  • "Great food and service. Just a little too pricey. Worth it for a special occasion though."

  • "It's all about nostalgia for us. We have been coming here for 18 years and more specifically bringing our children to Shaws for the annual lobster fest. It's a tradition for us."

  • "The very best Seafood in the Mid-West. The atmosphere and the liveliness of the people, everyone is happy and having a great time!"

  • "Went for lunch. Good selection of seafood both ocean and lake. Sides were not listed on menu. I had horseradish encrusted whitefish and my husband had Florida grouper. Both were delicious with nice presentation. Hash browns with onions were not worth the calories. Service was attentive but not obtrusive."

  • "Lobster was great and Rockefeller oysters were good too. Service was good."

  • "We had two guests in their mid 90s with a walker and wheelchair. As requested we were given a quiet table but also a table that was easily accessible. We were treated with dignity and respect although the situation called for extra attention and consideration."

  • "We came for my daughter's 16th bday celebration, they made her night with a special bday dessert and more than 1 person wishing her happy bday! Very nice! Also, I am allergic to shellfish and they made sure my fish was safely prepared! Thank you for a great night."

  • "Best lobster and price that I have had in a long time. Perfect cappuccino that kept it's froth to the lasted to the last sip."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "My husband and I had lobster which was extremely over cooked. We paid $200 for a meal that did not leave us satisfied."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "For a special 8-person celebratory outing, Shaw's made it even more special by setting us aside in a room that opened onto the main dining area, but didn't feel cordoned off. And the server was awesome--by the end, I wished she could have sat down and had dessert with us. The food was outstanding and the service impeccable and attentive without being fussy."

  • "I was originally from the burbs of Chicago and had eaten here when younger. What is so amazing is that the food and service has remained incredible over all these years. Thank you for making my business trip exceptional"

  • "Had to come back again for the soft shelled crab. Friend and I sat in the casual section of restaurant this time. Very lively crowd and quite loud. Unfortunately we left just as the band was starting but their first song was excellent. Made me want to start a New Orleans second line. OK you're wondering about the food. Soft shell crab was tender and seasoned perfectly. Lobster bisque flavor was excellent but carrot strips were too long and constantly fell off of spoon. Friend ordered the jambalaya and liked it but there was so much crammed into the cup that everytime he stirred it, some of the food fell out. Don't decrease the amount of food, but increase the container to make it easier to eat and more visually appealing."

  • "We had an excellent dinner experience! Our party consisted of 7 people and none if us were at all disappointed with our meals! The service was simply outstanding!! I have been to Shaw's in the past with the last visit having been approx. 10 years ago and the quality of the food and service remains superior!"

  • "I visit Shaw's 2-4 times a year. While it is not a "hot" place to go, it is still tough to get in on a Saturday night. The food is consistently great, service is old school awesome. In from out of town? You should go. Local and haven't been here in a while. You should go."

  • "Nice and varied menu. Combination platter tasted good, but was slightly overpriced. As the restaurant is very big, the treatment of the guests is not very personal. We were served quickly though."

  • "Always great. Never disappoints. Large number of seafood choices, but the crab and lobster are the reason to dine here. always try and make this one of our choices to dine when we come to Chicago."

  • "The steak house ambiance is always enjoyable. I opted for the lake perch since I now live on the coast and eat ocean fish on a regular basis. The perch was disapointing and not nearly as good as 100's of restaurants across the great lakes region. My girlfriend opted for 2 appetizers as her main course. I sampled 1 of her blue crab fingers, had I placed the order it wouldve been returned. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The other dish I think was supposed to be tuna but had almost all other ingredients and little to no fish. The ambiance at Shaw's is always enjoyable but its time for a change or I'm afraid they wont stay in business. What a shame for such a landmark restaurant."

  • "Most everything we had was great, the salmon was undercooked which was disappointing, but the service was excellent!"

  • "The atmosphere is very nice and the food is amazing. A number of things stood out to me this time: 1) I ordered a Stella from the bar and brought it to my table. When the waiter came over, he asked if we wanted refills on the drinks. When I said to bring be a diet Coke instead of a Stella, he gave me "why are you so cheap" look. I didn't imagine it... my wife saw it too. 2) He asked if we wanted an appetizer. We said no thank you to the appetizer... again, the condescending look. Again, my wife also saw it. Made her pretty mad this time. The rest of the meal was efficient and cooked to perfection as always....but the waiter needs some serious retraining if Shaw's wishes to maintain their reputation of wonderful service."

  • "Excellent spot for great seafood. The wait staff was excellent and news of us celebrating our anniversary spread throughout the staff. Very prompt service all night and it ended with a complimentary slice of chocolate cherry cake as a surprise from the staff. Great place and highly recommended!"

  • "Shaw's is not ALL about oysters! Lake Erie Walleye was delicious, scallops and shrimp perfectly done and beautifully presented, calamari juicy and tender. Caesar salad made just right, with white anchovies for a change. How do they keep the quality and service so impeccable? We love this place, and come here whenever in Chicago."

  • "Shaw's is just one of the classics you always have a good time at. Food, service, atmosphere always nice!"

  • "My recent business dinner in the Oyster Bar was a great combination of classic seafood, excellent wine, and wonderful live jazz music from Mississippi Heat which was the band playing that night. My NY colleague and I really enjoyed the ambience of the Oyster Bar where we could still enjoy the classic dishes from the dining room menu but in a more casual and vibrant environment. It was a great evening."

  • "Very disappointing to learn they only had one pound lobsters! Not worth the effort! Won't go back for lobsters.again!"

  • "The worst birthday/dining experience I've ever had. My original review was so long, I didn't have enough characters to finish off what I had to say, so here's the updated version. We felt ignored, embarrassed, closterphobic and went home hungry."

  • "This is a stop for us every year we are in Chicago. It is always the best oyster crab legs and cocktails. A must !!"

  • "An annual tradition for me and a friend or friends. Have been to the restaurant many times and always enjoyed. Service is very attentive. The Lobster Fest held during July is a great value."

  • "We originally wanted to go for the amazing brunch but were unable to make the timeline so we went for dinner. We ordered sushi for an app and the crab fingers. Sushi was very good, crab fingers not so much they lacked flavor. We had the seafood platter which included scallops, shrimp, and crab cakes for an entrée. They split the food for us on separate plates and allowed us to share the meal at no extra charge. Most excellent service. He gave us honest opinions of the food instead of just saying everything on the menu is good like most servers do. And he was very knowledgeable of the menu. We were running late for a movie and he was able to settle out check promptly. Definitely worth going to!"

  • "Have been enjoying Shaw's since the '80s - entertaining clients and dinners with hubby. I am never disappointed. Food is always great - this time I had lobster thermidor - Mmmmm. Husband had simply prepared swordfish - said it was great, not dried out like some can be. Dinner was nicely paced, not rushed. Ambience is great - never feels like the brass and glass of every other restaurant."

  • "Our server offered to split multiple dinners in order for each of us at the table to experience more delicious seafood items. So very fresh, and very tasty. Pretty expensive, but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Went to Shaw's 7/6 for the 1st time. Service there is outstanding from the bartender to our waiter. Food is fresh recommend if u like oysters go to oyster bar. Everyday between certain time oysters are half off. Over priced otherwise portions not big. Would I go back? no. good to check out though to form own opinion of."

  • "My wife and I have dined at Shaw's for many years, and each time has been a wonderful experience! The oysters are always exceptional, and we loved the lobster cocktail and the soft shell crabs! We never end the evening without savoring a piece of Shaw's signature key lime pie; it's the best!"

  • "Some of the freshest, most delicious oysters we’ve ever eaten. With such great oysters at such low prices, you may be tempted to make a meal out of happy hour. We did. But how often are you actually done with work before 6 pm anyways, right? Two kinds of toppings accompanied the oysters, the classic cocktail sauce and horseradish mix, and a champagne infused ice with shallots and pepper. The champagne infused ice added sophisticated, floral notes to the oyster. Mmmm."
