  • "We enjoy this restaurant and thought our finicky friends would too. Food was outstanding. The server was nice put may have been new at the job...no salt....no forks.....little things like that. We had to ask for a lot that should have been there....milk for coffee. Thought since Sunday, there was valet parking (my fault) and it was a hassle and expensive. Meter did not want to take extra time.....bad location without valet. Would definitely go back but not on any weekend day. They are very nice and the food is excellent...definitely try it."

  • "I just cannot understand why this place has positive reviews. The service was poor at best. No bread until we asked for it. The portions are minuscule while the prices are high. The noise level was deafening. Don't plan on having a conversation. The food wasn't bad but the overall experience was awful so it didn't really matter."

  • "It took for ever for waitress to come over. We didn't even have menus so we were just sitting there for 20 minutes. My steak was tough and not the way filet mignon should be. Had to ask multiple times for another drink and at least a piece of bread which looks huge but is a half empty shell. Food not worth the $200 bill for 2 people and only 2 drinks and $6.00 diet coke. Also beyond bad service and so so food it is way to loud. Which noise I could over look if service and food were good but they weren't. We'll be sticking with Poached Pear Bistro!"

  • "Romantic! What a delicious dirty martini I had and my boyfriend had a Yards beer. Filet mignon med rare was one of the best steaks i've ever had. the scallop dish was cooked perfectly. would have loved to have dessert but was just way too full!!! a very amazing and memorable dinner. requested a table by the window for water view in the open table reservation and was seated just as requested. cannot wait to go back for a birthday celebration!"

  • "We chose this restaurant because we heard the steaks were so good. We ordered 4 steaks and all were undercooked. My husband was full of fat and gristle. When a customer orders a steak med or med rare your chef should know how to prepare those steaks. Very disappointed!"

  • "After looking forward for weeks to dinner at Shipwreck Point, it was a big let down. The fire in the kitchen and subsequent alarms didn't help but that would have been fine if everything else was up to par. We felt like the lost table in the middle of the restaurant while we watched people get served who came in long after we arrived. The filet part of the porterhouse as well as spinach was not edible. The lobster on the surf and turf was overcooked and chewy. The sauces (that you have to pay extra for) were watery and tasteless. The upside? Filet and Strip were perfectly prepared and delicious. We've never experienced this at SWP, hopefully just an off night."

  • "I chose this restaurant because it was close to the water & heard great things about the food. I had read reviews about the noise level but didn't take it seriously. The Noise is TERRIBLE. You can barely hear each other and if your waiter doesn't scream at you, you can't hear the specials. We had to ask the waiter to repeat himself a couple of times. The service was ok at best. Our waiter was unfortunately not as well-versed with the menu and I think he made some of it up. The food however made up the other problems. The popover & butter was a treat. Choose anything with a cream sauce, those are the better dishes. Dessert was said to be warm & actually cold & coffee was spoiled. They fixed the situation but still upsetting."

  • "Bartender ignored us because his friends were there. $60 special Tbone advertised as prime and 28 days dry aged was served gray, with bottled balsamic ribbons and hot but not grilled sliced supermarket tomatoes. And with baby arugula with no dressing and no seasoning, fresh from the bag. I know dry aged steak, and it wasn't. Maine oysters great, but why put a pile of raw julienned horseradish on the plate? Alacarte Brussels sprouts were mushy and not caramelized. Creamed spinach fresh but little cream and no seasoning. Young waiter was nice kid and seemed truly embarrassed by what he was serving. Great setting, lovely view of Squan Inlet, but way overpriced and lacking kitchen discipline. A shame."

  • "We had a recommendation from my cousin to go to this restaurant and honestly from the name of the restaurant I thought it would be a typical Pt Pleasant seafood joint. Upon arrival I was glad to see that they had valet parking especially because the area was quite crowded with all the restaurants being in close proximity to each other. Once we were seated we were greeted by our waiter Michael who made our dining experience a sheer delight. I forgot to mention that the restaurant was very nicely decorated like an upscale restaurant not like a typical shore restaurant. The food was fantastic and all in all we thoroughly enjoyed everything. This restarts is a very upscale fine dining experience."

  • "My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant after seeing the limited menu on Open Table but when we got there the specials and full menu were absolutely amazing. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great...seat by the window very romantic. I only recommend getting there early before the rush cause it does get a bit noisy...but the view from ore table was great right I the water..highly recommend the chocolate gonnach for dessert"

  • "Our group arrived at 6:30pm. The wine we chose was not available and the wait staff was unable to make any other recommendations due to lack of knowledge of the wine list (his own admission . We ordered a few appetizers and dinner. Everything arrived piecemeal and the dinners were not served until well after 9pm. The steaks were good, but the Caesar salad was tasteless and the ahi tuna (which was ordered "rare) was overcooked and seasoned like a steak ("Montreal Steak" seasoning). The chef had no knowledge of how to cook fresh tuna The noise level was beyond energetic. It was downright unbearable. We could not hear ourselves think....never mind have a conversation. We were all very disappointed. Sorry"

  • "We were excited to return to shipwreck Point because we had so many fond memories of our dinner in Oct. 2013. We received a window table, as requested. Th3e wine list is still very good and the hot popovers they serve are still great. So is the service. The food disappointed. To be fair, the manager listened to us and when we returned for a second visit, he comped the dessert. Maybe next time we will stick with the steaks and not try the other menu items. Note: the clams and Cape May salts (oysters) are great!"

  • "Place is not terrible but pricey and noisey... loud!!! "Acoustics are bad" service staff must yell and you must yell in return. Veal Chop delicious, many good salads, valet parking. Two $45.00 Tuna Special's to be RARE arrived fully cooked and even over cooked. Drinks very expensive including wine by the glass. Not sure if I will give it a second try. Please note, we are from the Manhattan area and dine out very often. Also, our service person offered to take the Tuna back and have the Chef cook two more but this is something that we choose not to do for fear of kitchen retaliation!!!!"

Beautiful view of the inlet between Point Pleasant and Manasqaun. Food was absolutely delicious and service was great! We would definitely return!"

  • "When my husband and I eat here, we sit at the bar. It is just easier for us to have a conversation. We went with friends we had not seen in several months and had a lot of catching up to do. We made a 7:15 reservation and requested a table "not in the center of the room" as I felt it would be too busy and noisy. Even where we sat, it was extremely noisy. Unfortunately the people at our table prior to our reservation did not get up (even though they had paid their check) until 7:45. While we waited the owner suggested we have a drink. When our check came the drinks were on it. We mentioned it to the waiter who spoke to the owner and they were removed. The food was great and the view was beautiful."

  • "This restaurant still does not know how to grill a steak. Ordered medium RARE. Came out medium. This happened 2 years ago and they still can't get it right. Potatoes came out lukewarm..had to get them sent back to be reheated. Clams excellent, lamb rack excellent and correctly medium rare. Steak was listed as 20 oz Rib eye. It looked like under 1 pound to me."
