  • "We have been so busy that we had not taken the time to drive to Shalimar. We are thrilled that we revisited them as they never fail to please. Great food, service, atmosphere, and back on our must go there list."

  • "Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent: my 'medium' Punjabi masala was just the right spicyness, although could have been a little hotter temperature-wise."

  • "Love the food, always tastes great. Making a reservation online was a great idea because the place was pretty busy"

  • "This is our favorite Indian restaurant in the area. Great meal for vegetarians. highly recommended."

  • "Delicious, flavorful food and quick service are the hallmarks of this Indian restaurant. Not unusual to see Indian families dining here. Noise level can be pretty high, tables a bit crowded. I recommend requesting a booth, perfect for 4. More upscale than most Indian restaurants."

  • "I own a bookstore and for the first time took an author to dinner here - we both loved the food, it was quiet enough to actually talk and while the waiter was somewhat imperious he gave us good service."

  • "We ordered the chicken Tiki with rice Naan. The food arrived sizzling hot after a very short wait. The food was was delicious!!! The waitstaff was always available and our water glasses were never empty. We enjoyed the friendliness of the employees, too!!"

  • "Servings are huge. I ordered an appetizer for dinner and even that was a lot of food. Everything we tried (vegetarian) was excellent. The only problem was paying the bill. Everyone was so busy that we could find no waiter or person in charge at the cash-out area which is right in the front of the restaurant where everyone else was coming in."

  • "The restaurant is good, but more expensive and smaller portions compared to other Indian restaurants. You're basically paying for main street location and ambiance."

  • "I have been to Shalimar multiple times and each time it is better than I remember. I have not had a thing on the menu that I wasn't floored by."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor, hands down. The food is EXCELLENT and I can't say enough good things about it. For me, the taste of something is everything. The service is okay....not the best and not the worst. They know me and my family now so I think they give us time to chat and prolong our night. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants an AWESOME meal with an authentic indian taste."

  • "We ordered the food mid because my husband doesn't care for spicy but it was still too spicy for him but the rest of us loved it! He did love the tandoori chicken. My daughter and I loved all the spices and different tastes. We also enjoyed the chai tea. It was delicious! The service was very good."

  • "The waiter was honest to come back and inform that the gratuity was already added to the bill when I put a 30 $ tip in the bill. Not at all common to see that quality."

  • "One of our favorite restaurants. Food and service are always great!"

  • "The food was ok. I have been to Shalimar before and the food was great! However, this time the food seemed to be a bit sloppy, and sitting out for a bit. The service was rushed and mildly impatient. I would go back, but only when I crave Indian food."

  • "The overall meal was quite good. The food was great and it came out quickly. The service was not stellar. It felt like we were a burden on the server. But, they were not rude or unattentive, just a little unfriendly."

  • "Very good Indian food, pleasant atmosphere, capable servers, and moderate prices. What's not to like?"

  • "The food was quite good; the service wasn't as good. A bit slow and not very friendly."

  • "Never been to India, but the local East Indian people say it's pretty authentic, especially if, as a non-Indian, you ask for your entree "Indian spicy." Great tandoori dishes, and the samosas are the best I've eaten since my days in East Africa, 30 years ago."

  • "Nice relaxed place. The food was perfect, would definitely come again with family"

  • "We've been eating at Shalimar several times a year for 6 years now and have never had a bad meal. They even pay attention to spice-level requests. At other places when I've requested mild, I've gotten either still-too-spicy food or totally tasteless food. Here they bring me delicious, well-spiced dishes that don't burn my (admittedly very sensitive) tongue off. The rest of my family likes their food moderate to spicy, and always get exactly what they request. We can heartily recommend the chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, lamb vindaloo, chicken saag, veggie mixed appetizers... and more. It's often busy and can be hard to get into, but worth the wait!"

  • "Been to Shalimar every time we visit Ann Arbor. Best Indian food around. But...they seem to be unable to handle a full restsurant seating. Our food was long coming, not hot (temperature) and the waitstaff made excuses. When we complained, our waiter finally brought a second serving of Murgh that was, indeed, up to standard. The problem with Shalimar is that, when they are on their game, their food is outstanding...and when they're bad...well then they're just like any other Asian restaurant!"
