They've started to offer new "sides" on a regular basis, and a new one was brussel sprouts in butter with bacon bits. Outstanding! We always request to sit on bar because it is more casual and relaxed. Plus on Saturday not there is live music. I ordered the King Crab roll and a spicy shrimp tempura Maki. My husband had blackened shrimp tacos. Both prepared excellently and super fresh. Nothing drenched in sauces to hide the flavor because it was delicious on its own. From start to finish, your meal is delightfully sinful in flavor. The decor and ambiance allow for a "dress up" night and the scene is lively and fun at both the oyster bar as well as the dining room bar. Expect great things after a night at Shaw's. The best part was their willingness to seat us in a quieter area and turn the volume down on the music...few places are so accommodating!
The service was spot on.. and the food delicious! I could have simply kept getting more bowls of the lobster bisque and been happy! The chopped seafood salad was delicious and there was a fair amount of everything listed which is not the case in most places these days either.. and the small and inexpensive desserts.. divine!! The bananas foster and key lime pie were devoured!!!

It is not an inexpensive evening but the fish is always great. The only problem we had was that it was more than 45 minutes from placing our order to getting our appetizers. The two tables seated at least 10 minutes after us, who placed their orders after we did, both got their appetizers and entrees before we did. We had a good waitress but I cannot figure out what we had to wait for.

My husband and I had the sampler combo which was a little pricey at $14 per person based on the small amount you're given. But it was very good as well. For our main course my husband had the Alaskan crab and steak combo. He kept on saying its the best crab he's ever had. I had to then try it and he was right! Supremely delicious! My son is very picky and for the first time he ate everything on his plate, he even ate the salmon skin:/(Salmon and garlic mash). We never have had a more satisfied preteen. They catered to our boys and it made dinner more enjoyable. My kids accidentally spilled a drink and about three staff members immediately without a second thought contained the spill and replaced soiled place settings. The waiter was very friendly, nice on the eyes and knowledgeable in his recommendations. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic time. The food was delicious!!! We arrived a little bit early and they had our table reserved, waiting for us. Our server (Kristen) was outstanding! She, by far was one of the best servers I ever had.
Mom had one minor complaint about the surf and turf she ordered. The lobster was served in the tail and had to be cut out. That is the first time ever having to do that with a full 8oz lobster tail, in any restaurant.

But the Schaumburg location does not compare to the downtown location. You also come to expect a higher quality from Shaws in general. Simple things like getting Pinot glasses when you order a bottle of Pinot Noir. Or having the waiter mention that your meal comes with spinach when ordering Creamed Spinach. This last visit was less than what is expected at Shaws with overcooked Salmon and undercooked scallops. Even as we left about 2:00 PM, a pair of men continued to discuss in serious tones -- obviously a serious discussion.
