  • Cute place with great food...

We went to Sherbourne for an anniversary dinner. It's a small, perfectly lit restaurant tucked away from the busyness of the surrounding neighborhood. The staff was very animated and energetic. We loved the mash potato bar versus the traditional bread on the table. Nice touch. All in all, the food was great: sole, filet, brussel sprouts. All good! A note on their website said to mentioned it and you'd get two glasses of prosecco... they basically ignored it. Also, we had noted it was our anniversary in our opentable reservation... also was ignored. So great food, but some of the details were lacking that would make it impeccable

Located behind the famous Jerry's Deli, I never in a million years would have known it was here! Loved the look of the restaurant and I have to say the service people were amazing! It's a very upbeat and energetic crowd in this small space. Instead of bread, they have a mashed potato cart with to-die-for potato blends! Quirky and delish... it was a nice, original twist. I had their hamburger and fries for dinner. The fries come in an adorable mini fry basket and the hamburger was juicy and flavorful. Really, really good. All in all, a terrific evening of fun food and energetic company. I would recommend it.

Billed as American Rustic the food is upscale in this quasi-romantic hideaway. While the Chef has it together, I think mgmt needs some help. First off, when I booked the reservation thru open table, I noted it was a birthday celebration. When the woman called my cell to confirm the reservation, she never mentioned the special request so I asked, and she said she did receive it. Asked if there was anything she could do to make the table special and she just said all our tables have candles and flowers. Oh well. Anyway, when we arrived we were greeted by Joe who turned out to be our waiter and he was excellent. They have a ‘team’ style serving structure, meaning the person you give the order to, is not the person that presents the culi

This has become one of my favorite restaurants in town. From the AMAZING mashed potato bar presented by a "spuds mixologist", to the outstanding specials, to even their basic menu, all of the food is unique and delicious - stand-outs being the dover sole stuffed with crab, raw scallops on the half-shell, zucchini and parsnip tots, and truffle mac and cheese. The staff is refreshingly friendly and accommodating - no aloof LA attitudes, and the decor is quirky and cool. On our last visit, Chef Keven Lee came out and chatted with us about the food, even explaining some of the techniques he used, which was a wonderful treat. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in a fun, relaxed environment.

Food was good. The kitchen was ridiculously slow. The restaurant was almost empty and it was over 45 minutes before we even got the mashed potatoes. Well over an hour and finally asked where was the food. It was uncomfortably warm in the room. Servers were nice and the food was tasty .

I really enjoyed my experience, this restaurant is cozy and welcoming. The staff was wonderful, very attentive. The mash potato trio was delectable. The tuna tartar appetizer was very good. Sprouts with pancetta were yummy. Our entrees were very good as well. The only thing I didnt like was the drink prices, $15-$17. High for my taste.

Reader's Digest Review: Only come here if you can pass on the cocktails and bring your own wine. The Sherbourne could be a great little restaurant if they didn't gouge you on the cocktails and wine list. $17 cocktails and $15 for a glass of Acacia Pinot Noir? Come on. The food is good, not great, and the service still seems like it needs to work out the kinks, although they have been open since November so they should have figured it out by now. Dishes brought to our table in error; the chef interrupting our waitress in the middle of her taking our order for something completely unnecessary. Too many great restaurants in LA. This isn't one of them.

Sherbourne was overall a great experience. We were seated quickly, however we sat for an extended length of time there after without anyone checking on us or taking our drink order. Once one of the waitstaff realized that we had been sitting unattended, they promptly made it up with a round of free drinks and free appetizer. They continued to be apologetic and beyond attentive there after. These actions completely turned the experience into a very positive one. I would venture to say that it was so close to outstanding. I will highly recommend this restaurant.

Loved it. Great food. Funky setting, but very cozy and intimate. The mash potato mixology was fun. We had tuna tartar, the pork chops and the lamb shank (meat fell off the bone). The food presentations are lovely and the flavors do not disappoint. Our server Joe was great! The wine list is good, but a bit short, so you may want to bring your own. This place is great for a date night, special occasion, or for a get together with friends.

The restaurant is a great hidden gem with a lovely outside dimly lit, sultry ambience. The menu is limited, but the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the custom potato cart instead of bread. Although our server was very friendly and explained the menu very thoroughly, once we received our food, he never appeared again. We sat with our finished dinner plates in front of us for an extremely long time, and couldn't even find him to flag him down. Other than the slight blip in the service, I would return!

With so many fantastic options for dining in LA, Sherbourne is just average. The food is certainly better than a typical casual restaurant but nowhere near the quality of top-level establishments. The waitress told me that the Lamb Shank was the best item on the menu, and it was certainly tasty, but not even close to the best I've ever had. Service was not up to par as the waitress did not have any knowledge about the menu other than what was printed on it already. Didn't know where the fish came from, didn't know how certain dished were prepared, etc. The atmosphere is excellent and I would probably go back on a date, but not because of the food.

The food was amazing, the drive there horrific. It is a super small venue, so a close to strangers dining experience. The chef is a super genius with food pairings that are inspired. There is a cute potato cart idea that needs a little finessing to be awesome. The cart is ungainly on the uneven stone floor and looks awkward to push around.. And the smell of sterno when it is parked nearby ( small venue, so often) is awful. Thu need to hire a bartender to enable the servers to be more attentive, we loved Joseph... Would have been nice o see him more frequently.. Especially when we wanted to pay our bill or mention the low temp on the pork. These little things did not dent the wonderful food.. But might have made it almost not worth the drive

My husband and I went to Sherbourne for my birthday and were quite impressed. The indoor/outdoor patio atmosphere is lovely and the setting is great. Our waitress and bartender, Taylor, was fantastic and her drink recommendations (both cocktails and a glass of wine with our entrees) were spot on. We ordered the chicken paillard, the truffle chicken pasta, and the side of spinach. The chicken was good, the pasta was to die for, and then we got the cookie for dessert and it was also delicious. Will definitely be going back and recommending to friends.

The decor captured my imagination, reminiscent of a 20's country speakeasy, it is indoor and outdoor with the roof being glass panes pitched at an anle. I watched the moonrise while sipping my Sherbourne Special cocktail. The specialty drinks from the rustic wooden bar were unique and inspired (candied bacon!), the menu offers steak, lamb, fish and pork choices that all sound delectable. We had the salmon baked on bamboo and the NY strip. There were 4 choices of sauce for the strip and we got the merlot demi-glace. Treat yourself and enjoy an evening at Sherbourne.

I came here two Saturday's ago (June 2) for my birthday. The restaurant was a blind pick of mine, based off of Yelp reviews, really. However, it turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. And my friends and I were talking about how none of us could remember having enjoyed a new restaurant which we knew nothing about as much as we did at Sherbourne. Summary: pork chops are the best I've ever had. The special for the night, a rib-eye, was excellently cooked, but was salted way too unevenly. Half the steak tasted great, then it suddenly became extremely salty. But that was literally the only thing awry about an overall excellent meal. The tomahawk was a gigantic steak which not only looked good but tasted it

Hard to find, but well worth the effort. Tucked behind Jerry's Deli, Sherbourne has an interesting outside - inside vibe as the dining is covered by a translucent roof. The service was excellent and the dishes we had (hangar steak, chopped salad) were a nice take on steakhouse standards. The mashed potato cart (provided in lieu of bread) was a very nice touch! The prices were fair, though hardly a bargain. And there was ample street parking on Robertson. We will definitely be back to try the chicken paillard, pork chop, and chocolate souffle.
