The food took a long time to arrive and then was not very warm. The lobster tail was over cooked and there were only 4 small scallops.

The meat-eaters in our family were thrilled with the food, their steaks were cooked perfectly and plates loaded with side dishes. However, the only veg option they have is a sad risotto reminicent of Rice-A-Roni. No, wait, Rice-A-Roni has more flavor. They tried to fix the dish by adding copious amounts of black pepper and parmesan cheese but it was still a sad little dish for $18. The vegetables that were offered as side-dishes to the meat were gorgeous so someone in the kitchen knows how to prepare lovely vegetables. Take the carnivores, leave the vegetarian at home.

Skip this place if you are more into seeing and being seen than the food on your plate! If you want a place that feels more neighborly with attentive service, truly yummy food dedicated to intricate quality (all bread is made in-house for example) and not a bunch of ingredients you can't identify, with a kick of awesome Denver history thrown in (ask your server for some stories), then the Ship Tavern will not disappoint! Well crafted cocktails, crab cakes that were more crab than cake, French onion with a housemade broth, well prepared prime rib and a kobe burger worth its $18 and a steady flow of attention from the staff that was never too much...we will be going back as soon as we can. You should too!

We went for the lobster rolls, they call them the Main Lobster Salad on a bun. We just got back from Ptown and have been on the search for a great lobster roll. They don't hold back here at the Ship Tavern, they stack the lobster high on the bun and it is fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back to enjoy these again.

It's the Brown Palace. You expect it to be good, and it is. Everything is classic in this tavern seeped in tradition. We loved the ship models and a bar that knows how to mix drinks. The portions are large, and very tasty. The horseradish for the prime rib was over-the-top hot, but the meat was cooked to perfection. All in all, we had a great evening.

We had a reservation and had requested the quietest spot--This restaurant does have equistical problems, we know. The place we were seated was fine and 3 minutes later a table of 6 or 7 women was seated right next to us. One of our family has a hearing problem and since we asked for quiet, it made no sense to seat a group like that right next to us. There was other space available. We mentionedm it to our server and were told the construction of the ceiling. Otherwise, the food was good and the service good. The best was when we left,it was pouring rain and the Valet gave us an umbrella and was just as sweet and accommodating as possible. That left us with a good feeling.

My wife and I had a great meal, to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The hostess greeted us warmly, and congratulated us on our anniversary milestone (I had included a comment on the booking screen, and it was noted on her computer seating chart). Our waiter, Walter, was very attentive and friendly. My wife had the French Onion Soup, and I had the Seafood Chowder...both were excellent. Our entrees were the Kobe Burger (wife), and the Prime Rib (me). Both were prepared exactly as ordered, and delicious. We were surprised with a complementary dessert, a Black Bottom Pie for two!! We couldn't have been more pleased with the entire experience!!! This is definitely our "special occasion" restaurant of choice.

We've been guests at the Ship Tavern a number of times over the years and, until this visit, left completely satisfied. But this time we had two unexpected disappointments, in service and food. Our server, Jack, seemed less than organized. He did notice we had no bread at our table - and commented on it - but his promise to correct that didn't come true until halfway through dinner. And I would suggest to Jack that when he adjusts a table setting he not touch the center of the plates with his bare fingers. And you might imagine our surprise when, later that evening in our hotel room, we found the "cheesecake" had all the delicious toppings but no actual cheesecake. We'll be back, but with lowered expectations.

In Denver for a conference, I selected Ship Tavern for dinner with a client based on location and prior reviews. The Brown Palace hotel is a historical gem, and the Ship Tavern fits right in. Our server was one of the best I've encountered in any city restaurant - engaging, knowledgeable, offering good suggestions -- clearly a pro. He pointed our party to the prime rib, a Ship Tavern specialty. We all selected it (in different sized portions). The results were splendid, a succulent well-seasoned portion accompanied by fresh vegetables. We left pleasantly satiated, and more than happy to recommend this establishment.

Great food, service, and ambiance. Quiet and feels secluded. Went for Sunday lunch/brunch it was wonderful but almost empty. Prime rib was wonderful. My kids even raved about the food from the kids menu. The other restaurants in the Brown Palace seemed to get all the brunch traffic, but The Ship was outstanding if you are looking for good food in a quiet spot.

I've loved the Ship Tavern since I was a child. The menu is varied, including sandwiches and some of Denver's best burgers to yummy, more formal entrees. We're always proud to take guests from out-of-town to the Ship Tavern. It's just the right blend of casual and "up market." We can always count on a very tasty meal, served well in a unique setting.

The Brown Palace is known for their house made Caesar as well as their prime rib, but don't discount one of their many other options. The scallops and tarragon risotto were just fabulous (their wine offerings were as well). The service is unmatched and the waitstaff aims to please with a very professional demeanor. We like to come here for special occasions, but we're finding The Ship Tavern to be one of our favorite weekly dining spots as well.

The Ships Tavern was recommended to m by a friend for a place to go for an upscale casual anniversary dinner before a theater engagement. Spot on. Dressy or casual is acceptable attire. The wait staff was efficient, did not hover but was attentive and professional. We opted for several appetizers and a shared salad to stay on the light side. The shaved prime rib quesadilla was outstanding in flavor, servicing size and a great value. A nice old pub atmosphere inside a ship made it not quiet but not rowdy, enjoyable. Highly recommend for a place to stop in for a grog or meal.
