFabulous place to have a great meal near all the Broadway excitement to help accentuate the special time NYC offers. It was just great and I hope to return soon!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good steak (standardVery good steak (standard Shula´s, the same was on my stay at Shula´s in New Orleans) & wine for "relative good price". Very nice was greeting from chef cook direct at the table).4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMShula's hit all the properShula's hit all the proper notes for dinner. It is well situated for seeing a show.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place - little hard to findThe only negative was that we couldn't find the restaurant until we figured out it was in the Westin Hotel - there is definitely not the proper outside signage to identify where the restaurant is and bring people in the door! Aside from that, we were treated like royalty from the moment we entered the restaurant which is on the mezzanine level of the hotel. Our waiter, our meal and even the chef who came around to speak to ,and he was delightful, was superb! It was my husband's birthday and our anniversary so they did a little extra and it was very appreciated. I'd go back the next time we are in NY in a heartbeat just for a beautiful dinner.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding meal. I had theOutstanding meal. I had the 12 oz. filet, whicg was cooked to perfection. Service was also first class, and the location was superb. At least a doze major theaters within 5-10 minutes walk. There is definitely a return visit in our future4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steak in New York CityTook my wife and mother-in-law while on holiday, and we all agreed it was the best steak we'd ever had. The service was exemplary, being both attentive and yet not intrusive. The chef came out to speak to us after our meal, and was charming and friendly. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMsteaks were ordered mediumsteaks were ordered medium rare but came out closer to medium....everything else was very good.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were so pleased with Shula's.We were so pleased with Shula's. I had read several reviews and can't quite figure out what restaurant those people were eating at. We were greeted by a lovely hostess. Our waiter was extremely attentive. During dinner, Chef Baz walked around the room to check that the diners were satisfied (when was the last time that happened in a NY restaurant)? I had the Prime Rib - absolutely delicious...tender, tasty, and perfectly cooked. The room itself is charming...perfect lighting...soft music (not intrusive) and the bonus was that the two top tables have a great space between them so you can actually walk to the inside seat without pulling out the table and hope that you don't wipe everything off the table next to you. Going back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA little hard to find as IA little hard to find as I didn't expect it to be in the Westin Hotel. For appetizers, we got the crab cake that was unbelievable and the lobster bisque which was amazing. We both had filets. She loved her 5 oz, but as a guy, get the upgrade to the 8 oz at a minimum. It was so tender, you really could skip the knife. Service was excellent, even with the restaurant near capacity at the height of the dinner crowd. It is a little pricey if you are on a budget, but not outlandish for Manhattan. It was a great meal for the price. There are many excellent steakhouses in NYC, and this one will not disappoint. It is fairly small, so make sure you get reservations ahead of time.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and staff were excellent.Food and staff were excellent. Noisy kids there when we first arrived. Miami Dolphins pictures on the wall. No labels. Go for the food rather than the ambiance. Would definitely go back.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! Great food. BeWonderful! Great food. Be sure to ask for the Lobster mashed potatoes (not on the menu). Great staff!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMhad lunch with my girlfriendhad lunch with my girlfriend friday 3/22, we both had the panini special and it was delicious...only issues i had was there was no exterior signage so it hard to find. also it was very slow at 2pm maybe 6 diners total, we stood there for ten minutes before someone noticed us....but good experience overall, bit overpriced but it's nyc, $75 for two sandwiches and one glass of wine is steep....you need an expense account to dine there...lol..3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent againExcellent food - the bread, shrimp cocktail, and steak were all excellent.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
