Sheepherder Bar & Grille- The Best Prime Rib in Town! The building at Sheepherder is the oldest building in all of Rancho Cordova & originally opened as The Citrus Hotel in 1913. All of our stone columns, three fireplaces & wooden rafters are original. Everything else has been completely renovated… in a comfortable, modern decor. "The Sheep" has an amazing Happy Hour M-F from 3-7p and Saturdays from 4p-close, Friday $18.95 Prime Rib dinner special, great affordable lunches & many bar specials throughout the week. Sheepherder has two private rooms available for special events or business meetings for groups of 2-60. Our main dining room is also available to rent out for parties of 60-120+. Come & sit by the fire with a cocktail & get to know many of our fantastic regulars. Or, come for lunch or dinner in a friendly & elegant atmosphere. We look forward to getting to know you! "The food came HOT and was absolutely fantastic. Generous portions for the men which was a plus. The bar area is in the same area where the dining room is and it got too loud at times which was annoying - especially when trying to hear what your dining guests were saying."

"I have just returned to Sacramento after a 15 year hiatus and of course wanted to rediscover one of my favorites from years past. Great easy location. Mark is an exceptional server. I'll definitely be back."

"Service was excellent. Wait staff was excellent. Food was good, and prices were good. A quiter table would have been nice, instead of the middle of all of the activities of the night, but it was Valentine's Day. Would highly recommend to others."

"It was Valentine's Day so maybe we have to give them a break on both the food and the service. They were all nice but they had clearly added in a lot of tables - well, I hope they did. If it is always jammed in like that it is a bigger problem, I don't want to sit 12 inches from strangers, it's not a mall cafeteria. Our waiter was quite good but he was clearly trying to do what he could for a lot of people. On another day the food and the ambiance might be a lot better but we hadn't been to the restaurant in a dozen years - because the last time the food wasn't very good.

It's worth a try if you haven't been. It just didn't make our rotation. Special occasions can be a chance to shine or fall short but there won't be a middle ground."

"Special Valentines Day menu was very limited. For someone with food allergies or lactose intolerent you were out of luck. Everything was in a cream sauce or loaded with cheese. I heard several people ask if they could order off of the regular menu because there was not enough to choose from on the limited "special" menu. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but for the price it wasn't that great either. I will go back and give it another shot with the regular menu and see if this place lives up to all the hype some of my co workers have given."
