Shanahan's Steakhouse36th Anniversary CelebrationHad a wonderful time on Saturday night. The food was terrific, as always. BUT, the highlight was the service. Server RYAN was outstanding. A real gem. Pleasant, attentive without hovering, and knowledgeable about menu items for making suggestions. We will be back again, perhaps for the concert series. We dined in one of the enclosed rooms, which we really like because it helps with the noise level.

We dined early but even as the place filled up, noise level was relatively low. Three of us shared the mussels appetizer and the chopped salad and both were delicious. The seeded crust bread in the bread basket was addictive. We ordered from the short list of entrees which included a side with the meat. 6oz filet with potato croquet was perfectly done. If you don't mind ordering chicken at a steakhouse, the roasted half chicken was excellent and came in a cast iron casserole dish with a very generous serving of herbed potatoes, asparagus, and artichoke hearts. The Dungeness Crab Cocktail, the Lobster Bisque, the French Onion Soup, and both our 8 and 12 ounce filets were absolutely superb! Our waiter was outstanding, assisting us in navigating through the wine list and menu. By far, one of the most knowlegeable servers we have ever had, to the point of even being aware of the time our entrees were to be served. That was a first. I did find the noise level a little higher than expected with what appeared to be more activity by the staff than was necessary. If the rest of the desserts are equal to the dark chocolate cake, then no one should ever leave without sampling at least one of them. Each birthday guest got a hand signed birthday card and a fabulous piece of cake. Escargot was delicious, lobster bisque good but rich. They give a shot of sherry with the bisque if you want to reduce the richness. We had steak and lamb chops. Meat was perfectly seasoned one steak ordered med rare came out almost med well and was sent back. The replacement steak was rare rather than Med rare but since we needed to get to a show we didn't ask for a correction. They did replace the sides we had ordered when the steak went back.
