Also, we felt slightly rushed, and was wondering if that was due to the menu choice? Our wait staff were very attentive, but a bit rushed."

  • "A big fan of the sister restaurant, Shipwreck, in Brielle, we hesitated for while to cross the bridge and try this one out. valet parked, walked in, and were seated at table in the middle of the room closest to the door. (the restaurant was empty). moved over one table . Service was attentive, food was very good, except waiter neglected to inform us that they prepare their scallops rare (raw in the middle).Scallops went back since other than in the context of sushi, we feel scallops should be cooked through. ODD THINGS: Dress code not enforced. We were dressed up, but every other guest was in sweat pants, jeans, flannel shirts...on a Saturday evening! just didn't feel real special and in keeping with the ambiance."

Our server was Caitlin and she was attentive and sweet...and Joe the server assistant even suggested a delicious beer to compliment my dinner. The food was delicious, creative and priced well. I would say this is a very high end night out without feeling like its a stuffy, snobby environment."

  • "The only thing that keeps this from getting all five stars is the noise level. Low ceilings & an open floor plan make it quite noisy & the restaurant was not full when we dined there. Great water view. Nice fireplace. Comfortable on a cold night. Staff was young, but friendly & attentive. We shared a radicchio & arugula salad-plenty for two. It was terrific. I had the lamb ravioli special & my husband had the flounder special. Both were very well prepared & artfully presented. Each was accompanied by a vegetable. We skipped the al a carte potatoes & enjoyed the huge popover served in place of plain old bread. It was a real treat. Wine by the glass is limited & pricey. I went with one of their seasonal martini's. I was not disappointed"

My lobster was unevenly cooked... raw and tough at the same time..after being sent back for being all undercooked. staff quick to remove the entrée but did Not ask if I wanted a different entrée. I decided to just be quiet about it. The hostess was informed as we left and thanked me for the feedback. Very expensive restaurant. Very ambitious menu.N.B every other food item WAS. Very Good."

  • "My husband and I went to the Shipwreck Point for the first time and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious. They give each person a homemade popover (basically like a giant cream puff without the cream) and their special butter of the day. We had the cranberry butter, which was very good. I started with Shrimp Cocktail - largest shrimp I have ever seen. They were crispy and cold and the cocktail sauce was great - they even gave you fresh grated horseradish to add more yourself. Hubby had the oysters, which he enjoyed. The salads were delicious - I had the arugala with raspberry viniagrette and he had the wedge. I had the 8oz. Filet Mignon and he had the Cowboy Dry-Aged steak, which we both enjoyed. Highly recommend!"

  • "Went to Shipwreck Point for the first time Tuesday evening and it was excellent. You have a hard time getting into this restaurant during summer season but since it is the winter my husband and I decided to give it a try. We both had steak and it was very tasty and tender. The other couple we went with had the scallops and they were amazing. The sauce was a bit tangy but was soo tasty it gave the dish an overwhelming flavor. Will definitely get that dish when we go back. Excellent service and wine list. Small dining room so when it is crowed it may get loud. There were only 3 other tables occupied when we arrived so the noise level was very quiet. Excellent choice."

  • "The food was delicious (despite my husband's filet mignon being undercooked after two tries!), the staff was extremely friendly and the environment was perfect for my parents 46th wedding anniversary! It got a little noisy as the night went on and it got more crowded, but we had a nice corner table which buffered us from some of that. Would recommend for any special occasion."

  • "Nice atmosphere with attentive staff. The bread is very different like a turnover, but tasty. The salads are generous and fresh dressings add to the enjoyment. Partner had the New York Strip which was very thick for the cut but enjoyed. A La Cart double baked potato ordered as side was not outstanding. Other diner ordered the 2# lobster instead of the 19.99 lobster special because there would be cleaned lobster meat. Meal came with asparagus and piled high with shoestring french fries, this ruiend the whole experience of ordering the 45.00 lobster dish ( which there was very little lobster and the sauce . On the water,. They do have a very nice bar which We may return and sit at bar to sample smallers selections."

Food timing was a bit rushed, and if the dinning room is full good luck hearing your own conversation. Don't let that stop you it is still overall worthwhile."

  • "We've been to Shipwreck Point about 5 or 6 times, but this was the first after they reopened following Sandy. It's as good or better than ever, and overall I think its hard to find a better high end dining experience in Ocean County. The main courses were all especially good, particularly the Brontosaurus sized veal chop special, which may have been the best I ever had (and we're talking about a lot of veal chops here), appetizers less so (slightly overcooked fois gras, fried oysters that were too breaded). Excellent wine list, and nice specialty cocktails. Its pricey, but its worth it. Main drawback is supersonic noise level when it gets humming at prime time."

  • "This was our second visit. Our first time was a dinner prior to Sandy. Happy to be back celebrating our 1st Anniversary. It was Jersey Shore Restaurant Week so we got a great dinner for $30.13 which was nice. The portions were smaller than on the regular menu (understandable) but everything was wonderful. Two words... pop overs!! Yum. Our server (pretty young red head) was pleasant & professional as was the rest of the staff. Rebuilt after the storm it's romantic & quaint. Unfortunately, south side of the restaurant has bench seat with tables & the accompanying chairs face the wall. I sat there & had a view of a blank wall. It would be nice to have the tables face another way so the diners could see the restaurant and inlet view."

The food ranks with some of the better restaurants in NY, with the added bonus of price point and convenience."
