Diner Reviews
  • "Food was good from the appetizers to the entres. Service was good. Wine list is nice. It was a business dinner. Not very crowded, so easy to carry on a conversation."

  • "The steaks are cooked to perfection. I liked the Blackened sea scallops for appetizer. For Salad you cannot go wrong with the Wedge. For veggies we have the marinated mushrooms - great hickory flavor and the twice stuffed potato. You can't go wrong with either."

  • "business lunch - most of us had salads, which is good to have if you do not want a big steak for lunch I had a shrimp salad, which was large and filling Service was fine - nothing special Solid place to eat and meet"

  • "Business meeting at breakfast Buffet is super fast and has an extensive array of fresh foods and fruit They also do fresh eggs/omelets, but I did not have that on this visit"

  • "We had show tickets at Hobby Center --- this was a perfect place to dine beforehand. The food and the service were both wonderful. They made sure we had everything we needed promptly, and the hostess even came over to make sure we were on schedule. The Hyatt shuttle even took us to the venue!! We will definitely return!!"

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary. Service anf food were fantastic. I've already recommended Shula's to two of our friends. We'll definitely be back again. Thank you so much for a great dining experience."

  • "How this restaurant can bill itself as a steakhouse is beyond me. One would expect at a premium steakhouse that the server might focus on serving the steak properly. I ordered a $44 filet medium rare. When it was served it was set down in front of me and during the entire meal the server never came back to inquire if it was cooked properly or how the meal was going. The next time we saw her was with the check. Instead of being medium rare, the steak was on the done side of medium and as dry due to overcooking. My colleagues ordered non-beef items and were pleased with their selections - perhaps they should change their marketing to great seafood."

  • "Food choices were good. Both the fish and steak dinners were enjoyed. Quiet so conversations were easily heard. Restaurant was uncomfortably cold."

  • "All was great but the room temperature was a bit cool for the female guest."

  • "This steak house consistently has some wonderful veggie soups time and again, from vegetable lentil, to mushroom to what I had this time which was tomato bisque. The soup along with the starter size salad are wonderful for a light vegetarian lunch."

  • "The service was awful and the food was thrown together and burned."

  • "I made a reservation for 5 online 1 half hour before we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes and were seated. the team took care of our group and help to make some sections with recommendations for food and beverages. The team was attentive of our needs and we we're very pleased!"

  • "Went with a group and all enjoyed their steaks. It's good food but can find good food for less money."

  • "Overall nice food, excellent service. Food was right temp, fresh, consistently good amongst all four of us, from appetizer through dessert. The downside is this is in the Hyatt, and as such there is valet parking. It took 30 minutes to retrieve our car, and we almost missed our Hobby Center engagement"

  • "This is one of my favorite spots for business lunches downtown. There is a wide selection for everyone from the menu, and everything I have tried has been delicious."

  • "My husband and I love a good steak, and we loved that Shula's had 2 different porterhouse steaks to share on the menu! It was cooked perfectly and delicious. The roasted corn side was incredible, as was the mozzarella-caprese salad. I must say that the sourdough bread they brought beforehand was probably the best I've ever had--hot, fresh and incredible (I ate way too much ofit)!! We really enjoyed the evening and the meal--the only thing that would have made it better would have been to move Shula's to the top of the Hyatt Regency Hotel instead of off the lobby--then you'd also get an incredible view of the city while dining!"

  • "We visited the day after Valentine's Day(to avoid the rush/crowds), and enjoyed both an excellent meal and service. Both my filers, and my husband's rib eye steaks were cooked perfectly; and the meal overall was wonderful. Will definitely return!."

  • "I made reservations for 8:30, and earlier in the day i received a confirmation call and i confirmed my time at 8:30 well as it would happen we were late , (not her fault this time) so i called the restaurant to inform them i would be late of course it was very busy and the maitre d' explained i may have a little wait as it was Valentines day and they were pretty busy.. We arrived 35 minutes late and to my suprise we were promptly seated without ant waiting. with all the new and upscale restaurants that are in the area and i have dined at them all, the entire staff was by far the best i have seen in a very long time, very courteous, not overbearing and they displayed a super team spirit ."

  • "The Food was great but the hotel atmosphere was the downside. The hotel noise kept remiding you that you were in a hotel eating."

  • "I started with an onion soup and my fiancé had the lobster bisque. Both were outstanding! For the main course I hada filet mignon cooked to perfection and garlic mashed potatoes. My fiancé had the grilled chicken with green beans. Both meal were flavorful and went down so easy! The cost of the meal was reasonable compared with other notable steak houses. The food was exceptional and ranks with the top notable steak houses. The ambiance was good and the whole dinner was a good value. The waiter was pleasant and we shared a few laughs. We will do it again."

  • "The dishes which we had exceeded our expectations. Our main server was so knowledgeable about wines, it was both a great dinning and wine discussion experience. He enjoyed what he did and wanted to make sure that we had an excellent dinning experience. For dinner we had filet steak with lobster shrimps, done to our individual requests. I had lobster bisque and my wife had salad -- both were excellent. By the time the dessert came around (chocolate brownie with raspberry topping) we were so full, but had to try the dessert! The wine we had was Two Hands and the server introduced us to another excellent wine, Paraduxx which was so good we went and bought few bottles the following day. An excellent restaurant and great service."

  • "I attend Don Shula's for a romantic birthday dinner and it was awesome. My steak was great and the crab mac and cheese was wonderful. I look forward to attending again."

  • "I had the filet for lunch-- it was very well cooked and delicious, as well as the side salad. However, the restaurant is sort of in the side of the lobby, and there was construction going on with the escalators during our lunch discussions, which was kind of awkward during lunch with a client. We also had to ask our waiter several times that we were ready to order, and that we needed our bill. Food was good-- just would not recommend it as a steakhouse, definitely can find a better experience and same level of food for that price"

  • "This was my second business lunch I have had at Shula's, it to loud and I will not use it again. I had 6 men and we had to yell at each other to be heard. It a perfect place for me to meet with customers, but it to LOUD."

  • "Wife and I went for her birthday and it was a great meal. She loves steak and the 8 oz Filet Mignon did not disappoint. Matched well with the red wine too! The sourdough bread was so good we had to order an extra loaf to take home to our "carbivore". Service was also excellent; very friendly and attentive when needed."

  • "I have been going here for several years, but both the food and the service seems to have slipped a little. The staff used to be quite personable, thought that seems to stop at the front desk now. Wait staff is either non existent or hovering to the point of just irrritating. Is there ANY training done with these staff members? The steak I ordered (filet) was good, but far under seasoned. It was a mediocre visit - enough for me to take a look around before deciding on a DT lunch spot."

  • "Had the 12oz filet @ $44; for the price of the steak...no real flavor and mashed potatoes were luke warm."

  • "The Bon-in ribeye was delicious, as was the Caesars salad with white anchovies. Service was excellent."

  • "Food very overpriced. Shulas special steaks at $46.00 fall below Applebee's or Outback. I went to Shulas in Miami 15 years ago and it was excellent. Took family out for Christmas 2013 and was sorely disappointed. The Onion Soup was excellent, the Caesar salad was in small bowl consisting of chopped cucumber chopped lettuce and shredded carrots pretty poor presentation. Would never go back."

  • "My wife and I went there on Christmas Eve. My wife loved the lobster bisque and was wild about the Caesars Salad. Fresh bread was great. We ordered the 48 oz Porterhouse and it was delicious!! We shared the Porterhouse and still couldn't eat it all. Very nice experience."

  • "Convenient for a business lunch. Limited menu, pricey."
    Dined on 12/18/2013
  • "The valet parking was close, convenient, and free. The Caesar salad was good, although the tasty croutons were a bit large for my taste. The steaks were, as usual, awesomely delicious - tender, juicy, and flavorful. The asparagus, crab mac-n-cheese, and roasted corn sides were all delicious. But the poor service took all the joy of the food away. I've eaten at Shula's many times and in several different cities, so I know the service I experienced was an aberration."

  • "It was a slow night for a Saturday, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. This was my first time here and I was very impressed with the food and the service. Our server, Joseph, was a true professional. Despite helping with a large private party, he attended to our table without fail. He also recommended some wine pairings that were excellent. I had the 12oz filet with the peppercorn cognac sauce (highly recommended) and my friend had the scallops which she said were very tasty. We both had the lobster bisque to start with and while it wasn't the best I've tasted, it was still very good. Joseph made the evening very pleasant and all the other staff members were also very attentive. The manager stopped by twice to check on us. Great!"

  • "We were encouraged to eat at bar although reserved for main dining. Could not figure out why we were steered. Had to ask for bread when dinner arrived. Very cold atmosphere. Employees interested in each other. Would not go back"

  • "I celebrated myself for getting my new job at Shula's Steakhouse. The service was great and the steaks were super. I love the steak presentation that the waiter give you before placing your order. Would do again."

  • "First time I had been placed outside in the hotel area...it was drafty and cold considering the weather. I ordered a salad that I hadn't ordered before and learned that I should stick with what Shula's does best. Expensive for everyday, but nice for special occation if you specify that you want to set in the main restaurant."

  • "I went here for a business lunch and I was very pleased with the food and especially the ability to talk and have a conversation where it was not too loud. It was an overall great experience."

  • "Shula's steaks were, without exception, the BEST steaks we have EVER eaten! Shula's was highly recommended to us by our kids who said we would never find a steak to compare. We assumed they were exaggerating, but how wrong we were! We are now telling all our friends the very same thing our kids told us. You will never find a steak to compare to the beef at Shula's!"
