Shab Row Bistro & Wine BarA Shab Row GemWe enjoyed a wonderful dinner and bottle of Sancerre at this great little restaurant. The scenic view is not great, but the ambiance inside is very nice, the service friendly, and the food excellent. I had the scallops and my husband had the trout. Especially nice was the unique Caesar salad. It was a good choice and we will visit again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service!Shab Row in Frederick, MD as a whole is artsy and feels very bohemian, and yet classic. Shab Row Bistro & Wine Bar fits perfectly with the beautiful china, the well done, thoughtful, and freshly prepared food, rich french pressed coffee, fresh hot mini scones to begin, and excellent, polite service. We came for Mother's Day brunch, with none of us having come before. Parking was easy enough between street and the parking in rear, and with the park next to the restaurant it would be a pleasure to wait, or in our case to go sit and continue the conversation and socializing after the meal. The only caution is that portion sizes are on the small side, but otherwise you should definitely check this place out!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommend! We drove to this restaurant from Ellicott City for my birthday dinner and was extremely impressed! Every wine we tried was fantastic, the food was amazing, the wait staff so impressive and attentive, and ambiance perfect. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, drinks &Outstanding food, drinks & service! What a great place!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the best dinnersThis was one of the best dinners we have had recently. Actually, it was quite fantastic! The waiter was perfect and very knowledgeable, the menu had a good variety of choices. Having the wine shop on site makes picking out your wine a bit of fun, rather than just pointing to a name on a list (although you can do that, too, if you don't want to get up from your table to look through the shelves). We had a guest with us from Boston and he raved about his meal. Kudos to the chef!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMJoyful Food!My husband and I had a very enjoyable dinner this past Saturday. We found the food adventurous and approachable. I loved that we could hear eachother converse and the seating offered personal space. The staff was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. The restaurant itself has an open feel with exposed brick. The wine list is innovative and you can purchase selections in the back of the store to enjoy at home. We dine a lot in Bethesda and it was nice to have a creative meal without stollers and kids monopolizing the scene. You'll leave saying..."what a great experience". Thank you for having black napkins!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a place that I thinkThis is a place that I think is still a little unknown compared to the usual suspects around Frederick. A creative and thoughtful chef (who has a good future we believe), attentive waitstaff. The bar is part of the restaurant which is a bit of a downside because of the high noise level. One in our party has some hearing issues and unfortunately missed out on much of our table's conversation due to a group at the bar located next to our table. The layout of the place doesn't really allow much chance to get too far from that kind of noise. Try the duck on the menu right now--it is AMAZING, and most items are as commendable.Great drink and nice wine menu as well. Recommend, but hope it doesn't become TOO hard to get in!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly really complaint wasOnly really complaint was the noise level. Not good for a romantic date or first date if you are trying to hold an intimate conversation.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Brunch - still hungryTwo of us ordered Steak & Eggs for brunch. It was very good; however, my son said he was still hungry. I was surprised that it didn't come with toast (just steak & eggs and small amount of hash browns.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, smallish portionsThe quality of the food preparation is excellent, it is really delicious!
4 stars vs. 5:
My husband ordered the scallops which were incredibly delicious but they were (beautifully) plated with sweet potato frites cut to the exact size as the scallops and appeared to be scallops. A portion that looked like 8 or 9 scallops, was really 4 or 5 scallops. He was disappointed.
One of the owners or possibly a manager was smoking right outside of the door when we entered and exited. Simply unpleasant for a non-smoker.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot! The food and the service were excellent! Will definitely go back.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed SRB.We thoroughly enjoyed SRB. Food and menu were excellent, service outstanding, and the bar really knows what they're doing.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of heaven inA little bit of heaven in Frederick. Try the escargot for a change!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal, but pricey..We had a great meal here! Service was prompt. Wine list is extensive. Prices are a bit steep, but we enjoyed our meal! Given the prices, we will return, but more for a special occasion meal.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disaapointing. new menuNever disaapointing. new menu is wonerful and wine tasting was superb.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had their tasting menuWe had their tasting menu with wine pairings and loved it.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFABULOUS!!We LOVE this restaurant!!! I look forward to try something different each time we dine there. We have NEVER been disappointed, the food is fabulous and creative. The wait staff are always helpful and courteous. This restaurant really is a neighborhood gem!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWorld class dining in Fredrick,World class dining in Fredrick, MD? Yes, it's true! That's what Shab Row is all about.xsecond time there and the eclectic, menu and inventive cooking just knock your socks off.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place - new favoriteWe really loved this restaurant. This was our second trip and on both occasions we were surprised by how good the food was, and how it wasn't as crowded as it should have been given the quality of the service, drinks, and the food. It's a little hidden from the main strip since it is on Shab Row, and not on Market Street, which might explain why it wasn't totally packed when we left at 10PM on a Friday night, as it should have been, IMHO.
This has to be our new favorite restaurant in Frederick. We expect to become semi-regulars.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
