Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing food and service. Attention to detail and delicious cuisine make for a wonderful dining experience"

  • "The food and service was top notch. If you are looking for a quiet dinner I would recommend going late - the noise level was very high."

  • "No other steakhouse down the NJ shore compares to the "Shipwreck Point". Everything is far above other Jersey shore restaurants. The cuts of steak are generous and the chef does an outstanding job of charring the final product. If you like steak go to this Best of the Best, "Shipwreck Point"."

  • "we always enjoy the food and wine list! The atmosphere is great and good looking people are always on hand...Always a Good Job!!!"

  • "Our group arrived at 6:30pm. The wine we chose was not available and the wait staff was unable to make any other recommendations due to lack of knowledge of the wine list (his own admission . We ordered a few appetizers and dinner. Everything arrived piecemeal and the dinners were not served until well after 9pm. The steaks were good, but the Caesar salad was tasteless and the ahi tuna (which was ordered "rare) was overcooked and seasoned like a steak ("Montreal Steak" seasoning). The chef had no knowledge of how to cook fresh tuna The noise level was beyond energetic. It was downright unbearable. We could not hear ourselves think....never mind have a conversation. We were all very disappointed. Sorry"

  • "My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant after seeing the limited menu on Open Table but when we got there the specials and full menu were absolutely amazing. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great...seat by the window very romantic. I only recommend getting there early before the rush cause it does get a bit noisy...but the view from ore table was great right I the water..highly recommend the chocolate gonnach for dessert"

  • "My best dining experience ever. The manager robbie was there talking to guest and I find that outstanding. I'm impressed!"

  • "We were excited to return to shipwreck Point because we had so many fond memories of our dinner in Oct. 2013. We received a window table, as requested. Th3e wine list is still very good and the hot popovers they serve are still great. So is the service. The food disappointed. To be fair, the manager listened to us and when we returned for a second visit, he comped the dessert. Maybe next time we will stick with the steaks and not try the other menu items. Note: the clams and Cape May salts (oysters) are great!"

  • "Place is not terrible but pricey and noisey... loud!!! "Acoustics are bad" service staff must yell and you must yell in return. Veal Chop delicious, many good salads, valet parking. Two $45.00 Tuna Special's to be RARE arrived fully cooked and even over cooked. Drinks very expensive including wine by the glass. Not sure if I will give it a second try. Please note, we are from the Manhattan area and dine out very often. Also, our service person offered to take the Tuna back and have the Chef cook two more but this is something that we choose not to do for fear of kitchen retaliation!!!!"

  • "I have been here a few times in the past and really enjoyed it! However, it was just ok this time! They couldn't not accomediate an appetizer that I just wanted it without the bacon. They said no they cam't do that. The meal came and my steak was just ok. So needless to say I won't be back!"

  • "My husband and I went to dinner here over the weekend and loved it! We requested a seat by the window when making the reservation and sure enough we got it! Beautiful view of the inlet between Point Pleasant and Manasqaun. Food was absolutely delicious and service was great! We would definitely return!"

  • "When my husband and I eat here, we sit at the bar. It is just easier for us to have a conversation. We went with friends we had not seen in several months and had a lot of catching up to do. We made a 7:15 reservation and requested a table "not in the center of the room" as I felt it would be too busy and noisy. Even where we sat, it was extremely noisy. Unfortunately the people at our table prior to our reservation did not get up (even though they had paid their check) until 7:45. While we waited the owner suggested we have a drink. When our check came the drinks were on it. We mentioned it to the waiter who spoke to the owner and they were removed. The food was great and the view was beautiful."

  • "This restaurant still does not know how to grill a steak. Ordered medium RARE. Came out medium. This happened 2 years ago and they still can't get it right. Potatoes came out lukewarm..had to get them sent back to be reheated. Clams excellent, lamb rack excellent and correctly medium rare. Steak was listed as 20 oz Rib eye. It looked like under 1 pound to me."

  • "Truly the loudest restaurant I have ever been to. We couldn't get out of there fast enough, which is unfortunate because our group typically likes to enjoy desserts and after dinner drinks. Service was spotty, however the food was fantastic."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Our table was right in the window and it was still light out so we were able to see the boats coming and going through the inlet. It was perfect!"

  • "The baked clams with loster and bacon were worthy of the price. (7 clams). Ala carte veggies are large portions and can be shared. Bring your wallet. "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The dining area is small and its all hard surfaces. The result is a very loud environment. We had to speak very loudly across the table. It was also about 65 degrees in there, so dress apporpriately. "

  • "We had a reservation for the dinning room but there was a large group in this moderate size room and it was too loud. We decided to go someplace else, but the bar was empty and the three of us had dinner at the bar. Michele the bar tender was very attentive and made great Cosmos. We shared baked clams and a mozzarela and prozzuto dish, very good. I had the scallops and loved them. Best I ever had. It is not easy to find a very good restaurant in our area. We will be returning."

  • "An attractive and nicely appointed restaurant with an interesting menu and good food. Some tables were too tightly packed, and the noise level was at times very distracting. The quality of the service fell off towards the end of the meal. "

  • "The food and service was top notch a little pricey but worth every penny. Seafood was best I every had "

  • "We had heard about Shipwreck Point through friends who know we aren't easy to please at times. We loved everything about this place! The food and service were both outstanding. Staff payed attention to every detail throughout the night without being intrusive. The steaks, cooked to perfection were amazing and the seafood, you could tell was fresh off the boat. We enjoyed the popovers very much, what a nice touch. We will definitely be back and bring friends.. Drinks were tasty!"

  • "The food wasn't bad but certainly not worth the NY City prices charged for a seafood restaurant in Point Pleasant, NJ. We heard from the waiter that the place reopened a short time ago after damage from Hurricane Sandy. I think the prices are jacked up to cover some of their loses. You can get seafood as good or better Jack Bakers Wharfside or Lobster Shanty."

  • "Used to be my favorite place Seed like one waiter this time service took way too long. Over 2 hours to eat It was cold when it came out. Need more waiters. Then took for ever to get car. Seemed they parked it in the next town. I never write reviews it's not my thing. But like I said this was my favorite place. I hope the new owners will get it dialed in!!"

  • "Really enjoyed our Easter dinner tonight. Earl was our waiter and did a fabulous job. Service was great and the food was superb. For appetizers we had the shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque which were both excellent. My husband and I both had the NY Strip and they were both cooked to perfection and delish! Not sure how we even had room for dessert, but we ordered the blueberry creme brûlée and it was really very good. So all in all, we had a great dining experience at Shipwreck Point and we will be back. And even the owner, Richard made sure we had a great experience. He came over a couple of times and really made sure we enjoyed our meal. "

  • "The food and service were excellent...difficult to talk at the table however as the noise level is not muffled from the surrounding tables."

  • "We enjoyed our meal a lot. We were there for the JS Resataurant menu. My husband's salmon was excellent but my surf and turf was prepared too well done and I asked for medium rare. Also, we felt slightly rushed, and was wondering if that was due to the menu choice? Our wait staff were very attentive, but a bit rushed."

  • "Our wines accounted for most of the bill, albeit great selections. Also, there is no way a we could have afforded to go unless it was Restaurant Week. We are definite foodies though, and the menu offered was unique and delicious. Service was great, too. Everything about the restaurant was terrific, except the prices."

  • "This is a must dine restaurant when at the Shore. The fish special was excellent, service attentive but not intrusive and the location along the Manasquan inlet provides a panoramic view of the boating scene."

  • "will go back, energetic room, tables spaced nicely, little pricey."

  • "Overall our experience was positive. Service was very attentive. My girlfriend's Filet Mignon was overcooked, so we had to send it back, but they quickly got here another one without incident. Steaks were good but not great. Dessert was okay. We will try it again. It looks like it would be a nice view at sunset."

  • "everything was fantastic, the time in between our appetizer and our dinner order could have been a little quicker but wasn't really all that bad. Outside of that slight gap, everything was great. Can't wait to go back. If the Cajun ribeye is still on special GET IT!"

  • "This restaurant is by far the best steakhouse! The food is so good, the service is impeccable, and I recommend the experience highly!!"

  • "Couldn't hear the people at my table. Management needs to ask loud tables to tone it down a bit. Visited in Sept and this past weekend and both times I could hear my wife across the table. I will try one more time as the food and service is incredible. If I can not have a conversation the third time it will be my last."

  • "It was very, very quiet when we arrived. The weather and time of the week, no doubt, had something to do with it. The staff were very attentive and the food was good."
