Diner Reviews
  • "Generous portions, quality food and ingredients, well prepared and moderately priced."

  • "This was our first visit to Shem Creek Bar and Grill and we were not disappointed. Our table was a window seat over looking Shem Creek. We started with a half dozen fresh shucked oysters that melted in our mouth. We had one of the "naked seafood" selections, Shrimp and Scallops, which are prepared simply grilled with lemon and butter and special spices. We also had the Mahi Albert which was Mahi Mahi grilled with butter and capers. Both dishes were delicious. We were there at 6pm and didn't really need the reservation at that time but the hostess said it was better to be safe than sorry. Shortly after we were seated, the restaurant really filled up and there was a large line waiting to be seated when we left."

  • "Food was okay. Would not go back. Not very flavorful and waiter could not have been any slower & disinterested."

  • " The kids' milkshakes cost $5.50, and for that you get a cup that contains a small amount of ice cream blended with ice! My daughter didn't like it, and as the meal went on, we watched the ice melt and separate from the ice cream. Very unappetizing, and a ripoff at that price. One of the kids ordered a kids' burger, and we were told they were out, but regular-sized burgers were available - a sign that they are just grilling frozen patties rather than making them fresh. Our server never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, and after mentioning that hot rolls were just coming out of the oven, he forgot about them, and we had to remind him! The adults' entrees were better, but still nothing we would call delicious."

  • "Have been going to Shem's Creek for many years and never had a bad meal. They have the BEST lime aid in the country."

  • "Food was delicious the only reason I deducted from service was because of the bartender who I believe must have been training. But I've been before when everything was spot on and our waiter was great."

  • "I had a less than memorable Big Bowl of mussels, scallops and fried clams over linguine. Very bland with parts being underdone and parts overdone. Our reservation was lost so the table wait was very long even though there seemed to be several open tables. That Monday was our waiter's first night and he seemed fairly confused."

  • "The experience was a far cry from acceptable. My wine came with a fly in it and then our meal showed up fried, not blackened and COLD."

  • "We were seated for our reservation immediately but it took an hour & 15 minutes at least to get our food AND pre dinner bread. When the food came everyone's side dishes were cold. Our waitress was apologetic but she was so busy herself. The restaurant wasn't busy!!!"

  • "Great local, spot for father's day. I enjoy the local flavor and feel, had plenty of good choices and options for the kiddies too. I would recommend to a friend as well."

  • "Not impressed. First time here & won't be back. Too many other seafood restaurants with great food. Guess you get what you pay for. The view was the best thing about this restaurant,"

  • "Food was overcooked. Shells in oysters. Flounder tasted fishy. Waitress was rude. Waitress very bothered when asked to have blinds raised for Shem Creek view, the ONLY tolerable part of the whole experience!"

  • "This was our first time here and we loved it! We will be moving down in July and I've already planned to take more family here when they come down to visit then. Thank you for an amazing time & lunch! Lynn & Eric Vogel, New York"
