The food is very good and the service is spot on. The red wine should be served at a cooler temperature (62 degrees, not 75 degrees+) but overall not a major defect. Sit away from the bar area, especially on a weekend night, as it will get noisy, try and get a table next to the windows. Also, the salads are huge and you can easily share them, do not fill up on them as the steaks are also large and you will want to eat every bite.You can bring a date or a spouse to this place and be quite satisfied. They have even made me feel welcome when dining alone, something a lot of places will not do as readily. We did have an issue trying to use a birthday certificate the restaurant sent us. Our bill came out higher than expected and neither the server nor the manager could explain the problem. They blamed it on the computer. It turns out the tax and gratuity were calculated based on our original bill, then the birthday certificate was applied. It was very frustrating to be celebrating a special occasion, then having to ruin the evening by having a lengthy discussion that the bill was wrong.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Super Bowl Dining ExperienceSchula's was a very nice dinning experience. Service is always key, backed up with outstanding food. An ala cart menu which makes for putting together your meal in way one would enjoy. We've been to a couple of Schula's, they have all met or exceeded our expectations. Great Steaks! We have been there several times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it. This time was the best! Our waitress, Petrone, was friendly, helpful on our food choices, and appeared only when we needed her, so we had a quiet, romantic dinner with terrific steak and a nice bottle of wine. I am the Mother and the choice was mine...Shula's was at the top of my list. You never disappoint. We had a great table, the menu choices were wonderful. Our dinner was delicious. We laughed and joked and watched a cruise ship sail into the night. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his conversation every time he came to our table. Excellent wedge salad. They need to complete the rennovations of the patio. Dining outside here is a real treat, and to have that out of commission takes the whole place down a notch. Also, one family brought in their screaming toddler, which really put a damper on what could have been a romantic ambience. Not entirely the restaurant's fault, but this can be resolved by enforcing a dress code. (Do they make formal jackets for toddlers?) If your looking for a traditional steakhouse Shula's is the place for you. The make a great martini, great sourdough bread, and a great steak. Our steaks were cooked to the perfect temperature...medium/rear. Sides and appetizers are very traditional offerings...not for foodies. We passed on the appetizers and spit a wedge salad. For sides we had mushrooms and lobster mashed potatoes. I'm glad I tried the potatoes. Something you have to try at least once, but would not order again. I'd rather eat more of the steak. Our waiter was nice, but took him a while to warm up to us. Food was delicious. I had the new york strip and it was cooked perfectly. Overall, a very nice dinner.
