We had been here before and it was lovely yet this time around it was a real disappointment. The restaurant was not full yet our server was not attentive even if he was nice. I had to send my steak back because not only was it not grilled correctly it looked more like a piece of flatbread- for the steep price absolutely inexcusable! Even after sending the steak back, our server did not inquire how our food was or whether we were satisfied. Very disappointed!

We regularly dine at high end steakhouses, and found this one disappointing. It has a great location along fort Lauderdale beach, but even the view could not distract us from our cold food, overcooked steaks, and unimpressive sides. When we originally arrived we were turned away because we did not have a reservation, despite the fact that there were several empty tables that remained empty. We went in the hall and made a reservation, and came back to be welcomed at the podium, and directed to the bar to wait another 35 minutes. That should have been our clue of what was in store. 210 dollars (2 of us and only one cocktaill no dessert) later, we were sorry we stayed.

Shula's on the Beach lives up to it's name if you request the outdoor seating, very nice beach & boardwalk views. The steaks, especially the filet with Béarnaise, were outstanding as always. The prime rib special was a little dry and not as tender so I would recommend sticking to the steaks. We tried the blue cheese crust on one of our steaks and it was quite tasty. Our server Eric was outstanding, friendly, attentive & knowledgeable. All in all another great night at Shula's!

I chose Shula's for it's reputation. I wanted to surprise my fiance with a wonderful steak dinner for his birthday. We had 7:30 reservations and arrived 10 minutes early. Greeted warmly by house staff, but told that our table would not be ready for ten minutes. We had requested an outside table. At precisely 7:30 we were escorted out to a beautiful 2 top right on A1A. Perfect!!! But that is where our positive experience ended. Our server Mario must have been busy with other tables inside because we rarely saw him and when we did he seemed very rushed. We ordered Calamari french fries as an appetizer. The presentation was beautiful, but the calamari was not crispy as we had expected. Also not served hot. We ordered the Prime Rib and 14 oz. rib eye with a twice backed potato and sauteed mushrooms. Mario came and told me that they were already sold out of the Prime Rib. It was only 8 o'clock!!! Better anticipation is needed. Mario suggested the cowboy cut of the Ribeye their evening special, same as the other Ribeye we ordered, but with a bone in. Told it was more flavorful. Upon arrival of our entrees, we both received the same 14 0z Ribeye, not the cowboy cut special and the twice backed potato looked like it had been sitting there for awhile. Mario was no where in sight. My steak was overly marbled with fat and gristle, so I ended taking it home to my dog. For what I paid for this special night, I was greatly disappointed. Won't come back and definitely would not recommend it to anyone.

What a wonderful, classy place to enjoy a great dinner. We visited a lot of restaurants along Fort Lauderdale Beach, and there are plenty of clipjoints and mediocre places that do not provide value for your dining dollar. This is not one of them. Quality service and truly outstanding quisine. You cannot go wrong. We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary evening here. John prvoided great service and the manager treated us to dessert. Loved that the sides are meant to be split. Generous helpings and the best steak I've eaten in many years.

We made a reservation at this very expensive restaurant in our hotel because we were arriving on a Saturday evening and knew we would have trouble getting dinner anywhere in the vicinity as walk-ins. On arrival at 8:30, we were told that, despite having a reservation, it would be about half an hour before our table was ready. We unpacked, then returned. We still had to wait for a table. The hotel was full of football fans, but I believe this happens on a regular basis (the hotel also hosts conventions, so crowds must be a normal thing). It appears they seated a bunch of walk-ins and failed to hold tables for those with reservations. They apologized but did nothing to make it up to us. When our food finally arrived, some of it was cold.

First time trying Shula's, thanks to Dine Out Lauderdale. Patio view was perfect, service great, onion soup EXCELLENT! Steak? Sadly, I ordered medium rare but it was served more-than-well-done...over cooked to the point of being dry and tough. First time....probably last time.

Love coming here. It was a beautiful cool evening with a view of the beach. Our server was great, we have had him before, David. We ordered from the Dine out menu. The French Onion soup was very good. My wife had the salmon medium rare which was actually prepared the way she ordered it. Plus David asked her to cut it to make sure it was medium rare. My chicken was also very good. The Key Lime pie is excellent, not too tart. In the past we have had the filet which was excellent. Will come back.

The food matched our expectation of great taste and preparation which we have come to expect from Shula's Fort Lauderdale. And the bartneder - master of mixology!

The crab cakes were very good, the lobster bisque was not hot, luke warm. My steak was was warm but my wifes entire plate was cold. The yorkshire pudding was like it was served from the fridge. Her prime rib was cold. Same for the baked potato. Even after returning her meal, the only thing that was hot was the baked potato!

Our food was spectacular. Our assistant waiter, Jay was absolutely the service savior. He was phenomenal and saved this visit in regard to service. Brin the lead server was over her head and it was not that busy. Not to mention she was rude to Jay! He saved her and the evening for me and my son who were visiting for the Dolphins home opener.

We booked an ocean view & table at Shula's for our 33rd Anniversary. We were greeted at dinner with 'happy anniversary' and a glass of sparkling wine & strawberry...so far so good. We both ordered 12oz prime rib medium rare with Yorkshire pudding. (being from England we considered this a piece of home). We also ordered 3 sides, fries, asparagus and mushrooms. The food was served, the streak looked amazing, a great cut but overcooked, grey throughout and tough. The Yorkshire pudding tasted like a cinnamon roll, asparagus was burnt and everything tasted of sugar and cinnamon. When the maître d came over and asked, we told him. He did take the cost of steak off the bill but to be honest, that does not make it right, it ruined our evening.

I have been using Open Table for five years and confess that I have never written a review, but thanks to the reviews of others I have always had an enjoyable dining experience, until now. The hostess was slow to seat us in spite of reservation and the waiter was attentive, but distracted. Specifically he brought the wrong bottle of wine and then when he brought the correct bottle, he poured it into the water glass, which he had previously filled with water. Food quality was mediocre and somewhat bland. This will be my one and only visit to this restaurant.

Wonderful experience . Only disappointment, our waiter tried to sell us a wine we had not ordered. We requested a 2010 RR. He brought us a 2012 (lower quality ) at the same expensive price And assuming we did not know much about wine, told us it was the same. Otherwise ,steaks perfect. Great view.

The service was some of the worst I've ever had. We were visiting Fort Lauderdale from out of town and went to Shula's with a group of 4 for a nice dinner, expecting to pay for good food and service. The food was delicious, steaks came out perfect temperature and everything seasoned well. Our server on the other hand was non existent most of the night and when she was at our table her attitude was rude and demanding. Dirty plates would sit for 20+ minutes before being taken away. After we finished our meal the bill didn't come for 32 minutes!! I always leave 20%-30% tips but it was appalling that a restaurant of this level had this terrible of service.

We arrived around 10am for brunch. The restaurant had a choice of buffet or ordering ala carte from the menu. We opted for the menu. It took 20 minutes before the server took our order even though the restaurant was fairly empty and most everyone in restaurant were opting fir Buffett. The food came about 30 minutes later. The eggs Benedict and omelet were way overlooked. Getting the check took another 20 minutes . Would definitely not recommend this restaurant. Even though we had $30 to spend each morning for breakfast because of hotel status we opted to not return since the experience was so bad.

We've been here about 4 times before and the service is consistently poor.. We only come back because the food is always excellent. But we won't go back anymore. The restaurant was extremely slow - only 2 other tables occupied inside and about 8 outside. There were at least 3 wait staff. We asked for ice water with lemon & when the food server brought it without lemon we asked for them. He replied it wasn't his responsibility & we have to ask our waiter, which we did a 2nd time. After our 1st course was served, we had to wave our arms to "flag down" our waiter as he was busy socializing with the attractive hostess and would never look in the direction of our table. After the 3rd request, he brought us our lemons. Not going back ever!

My family and I went to Shula's on the beach and were immediately impressed at the ambiance. It really is a beautiful location; I wish I was as impressed with the quality of dining. You have a certain expectation when you pay the prices of these meals, but the ends didn't justify the means. My wife ordered a steak that was over cooked and her lobster tail was rubber and tasteless. My steak was better, but still over cooked and if it hadn't been for the blue cheese crumbles I ordered, I don't think the meat would have been desirable either. The shinning light was my sister-in-law's scallops which were "divine". The service, however, was dull listless and the waiter didn't seem to know what was on the menu. I wish it was better.

If you want a nice, simple, well executed dining experience, Shulas is it. The food was done well and the service was pleasant and very professional. If there was only one thing I felt could be improved, I would say to maybe offer a couple different ccuts of steak that were "Prime" grade. Although my steak was prepared perfectly as I asked, it was a little tough and I could taste the "less than best" quality in the flavor of the meat. Black Angus is not what restaurants make it to be. It only a marketing ploy. Offer a great tasting Prime Grade steak and let your diners decide. The Key Lime Pie was as good as any I've ever had!! Overall, very nice dinner.

food and service was top-notch. second time at this restaurant, and 4th shula's visit overall. honestly, if the price was more reasonable, i'd go back more often, but it's my go-to restaurant for all special occasions

The ambiance was great. Nice beach view and fans for comfy outdoor dining. Crab mac and cheese is a must! Service was just ok and that goes for waiter and hostess. But that didn't ruin the evening.
