Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to a few Shula's in different cities, but the location of this one put it a step above the others. You can't beat the view. The food is amazing at all locations. The beach and ocean view made it a perfect date night for my wife and me. "

  • "Absolutely the best steak we've ever had! Well worth the money! Excellent service!"

  • "This was our first time at Shula's On The Beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I wanted to go because I heard the food was AMAZING. My husband wanted to go because he's a huge football fanatic. We sat outside so we could see the ocean so the noise from the traffic (car radio's and exhaust sounds) were a bit loud at times but overall not enough to make us want to not go back. The Shula's house salad is the BEST. I could have eaten that with my glass of wine and bread and been a happy girl. I'm glad I didn't though because the Lamb was very tasty. Each entrée does not come with a side but the sides are large and can be shared. Finish your meal off with the Cheesecake - TRUST ME - it's the BEST cheesecake I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot!"

  • "The food is exceptional. Service is always great and the view speaks for itself. The Wine Sommelier app is great, always makes picking a wine to compliment the meal a breeze."

  • "Every time I eat at Shula's I get a great meal. This place definitely isn't cheap but if you can manage to use a coupon or know that you are going to spend some money, you will not regret it."

  • "We ate on the patio of this nice restaurant earlier in the season and had a lovely dinner looking out over the ocean. This time we took a friend who was visiting and again sat outside on the patio. Food was good, service was good, but the lighting was horrible. Asked the manager about the poor lighting conditions. He said it was all because of the sea turtles. Apparently the turtle lovers are so influential in Ft. Lauderdale that they control the street lighting and even the lighting in the outdoor restaurants along the beach! Plus, on the walk home the beach sidewalk was so dark it was scary to walk along the beach. So, if you are a turtle along the beach you are protected and happy. If you are a visitor, good luck!"

  • "Been to several Shulas many times. The service at this location is lacking in every aspect."

  • "Slow service, 50 dollar steak that didn't meet expectations, asparagus was burnt and chewy. Have had much better meals for half the price!"

  • "Shula's On The Beach exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding, as was the service. I ordered the lobster bisque and the prime rib (I couldn't decide between the steak and the scallops). The bisque was delicious and the steak was fit for a family of 4. I ate about 1/3 of it. The quality was outstanding. It melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the caesar salad and the prime rib also and the chocolate cake. He enjoyed it as much as I did. His salad was huge and his prime rib was also mouth watering. The chocolate cake was scrumptious. Brin, our wait-person was so very personable and fabulous, The GM came over to ask for our feedback, he was lovely. It was really delightful experience and WONDERFUL dining experience."

  • "Food and service were very average, yet the bill was $350 for 4 people with no alcohol! Poor value for the money. We will not return"

  • "The Steak cost $43 and was nothing but pure fat. We heard good things about this place which is why we chose to dine here but the food is subpar and totally not worth the price. The ambience is very nice and the service was good but the food isn't at all."

  • "The indoor decor was quite attractive and well appointed, while the outdoor patio was below the quality you would expect for the main strip of Fort Lauderdale. We dined outside, noise level was moderate and tolerable being 15 feet from traffic. A major improvement is from the City of Fort Lauderdale, who changed out the street lights to sea turtle friendly lighting, eliminating the large glowing orbs shining in your face. You can now see the ocean and enjoy the view at night. Big improvement. The apps, steak and sides were excellent. All the food was correct and prepared as ordered. Very high quality steak (we both had surf and turf). Service was acceptable, correct, and timely for a relaxed romantic dinner. $$$$ but I woud recommend."

  • "Sat at a beachside table , enjoyed a perfectly cooked grouper.nice wine list, and an overall great experience, complimentary valet parking in an area where there is no parking is also a great feature"

  • "Overdone steak, overcooked and low quality scallops result in a real disappointment. We have dined at other Shula's restaurants and have enjoyed a high quality meal. This location is definitely one we will avoid in the future. For the prices this chain demands, this kind of dining experience is unacceptable."

  • "This was our first visit to Shula's on the Beach (Sunday night) We ordered: - A bottle of wine ($55.00) was out of stock. The restaurant substituted with a higher priced wine ($72) for the same price. Nice! - Blacked Sea Scallop appetizer ($14) had only 2 scallops; however, it was delicious. - 8 oz filets ($41) cooked to our order (rare) with no fat. - Crab mac and cheese side ($14) was ample for 2. - Key lime pie and creme brulee were delicious (each $10). Total Bill: $230 not including tip Cons: - Waters were never refilled. - Wine was only poured once--we had to pour the rest. - Valet person never opened my door. Dinner was delicious. Note: We expect a higher level of service for the price point."

  • "Pricey, but great location, food was excellent, needed reminders to refill water (but probably because we were drinking "tap" and not bottled water.). Everything a la cart on menu."

  • "Probably a little louder outside than usual due to spring break but we still had a great evening. Service was attentive and steaks done perfectly. Caprese salad was delicious. Caesar nothing special but large portion. We had a birthday so were able to enjoy the chocolate lava cake which was awesome. Ambience inside was dark and quieter. I would consider that next time."

  • "Being the high end foodie I am I have to say finding superior dining establishments that can compete with the likes of those found in CA, NY, AZ can sometimes be challenging in FL. Shula's did not disappoint except for the French Onion soup which looked amazing but tasted horrible. Other than that all the other food and courses were amazing. We had two toddlers and a 7yr old with four adults dining and the staff did a good+ job anticipating our need. Sometimes a tough commodity during Snowbird Season in So FL. Spacious seating with no crampiness to it. Elegantly designed with nostalgic Shula/Sports memorabilia blended with upscale coastal steakhouse flair. I will return when I visit my sister again."

  • "I dined there on two separate occasions. each time the service was very very professional and very nice. I always felt that I was appreciated and that the service at the bar expecially but the bartender named Terry was excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends. the steak was excellent the onion soup superb!"

  • "Our party of four enjoyed a pleasant evening of great food , service and conversation. Portions were generous, our waiter was attentive and the ambiance was such that we were able to easily converse and enjoy our meal. The NY strip and cowboy rib eye were excellent and perfectly seasoned as were the lamb chops. We particularly enjoyed the hash brown potato side and the lettuce wedge and lobster bisque soup appetizers. The bread was delicious...warm with crispy crust. My only criticism would be that an establishment such as this should have more creative and tempting dessert choices."

  • "Overall experience was fine with exception of trying to order a nice bottle of wine. They had a wonderful system for ordering via tablet and identifying certain vintages that rated exceptionally well. The problem was the list was terribly outdated. I tried to order THREE different, highly rated vintage bottles and NONE of them were available. Come on. They need to find a better way to keep their list updated or it really ruins the whole experience. OR simply remove any reference to ratings & recommendations based on vintage if they are not going to keep vintage information updated."

  • "Normally we goto Shulas once a trip for a good steak in a relaxed atmosphere. This evening at Shulas was crowded the service suffered and it wasn't up to par overall I still recommend this location but not on a Saturday evening"

  • "Food was very good. A bit cold in the restaurant and several complained but were told they were on a central system with the Westin and couldn't change. Server was pretty poor. Seemed she wasn't adequately trained as she was consistently just waiting for orders at the bar and wasting steps."

  • "Reservation made and we were seated on-time. However, the blonde hostess ignored me and acknowledged another guest that arrived AFTER I was standing at the hostess stand. Simply put that was rude. The server was great but obviously given way too many tables for outstanding service. Although the food was excellent, it was unacceptable for the restaurant to not plan for Valentines night. As a visitor to the city, this was my second dining experience at this location. The first experience was outstanding which made me want to repeat this visit with others. Not sure if there will be a third time."

  • "We (with my husband) used to dine out with frequency. This was our first time at this restaurant and we loved it all !! It is a very nice place located right across the beach. Food was simply delicious and the service (Conroy was our server) was simply excellent. For sure we are coming back =)"
