SHOR American Seafood Grill at Hyatt WaikikiSurprised by the food!We were caught without a dinner reservation for Mother's Day. SHOR American Seafood Grill was available and the reviews weren't too bad so we went. Parking's validated but hard to find as it's across the street on Uluniu. We were seated outside with a view but my Mom didn't like the wind so we moved inside near the entrance. Not real great as all the guests walked by as they went to their tables. Our waiter, Brandon was GREAT. Very attentive and patient with us. Portions weren't large but adequate but as expected in Waikiki, the prices were high. But we really enjoyed the food. Not Alan Wong or Le Bistro but pretty darn good. And they gave us a Kamaaina rate and they comp'd our dessert. And roses for the Mothers. From the warm crusty sour dough bread with the alea salt butter to the main entrees of rib eye steak and monchong, our selections were expertly prepared, well seasoned, and eye appealing. What made the experience over the top was the service we received from Michael, the manager and Michael, our server. They were personable, friendly, and did a fabulous job in making us feel valued and appeciated. The food and service were excellent. Enjoyed the Kona Abalone, Trio of Poke, Mesculin Salad, Watermelon and Tomato Salad and Fresh Opah. Abalone was seasoned with butter and garlic. Simply delicious. Trio of Poke was good but the Spicy Poke was a mush of mayonnaise. Loved the Watermelon and Tomato Salad as well as the Mesculin Salad with Crab and Avocado. My fresh fish of the day was Opah and it was cooked to perfection. Like the fact that your entree includes your choice of a side dish. We went for the Truffle Mac n' Cheese and were not disappointed.
