My brother and I took our mom there for their Sunday Brunch to celebrate Mother's Day. My wonderful mom really enjoyed her self. The food was fantastic and delicious!! Their apple French toast was amazing!!! If I had any room left I would have gone up for seconds and thirds of the stuff. There was a wide variety of Shaw's cold and warm seafood dishes along with a meat carving station, waffle station, and make your own omelet complete with lobster. I would definitely good back for their brunch again!! My first experience was not very good at all, but this time far exceeded expectations. We arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reservation but they accommodated us upon arrival, server was friendlier, wait staff was alert and speedy with water refills and table clean ups (from 6 year old's crumbs), and the food was amazing. High praise indeed from someone whose favorite dish is crab legs and who has had crab legs at some of the finest restaurants in the U.S. She, as I, has high expectations as to food quality and freshness. I had the Club Room Combination (shrimp, scallops, filet mignonette) and we had a side of sautéed garlic spinach. My meal was perfectly prepared and out of this world. The service at both are great, but the service at the dining room was exceptional. Our every need was quickly attended to and we were treated like royalty. The food was delicious. My husband had the tuna steak and said it was the best he's ever had. We enjoyed the harvest salad and really liked the triple layer chocolate cake we finished with. The oyster bar is a lively room where you can sit at the bar or at a pub table and get a quick bite and a great drink. The main room has that knd of "Sinatra" kind of flair, and the service is impeccible. everything on the menu is delicious. It is pricey, which is why going to Shaw's is a "special occassion only spot "for us .5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceWe had our first wedding anniversary at Shaw's this past Saturday night and it was a perfect evening (with the exception of the loud bachelor party that was a couple of tables away from us, but they left eventually). The food was great and worth the price, Francisco was friendly and Chris was an excellent waiter. Both were very attentive and provided excellent service. Shaw's even provided us with a desert on the house for our annivesary. This restaurant has some of the best fresh seafood in Chicago. We ordered oysters to start and all were delicious. My fiance always gets the stone crab and I, King Crab. We did the same tonight and were not disappointed at all. We usually do not order dessert but the couple eating next to us recommended the Peppermint Ice Cream and it was the best thing we ate. I highly recommend that for a nice treat at the end of a great meal. Every need was anticipated and met by the staff. My husband had the best crab he has ever had in his life and we've dined on both coasts in Canada. I had a wonderful Red Snapper with an amazing red wine sauce. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was huge and reasonabley priced. The lobster bisque was divine. The raspberry pie was OK but the creme brulee was again the best my husband had ever had. Although we had reservations they told us that unfortunately they were running 30min behind on their reservations. Not a problem here, we grabbed a drink at the bar where I was quite impressed by their selection of single malt scotches. After a couple of those (we were celebrating after all) we were seated at a lovely table. The volume was on the loud side, but due to the wood paneling it was kept to a white noise so it was very easy to talk to my mother. Although seated close to other couples we didn't feel as though we were intruding on their conversations. The food was fantastic.
