Diner Reviews
  • "I booked this table for my wife and I for our first anniversary. She had never heard of Shula's, so she was a bit surprised by how professional the staff was. The menu selection is wonderful and the display of signature steaks before ordering was just amazing. We both had the 24oz Porterhouse cooked rare and they were perfect. We were greatly pleased and will return again for a special occasion. "

  • "Although the service was great, and our glasses never emptied, the prices were a little high. The place was empty which led me to believe this is not the spot it is advertised to be. Oh yea, the "Too Much Service", we did not appreciate the service from the gnats flying around."

  • "Overall, we had a great experience. The table was nice and so was the view. The service was probably the best part. The food was good. The filet had an interesting seasoning but was cooked perfectly. The ribeye was delicious. The grilled asparagus had a smokey flavor but it was too smokey."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to the Indy Shula's and again I was blown away by the service and food. From the right garnish for a Hendrick's gin martini (cucumber) to the Oscar-style KC Strip grilled perfectly to the fresh and vibrant salad."

  • "Server's white jacket was not clean. Sleeves were dirty. In such a fine restaurant, we waited almost 10 minutes before anyone came to table (restaurant was at 7 pm at most 60 % full. Several empty tables around us). On that note, we did see servers that made a very good impression on us. The manager stopped by for maybe 20 seconds to see how our food was and was actually walking away before we had a chance to give any feed back . The beef was excellent and delicious!!"

  • "We had a group of 12 visiting Indy for the Big 10 Tournament last week. The management worked with us on a few changes in our reservation due to game times running later than expected. Even with the changes in our reservations we were seated promptly and our service was superb. All 12 of our group absolutely loved each and every part of our meal. The portions were very "shareable" so we were able to taste several different sides, and all were delicious. We will definitely visit Shula's again!"

  • "We have been to Shula's restaurants in a couple of other cities, so when we saw that there was a Shula's in The Westin (Indianapolis) where we were staying, it was a no brainer. Great food, excellent wait staff, perfect steak and side dishes and dessert to die for."

  • "We never even made it to the steaks, we were totally ignored and left after the appetizers. They weren't even busy. In the course of 1.5 hours we heard the wait and management staff say "we apologize" at least 10 times, to us and the tables near us. Horrible, don't bother!!"

  • "The food-steaks were out of this world, service just perfect-servers there when needed and did not overdo presence."

  • "I hosted a customer dinner for long time and very important customers. The steak of one of the customers was badly over cooked, he had ordered the Porterhouse medium rare. All of the other steaks had also arrived at the table. My customer sent his back and it took 20 minutes during which time we had asked about the steak. When it finally came out to the table, again 20 minutes later, all the rest of the steaks at the table were cold. I didn't feel it was right to eat in front of my customer while he waited, and waited for his meal. This was the third consecutive year that I took customers to Shulas however I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK."

  • "My wife's food was delicious! I ordered salmon cause it's my favorite but when it came out it was almost raw. Spoiled my dinner. And our server didn't do the presentation like all the other tables got. Bad experience for a 200 dollar meal."

  • "The steaks were great, but the Au Gratin potatoes were cold and very bland tasting. Portions were more than adequate. Service was very good. I would return here before going back to the overcrowded, high noise level of St. Elmo's."

  • "The atmosphere was too loud. The food was over priced for the quality. I will probably not return."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, food was great and Mike our waiter was wonderful. We'll be back for sure and we're bringing more guests the next time we come."

  • "Steaks at Texas Road House that were just as good and only cost $15.00. Not impressed with the quality of the food."

  • "Marginal food/service. Value received for price paid was not there."

  • "My husband and myself spent a weekend in downtown Indianapolis as a small staycation and had dinner reservations at Shula's. We have been to St. Elmo's, so we decided to try out a different place. We were seated right away at a cozy table for 2 and a nice view out the window. Service was great, except for the one waiter who poured soda into my tea, without asking me what I was drinking. They did take care of it right away. The steak was decent, but seemed to lack some seasoning as did the potatoes gratin. I can't put my finger on what as missing in the potatoes, but there was DEFINITELY something missing and they were more like scalloped potatoes and not au gratin. There are certainly better steak houses in the area for the same price"

  • "We had a very good waiter. The only thing I have to say is that they are a little pricey. Jeff Ruby,s has a much better tasting steak. But very good sea scallops."

  • "Courteous waitress. However, my steak had to be return (under cooked). They also brought out the wrong side which also had to be returned. While waiting for my dinner, my date began to eat without one of the sides we had ordered. The side they did bring out (mushrooms) was luke warm, not hot. Due to the number of returns and having to wait for my meal while my date ate and luke warm side ruined the great dining experience were were anticipating."

  • "Great food and service. On our particular visit, the table of 6 next to us (all adults) were very loud, lots of flashes from 3 cameras every time a picture was taken. That was before the drinks. Would have thought it it was their first time out in public. Other than that, all good."

  • "My husband received a gift card from Shulas as a retirement gift. We decided to use it for a special occasion like our anniversary. But it snowed that day. So we saved it for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We're glad we did. Shulas made this a very special occasion. Thank you"

  • "My wife and I both enjoyed our dinner at shula's. The service was excellent! The food was outstanding! We never had a empty glass or dirty plate on the table and not even a crumb on the table cloth. Every time the someone came for a refill or check on us they used a little crumb tool to clean the table!! I had the 22oz cowboy ribeye and it was probably the best steak I've ever had and cooked to perfection!!! I would recommend this place to anyone and I'm sure we will be returning as well."

  • "The filet was amazing. The potatoes had a little too much garlic, but that's the only criticism I would have for the food. Out waiter was great. We had reservations and arrived a bit early. We waited in the bar and watched a few others be seated before us even after our reservation time. After asking, we were finally seated."

  • "We like to try new restaurants on Devour Downtown evenings. You have replaced our long time favorite steak place, we've always preferred Morton's over other steak places. You will see us again in the near future."

  • "First time but probably my last time my jumbo crab cake was really delicious but they truly dropped the ball on main course got the chicken breast and it's was so burnt on top it tasted like charcoal on top I had to cut off the top portion just to make it edible although I should've complained I've never been much of one my wife's steak wasn't the best pretty dry as well ordered medium got close to well the Mac and cheese was good and the chocolate cake was the best I've had in years would love to have that again.. I will say service was very excellent though those guys were great.. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing who knows but for a 120 bucks expected more..great wine selection as well"

  • "Shula's of course was an awesome experience for their meats. My fiance had the pork chop and I had the filet. Both were amazing. The whole experience was good except for two things. The deserts were not as good as we expected they would be. They just seemed to be "run of the meal" and nothing spectacular. The other thing that was just a feeling was I felt like we were being rushed. We were not even offered an after dinner coffee or drink. Actually, we were not offered anything else once the desert was brought to us. Overall, we would go back for the meat selections but that's about it."

  • "Our Shulas dining experience was fantastic! Of course the porions were smaller for the devour downtown special but worth the price! Not sure I would pay full price to go back! The filet was deliecious but nothing separated it from the other steak houses on why I should pick theirs over others! I enjoyed the atomsphere but was a little loud in there! The service was top notch and when I accidently left my valet ticket in with my receipt, our waitress ran it down to us. Just the extra effort! When devour rolls around again in the summer I'll probably be going back!"

  • "We typically dine at Ruth's or Fogo when we have a taste for something a little more upscale or have more time to enjoy our dining experience. However, we were quite impressed with the flavor and feeling that Shula's provided. Shula's will now definitely be included among one of our favorite downtown restaurants."

  • "Large prons for shrimp cocktail. Best steak ever eaten."
    Dined on 1/31/2014
  • "The restaurant is good, but they do not compare in taste or service to a series of other restaurants in town. Recommend it to others, sure. Would it be the first recommendation for steak in Indy? No. Try Morton's as the best or Ruth's Chris."
    Dined on 1/31/2014
  • "We went here during the devour downtown. We both ordered the same thing, which I saw a lot of people had gotten, the 6 oz filet on the devour menu. It took over an hour to get our main dish. We understand they want us to sit there and enjoy the experience, but on a weeknight it should not take that long to get the main course, and it wasn't super packed,"
