This is a well-appointed, cozy spot for an intimate experience; Shinjuku has a great wine list and is considerate of all eaters--ask for the gluten-free and the vegetarian menus. The service is top-notch--friendly, helpful, and modest. And the food is FANTASTIC.

This restaurant really covers all the bases. The sashimi and rolls are first rate as well as the grilled and fried dishes. My wife doesn't eat sushi but loved her meal. The food makes you feel like you're in Tokyo. Be aware this is a small restaurant with all of the tables aligned in a single row on one wall. There is a small bar area with five or six seats. I would advise getting there early but be ready to eat great food at a reasonable price with great service.

Coming from Los Angeles, I was impressed to find such n authentic and high quality Japanese restaurant in Texas. Service was excellent and the food was stellar. Get the black mussels and candied jalepeno roll- you won't be sorry.

High quality no-nonsense sushi and not a lot of fancy rolls. Small hot dishes were quite good. We went on a Monday night and they were out of several things. The waitress was very nice but didn't seems to be on top of things. She missed putting in part of our order and didn't know that they were out of things until putting in the orders. Still, overall, it was good and I would definitely go back.

Took our boss for lunch, beat the lunch crowd. Hostess recommendation of stir fry edamame was spot on, I've not found edamame edible. The Ceviche was fantastic, we both wanted to drink the leftover juice from the plate.

Wonderful fare, wonderful service. Anthony, our server, was very attentive and made great suggestions. The grilled yellowtail and its accoutrements were outstanding. Every morsel was indeed excitement for the palate!

This sushi place has some of the freshest sushi I have ever had in Fort Worth. The service was great and so was the food. Be sushi to ask the server what the freshest sushi of the day is. It is not your average sushi restaurant but it is worth it.

  • First Time Dining Experience
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 3/14/2014
When we arrived, we were the only two people in the entire place. But the food was well worth the early dining experience. We ordered a bottle of wine for the meal and followed the recommendations of the waitress. Similar to a tapas style eatery, the plates were smaller portions to share between the table (as well as the food was coursed out gradually through the evening). Started with (4) sushi rolls: unagi (eel), taraba (king crab), vegetable roll, and their chef's special: surf and turf! All amazing! Our favorite was the surf and turf! Next courses: hand-made pork gyoza, ishiyaki (beef tongue and duck), okonomiyaki, and japanese mushrooms (extremely citrus -y and I could have done without). Will definitely be going back for more!!!!

The food was delicious! Thank goodness, because the service may be the worst I've ever had. I understand making little mistakes or being busy, I was a waitress and bar tender for many years. However, when you combine the fact that the server didn't really listen, forgot to put things in so we waited an hour for a simple roll, ignored us when she walked by though she clearly saw we needed her, and hung out by the computer for long periods of time instead of getting our order or coming over later when the manager told her we needed her, the experience was horrible. We were exhausted from trying to get her to help us or pay attention to us. However, the food was wonderful once we got it.

Having lived in Tokyo for two years, I can attest that the cuisine and presentation at Shinjuku Station reminds me of my former home. The staff took great care of us, and we left very full and satisfied. A must-go restaurant!

  • Authentic Japanese in DFW finally!
    JimlovesseafoodVIP
    Dined on 12/31/2013
We moved here from NY and haven't found any authentic Japanese restaurants in the DFW area....until now! Shinjuku Station is not your typical Westernized Japanese sushi place. They do not have sushi rolls with cream cheese, imitation crab meat, or avocados or jalapenos. (You'll never find California rolls in Japan!) However if you want fresh sushi, this is the place. Their cooked appetizer items are really what their specialty is. They have many "tapas-type" items which makes the dining experience fun and unique. Highly recommend this restaurant if you desire a true taste of Japan.

Shinjuku Station is innovative and warm, and is my first choice when dining out. Whether you stop in at lunch or dinner, you will always be greeted by their staff in a way that helps you feel at home. If you feel intimidated by the menu there is no need to worry because the servers are very helpful and make great recommendations. Always have the Tok Fries and Kabocha Cheescake :)

The Hamachi Zest Garlic roll was delicious. Definitely something I'll come back for. The bento box was good, but the seaweed salad was too fishy. The tok fries were ok, the assorted tempura delicious but the quantity too small. Service was excellent.

Incredible traditional Japanese food! The wait staff explained everything on the menu and helped me pick out a nicer Sake than what I usually order at other Asian restaurants. The food was incredibly fresh, inventive and tasty. The cocktails are also fresh and delicious. This is the perfect date spot for people who are looking for a date night and enjoy great food. I'll definitely be returning soon!
