There was nothing special about this place. The food was terrible all 5 members had poor food. The price of the meals is like pouring salt on a open wound. I would save my time and go to Captain D's next time.

This restaurant has a great setting on Shem Creek, better than the restaurants across the street. However, the food was average and not nicely presented. The place also did not seem so clean: Grimy ceiling and grimy windows, very old furniture. There is a great outdoor bar right on the creek and I would come back for that.

This restaurant on Shem Creek is a little hidden, but the views are great. The prices are reasonable, and the food is good. Nice relaxing patio overlooking the creek.

This was our first time at Shem Creek Bar & Grill and we came on the recommendation of my uncle who used to live in the area. We were celebrating our 24th anniversary. We were originally going to go somewhere fancy and more expensive, but honestly I just wanted to dig into a mess of crab legs. And boy did they deliver! They gave us the best seat in the house overlooking Shem Creek and the dock. It was a beautiful evening, and we will go back for sure. If you're a margarita lover, their house margarita was one of the best I've ever had.

Took our college aged daughter out to dinner here while buying supplies. Had an awesome waiter who was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent suggestions. My husband had seafood Wando which was fantastic. I had fried shrimp which were so fresh with just the right amount of batter. Daughter had the crabcakes, which really were dam' good (see the menu). Will be back.

We need to use a ramp to enter a restaurant. Our approach to the restaurant on the ramp was unappealing. We had to navigate around a very dirty trash bin which was filled with boxes. We wondered about the cleanliness of the restaurant. Once inside, we were not able to get out to the deck because in order to get there, you must take a step down, then continue on through a dining area where you can use the ramp again. We took a table inside with a view. The menu looked good,, but from the inside, some of the windows were not clean and we decided to have a beer and move on to somewhere else for lunch. As we left using the ramp, the trash bin had been emptied, but it was still there, looking very dirty.

Food was not at all amazing. I wish it was because of how great the service was and the views. I had the Crab Cakes and they were barely warm and mushy. I did not like the she crab soup on top which made the cakes even colder. My friend got the stuffed flounder which was barely cooked. One fillet was very iffy. We are from Emerald Isle NC where we get excellent views and excellent seafood so we are not coming from a place that doesn't know anything about seafood.

We had a great time at the Shem Creek Bar and Grille. The only draw back was the service. Our waitress forgot several things and the food was slow coming out. Good thing we all were enjoying each other's company.

My husband and I were expecting some friends from out of town. They wanted to dine at a seafood restaurant. We suggested the Shem Creek Bar and Grill primarily for its location and previous experience. What an excellent choice! I am so happy we made reservations. The restaurant was very crowded, but we were seated immediately. Our food was served hot and fresh. The service was outstanding! We will definitely recommend this restaurant to our other friends!

Reservations were made for 10 people. When we arrived discovered that you had to sit at the bar to receive happy hour prices. So, 10 of us sat at the bar to eat. Food was great and bartender was excellent.

This was our first visit to Shem Creek Bar and Grill and we were not disappointed. Our table was a window seat over looking Shem Creek. We started with a half dozen fresh shucked oysters that melted in our mouth. We had one of the "naked seafood" selections, Shrimp and Scallops, which are prepared simply grilled with lemon and butter and special spices. We also had the Mahi Albert which was Mahi Mahi grilled with butter and capers. Both dishes were delicious. We were there at 6pm and didn't really need the reservation at that time but the hostess said it was better to be safe than sorry. Shortly after we were seated, the restaurant really filled up and there was a large line waiting to be seated when we left.

The kids' milkshakes cost $5.50, and for that you get a cup that contains a small amount of ice cream blended with ice! My daughter didn't like it, and as the meal went on, we watched the ice melt and separate from the ice cream. Very unappetizing, and a ripoff at that price. One of the kids ordered a kids' burger, and we were told they were out, but regular-sized burgers were available - a sign that they are just grilling frozen patties rather than making them fresh. Our server never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, and after mentioning that hot rolls were just coming out of the oven, he forgot about them, and we had to remind him! The adults' entrees were better, but still nothing we would call delicious.

Food was delicious the only reason I deducted from service was because of the bartender who I believe must have been training. But I've been before when everything was spot on and our waiter was great.

I had a less than memorable Big Bowl of mussels, scallops and fried clams over linguine. Very bland with parts being underdone and parts overdone. Our reservation was lost so the table wait was very long even though there seemed to be several open tables. That Monday was our waiter's first night and he seemed fairly confused.

We were seated for our reservation immediately but it took an hour & 15 minutes at least to get our food AND pre dinner bread. When the food came everyone's side dishes were cold. Our waitress was apologetic but she was so busy herself. The restaurant wasn't busy!!!
