Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days. We highly recommend a reservation. Reservations are normally held for between 15 and 20 minutes of your requested reservation. Your party will be seated at the next available Hibachi Table once everyone in your party has arrived.

Large parties frequently get pushed back to a later time slot because 1 or 2 people have not arrived on time. We recommend that your designated party planner stress that everyone arrive on time so the whole group may be seated together. Parties who are partially arrived may have to wait for the next available reservation slot. Surprise parties rarely work in a Hibachi setting during our peak times. We do make an effort to get your surprise off without a hitch. Monday-Thursdays are much better days for surprise parties.

A word from Shiro of Japan - The Shops @ Atlas Park
For over 42 years, and now over 8 years in our Glendale Queens location, Shiro of Japan has the reputation for providing patrons with an exceptional and authentic Japanese dining experience at affordable prices.

Shiro of Japan was founded on the tradition of “true” Japanese hibachi steak house, a concept that introduced America to the cooking art form known as teppanyaki. In Japanese, teppan means an “iron plate” or a “steel sheet,” and yaki, “stir-fried food” or “stir-frying.” The teppanyaki and hibachi styles, come together to create a mouth-watering form of cuisine that continues to increase in popularity in the New York region and across the nation.

Note, when making an online reservation please specify Hibachi or our main dining room.

Food is just made with salt & chefs not well trained to improvise sushi is the way to go if you choose them but I prefer private owned hibachi places by authentic Japanese chefs

Hibachi is an interactive dining experience when it is done right, and Shiro of Japan does it right! The hibachi chefs are always entertaining. From the soup to the salad, then the fun begins with the table show at just the right pace. Always a treat.

I frequent this restaurant. The staff was pleasant and curteous as always. My chef was not as personable as some of the chefs I have had in the past but he was still nice. The food was a bit salty (which usually is never an issue). Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we were seated with a fun group which made the experience pleasurable. I will still be patronizing this establishment.

Excellent is an understatement! We had family visiting from out of town, Europe. They were amazed at just about everything in the restaurant. They noticed that food was fresh before it was cooked, the correct about amount of seasoning was on everything they ate. The cook was kind, friendly and had a great sense of humor as was the waitress who was aware of our need for drinks and refills. The large group that we came with was handled with style. We all left the restaurant FULL and satisfied! Thank You for helping me show my family how great NYC can be within the County of Queens!

the food and the service was amazing but the prices were a bit high. They charge you $10 for their service of bringing a birthday cake for you and I think that should be left for us to tip them for. I had to buy the cake myself somewhere else because they didn't sell full cakes.

Shiro was just okay. First, they sent me a text asking me to go to the front desk to be seated 3 hours before my actual reservation. I had to make another reservation for a later time through Open Table...and they did not check me in through it. Our chef was funny and witty (he was the best part of the experience). The food was just blah. The drinks were just blah. The restaurant was nearly empty, that I could not believe it. My family and I will probably will not be going back.

Recommended by friend. Hibachi chef is an apprentice and the food he cook is very salty and the noodle taste awful like soy sauce. Steak is tasteless. Fried rice is below average.. Order an order of Dragon roll - not up to standard yet. Good atmosphere and the staffs are very polite and friendly.

Although the food was good, we waited a long time for the table, a long time for service and a long time for the check. Restaurant seemed to be overtaxed. Recommend only going when you have a leisurely time. It made it particularly hard for a hungry child and more stressful than it should have been.

The food at the hibachi was fine however there absolutely needs to be a policy in place for there fixed price hibachi dinner when a customer has a food allergy. One in my party has an allergy to shellfish therefore couldn't eat the shrimp appetizer. The manager could offer no solution other than "don't eat it" or "give your shrimp to someone else at the table". That made no sense and ruined our experience.
