  • "Have been here twice and both times were consistently good. The service was good and of course, the view was outstanding. It was great to be at the Del."

  • "Our 1st experience at the Hotel Del Coronado was incredible. The ambience was extraordinary with manicured grounds, and marvelous sunset, made for a most extraordinary experience. We chose the outdoor patio. Service was outstanding, friendly, delightful, and attentive. We 1st split a Caesar salad, Then we had grass fed ribeye steak and a lobster for our main course. The salad was very good. The lobster, with risotto was scrumptious and served in a delightful presentation. My steak with truffle butter and roasted carrots was absolutely incredible. We also had delicious spinach side dish. Toasted & buttered French bread, was included. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. We had incredible ice cream at the Moo Time Ice Cream Parlor."

  • "We ate outside while the sun was setting. Gorgeous evening. Very pleasant staff. They did not push us to hurry so that they could fill our table with the next party. They were friendly and professional. The food was excellent --well, the bread could have been better -- somewhat cardboard tasting and covered in a dark yellow oil of some sort. However, the main entrees and the dessert (which we shared) were all delicious."

  • "My husband and I had brunch here for his birthday. The buffet was very well laid out with tons of options. We wish we were more hungry because we didn't feel like we ate as much as we should have for the price! The view was amazing."

  • "The view of the water is great, and the restaurant is located in the world famous Del Hotel in Coronado. You can also watch the Naval Aviation fighter jets land. The food was nice, but the portions were smaller than expected."

  • "Terrific food. Amazing view. We loved both our lunch, especially the duet option (choice of any two --Sheerwater chopped salad and lobster bisque was heavenly). Sitting outside on the verandah overlooking the sands of the beach, ocean and Point Loma beyond was replenishing. Great job, Sheerwater and Hotel del!"

  • "It was very busy...to be expected on a Sunday morning. Because it's all you can eat, the only wait was for the omelette bar. Very tasty food, with lots of variety."

  • "Service was friendly, but slow to get food. It was a little chilly even with the outdoor heaters. A little pricey."

  • "Great setting on the beach. Goat cheese appetizer was excellent. Seafood was well prepared and presented."

  • "This was my 4th time dining here. All experiences have been roughly the same. Always promptly seated when making reservations. The food is very good, the seafood is excellent. The mussels are sweet and the drinks are strong. My only complaint is that the wait is sometimes over an hour for food. At times it was difficult to get the attention of our server who seemed overwhelmed but was very polite and kept the drinks coming. We were also missing silverware, had to repeatedly ask for water refills, little things which at a high end restaurant in a historic hotel shouldn't be overlooked. But hey, it was lunch, and again, strong drinks with a lovely view, some things you can let slide."

  • "We were guests at the Hotel Del Coronda, and had enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Sheerwater and the food was great and quite casual. At night, it transformed, especially dining outside on the patio. We enjoyed a dinner fit for any foodie. I had the white sea bass over butternut rissoto and oyster mushrooms. My husband had the fish and chips for which the restaurant is famous. My meal was certainly on the gourmet side, and just delicious. We also couldn't help ourselves and skipped dessert but shared an order of the lobster mac and cheese. I've had this at many places, and this was by far one of the best."

  • "My parents were visiting from Colorado for Mom's birthday. She said she'd always wanted to go to the Hotel de Coronado. After looking at their sight I choose Sheerwater for her birthday dinner and what an exquisite treat!! The staff, the patio and THE FOOD all provided an superbly happy and memorable experience. Mom's salmon was cooked to perfection, as was Dad's steak. My husband and I, who are vegan, were thrilled with our orders of Organic Quinoa Burger and the Season Veggie Stir Fry. We especially enjoyed our server, Reuben who offered great suggestions along with a lot of attention and a great smile!"

  • "Thank you so much to the staff at Sheerwater; from the time we got there they treated us like royalty. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was fantastic. The view of the ocean and the beach from our table was also amazing. I will definitely come again and recommend this restaurant to anyone who is desiring great service, great food and a great view."

  • "We were staying at The Del and decided to dine in our first night. We were seated immediately when we arrived, and were given an amazing table with a gorgeous view. But it took a while for us to meet our waiter. Throughout the night, we felt like he was stretched between too many tables. The people at the table behind were so frustrated they almost left before ordering! We had our kids, and had the service been better we would have stayed for dessert. Our food was tasty, and the view was amazing. Hopefully next time the service will be better so that it's a home run."

  • "The view is great, however the food is nothing to right home about. If I'm gonna pay over $20 for a burger, I expect it to be cooked perfectly and it was nothing of the sort."

  • "Really excellent service--above and beyond. Great food and oysters. The fillet was a little thick for me but my husband loved it. Save room for dessert."

  • "Sheerwater at the Hotel del Coronoado is a fabulous "gem" located off of the water. With an unparalleled view, it is hard to imagine that the food can distract you from your surroundings - but it unquestionably does! The service was phenomenal, and the food was rich and palatable. Sheerwater provides a wonderful dining experience for all who visit the majestic Hotel, but it is especially appropriate for special occasions, outdoor dining, and a romantic evening."

  • "First, the Del is an iconic gem of a destination so the location itself is stunning and historical. Usually I've not much to say about hotel restaurants, other than they are convenient if staying at the hotel, but Sheerwater is an exception. Everything was perfect for our evening, the location, food, wine, and service. We had a small group with kids, reserving at the last minute, and were made welcome right from the start. I was torn between the surf & turf special vs the sea bass, but chose the bass and loved it. The brussels sprout appetizer with bacon was fantastic too. There is a decent kids menu, but my daughter wanted the regular salmon entree. She ate the whole thing and the server still brought a kids dessert at no extra charge :)"

  • "Sat on the outdoor patio by the fireplace. Great people watching spot. Particularly appreciated the young ladies in the thing bikinis heading from the pool to their rooms. Sunset was nice too. The food, Chilean Sea Bass, was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Validation of the full $26 parking fee (1st 2 hours) a plus."

  • "We were very disappointed in our recent lunch at Sheerwater. Dining outdoors at the Hotel Del Coronado has always been at the top of our list for entertaining out-of-town visitors but I'm not sure we'll be back. Service was stunningly slow and indifferent, and it was clear that our table was not alone. The quality of food was good but not what one would expect from the Del and certainly not commensurate with the price. Example: Lobster bisque was unremarkable in flavor and not much different than what one might get at the soup bar at a fresh grocery. It was served with avocado that wasn't ripe. Clearly not enough care was put into that dish. As always, the location was stunning but the overall experience was a huge letdown."

  • "Sheerwater restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado is all about ambience. Sitting outside in 72 degree weather looking past the lawn to the beach and ocean. Can't beat it. My wife is a fish taco aficionado and she claims they are the best she has ever had. I had Baja Mussels which also were very good. Be prepared to pay for that view and ambience."

  • "My friends and I went to the Hotel Del for a birthday celebration. Very friendly and accommodating server. She made sure we were happy with our experience. Ask for the outside patio, the atmosphere is much better than inside. This hotel is very very busy on weekends and holidays so reservations a must. Overall the food was good, but be forewarned, it is THE DEL so you will pay a premium at every turn."

  • "We went to Coronado on our last day and had a wonderfull time at Sheerwater! The view is amazing and the food is really special!!! all the staff was welcoming and they actually lit up one of the heaters for us outside even though it was lunch time! Sometimes it was hard to get our server but maybe because our table was behind a big collum...). I had the salmon with quinua salad and vegetables and I must say it was one of the best salmons I ever had!!! my friend had the burger (classic one) and also enjoyed it! We ordered the chocolate and banana desert and I must say it was the Gran Finalle of an excelent lunch!!"

  • "Service was outstanding at Sheerwater. The servers were very attentive and friendly. We had a lovely waitress who took time to learn our names. As we were leaving, she remembered our names. The breakfast buffet was perfect. We all loved it. We had out-of-town visitors coming to San Diego for the first time and they were very impressed. Of course, sitting outside by the ocean was a treat for our guests who had just arrived from a wintery East coast."

  • "The food was delicious. However, the ambiance left much to be desired. Considering the $200.00+ bill, one would expect comfortable chairs, table cloths and a general atmosphere of luxury. Not diner chairs, rubber place mats and feeling like you've walked into an IHOP."

  • "I have never been able to check every box for any restaurant other than Sheerwater. For us, it has always been perfect. We have enjoyed breakfast, lunch, dinner brunch and a late supper here, sometimes a drink or just dessert. The food is just delicious and the environment is exciting. A beautiful room with a spectacular ocean view and a great staff, Sheerwater is a real treat, at a very affordable price. Try it and it shall become your everything place."

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday by staying at the Hotel Del Coronado. I made reservations for dinner based on reviews. We originally said 6:45 but ended up being hungry at 5:30PM. They took us right in seated us at a table with a great view of the beach. I had told them in the reservation that I wanted a table with a view since it was my husband's birthday and they delivered. I had the Braised Short Rib that was perfect. Husband liked the fish in his Fish and Chips (french fries). Said they seem to have been sitting around since they were not hot. He loved the Clam Chowder. I returned my Lobster Bisque. They took it off the bill. The Shrimp Cocktail was amazingly good. Large and fresh."

  • "The view is amazing, the ambiance is great! The food is Ok, not great, especially given the price. The service is prompt, thoughtful and professional. Great place to just relax and enjoy the beautiful I have gone back many times, not for the food, but for the atmosphere and the view. Lovely place."

  • "Restaurant location in the Del is amazing! Views of the water and beach are spectacular and make for a relaxing dinner. There are heaters if it is chilly. The food prices are high...location location location. The food selection and quality are excellent though. Expect to spend between $40 and $50 per person for lunch with a glass of wine. Enjoy the service, relax, and sit back. We had pappardelle pasta with chicken dishes and were not disappointed!"

  • "This may be the first time I have been able to check each category offered, Sheerwater is that good. We have been regulars since the restaurant opened and it has become a mainstay in our lives, breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late supper. The adjoining Babcock and Story lounge makes this venue a complete dining destination. On this day we enjoyed a delicious brunch. While often over shadowed by its more famous counterpart in the Crown Room, Sheerwater shall exceed your expectations. The great ambience, friendly staff and ocean views all contribute to a perfect setting, accompanied , of course, by delicious fare. We truly enjoyed ourselves, as always."

  • "Met a group of girlfriends here. Most had never been to the Hotel Del. We enjoyed the food, ambiance and the view. The price point is in line with other steak/seafood restaurants (maybe slightly higher), the food was very good and you are at the Del."

  • "We were greeted by friendly hosts and served by an outstanding server. We chose food from the Restaurant Week menu. B The celery root soup and the chicken, basil, goat cheese pizza-like entree was abundant and delicious. My husband has citrus and blue crab salad and smoked fried chicken, both were well proportioned, flavorful and satisfying. The Sheerwater Bloody Mary was tasty and the mimosa cocktail was perfect. Lastly, our server helped to create an overall lovely experience."

  • "Me and my date had a great dinner at Sheerwater! We made reservations online several hours ahead of time and requested outdoor seating. We made it to dinner and were able to sit outside next to the fireplace. I was on a restricted diet at the time so my options were very limited. I had the heirloom tomato soup which was soooo good. It really was flavorful and warmed my belly on the chilly SD night. My entree wasn't that great. I had the quinoa burger which really could've been good if it was executed well, but it wasn't. My date had the lobster bisque which he enjoyed (w/o the mango salsa). He truly enjoyed his rainbow trout as well. I've dined here twice before and really enjoyed the food (when I wasn't on a restricted diet)."

  • "Great ambiance and food. My family ate outside on a pleasant evening and we could hear the waves break on the beach. The location in a famous 125-year old resort sure added to the experience. I highly suggest one stop by and experience everything."
