First, the place is much bigger than it appears from the outside, and each level has its own vibe, for sure. All of them are amazing. Great sushi (the waiter recommended the Firecracker roll - it didn't disappoint!) The Trinity wings were incredible. My wife ate the Yakatori chicken with a great salad and she was very pleased, which is half the battle as any husband knows.... The rooftop dining was highlighted by the DJ spinning house music with Walter Chancellor playing sax over it (Friday Nights). It felt like we were extras in a movie scene. Overall it's a vibe you don't typically get in Mpls, and we live here, so that's a legit comment! Don't know what those reviews were about water / ice - ours was refilled faster than we could drink it. Server was great and very personable. Wine list was reasonable and nice choices. Steaks were good but will probably order medium next time - medium rare was more rare (and the same was with the others at the table). I have been to all the great steakhouses around the twin Cities and other cities, Seven is my favorite. The menu is great and the service is even better. We have never had a bad dining experience. She went above and beyond her job description for us, which was totally unexpected, yet very appreciated! Only minor complaint was after I reserved reservation online, I received an email stating that if I didn't indicate seating preference then to call. I called to ask to be seated in the sushi area. When I arrived, I was let to the steak area. I called and said I wanted to eat at the sushi level and they still had confusion at the hostess desk. At the sushi level there was a private event so the hostess was busy-we had to wait about 5 minutes before anyone noticed us. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. We ordered sushi- I got the california roll deliberately for the avocado-but when it came there was no avocado. I didn't tell the waiter- the sushi already took long enough. Since I had called in about the birthday I was thinking they would offer a desert and the waiter didn't say anything. When he noticed the presents later he payed for the birthday persons drink which was nice. I brought 2 associates from Germany to the restaurant on a Thursday evening. We started by having a beer on the roof at the Skybar. There was plenty of comfortable seating and you could tell it was the place to be for a drink after work.
We then went downstairs to the Steakhouse. The waiter was fantastic. When he stopped by the table to discuss the different steak options, my German associate's eyes were as large as dinner plates as they were introduced to the different selections on the menu. One of them, who typically doesn't eat steak, ended up ordering a suggested cut, and wasn't disappointed.

Half of our group ordered from the Sushi menu while the other from the Steakhouse and all were very pleased and satisfied with their meals. The beverages were also deliciously made which helped to kick our night on top. The service was mediocre at best as it seemed that all servers and managers were simply running around. The bus boy provided the best service as he was friendly and alert and catered to each table. Our server only stopped by to take our drink over and give us the check making us feel like we were not a priority. The whole place has an easy going positive vibe w/ upscale appointments. Not stuffy, but very nice! Our steaks were perfectly cooked to order w/ a seafood sauce that was amazing. Sushi appetizer was wonderful and side orders were fantastic. The bar tender mixed special request drinks and did a fabulous job! The waiter presented a lovely dessert (that we didn't ask for-didn't charge us for-saying "Happy birthday from me. I hope you've had a wonderful evening.") that was light and amazing in its own right. Our service was impeccable! It is notable that all of the staff truly seem happy to be there and enjoy one another. I the reviews were good, but the restaurant exceeded our expectations and we will definately go back. The service was friendly, professional and well-paced. We never felt rushed, but everything was there on time. We selected the steak and walleye and both were well prepared and very tastey. The white wine mussels and ceasar salad starters were high qaulity and nicely presented. Vegetables were done just right. We were seated on the steakhouse level(main floor) and spotted a local celebrity from The Voice as I pointed out to my parents Seven is one of your best bets for celebrity spotting in Minneapolis. The food was so good, everyone was in love with their sushi and seafood. I had a ribeye which was okay...but the highlight for me was the fries and Mac and Cheese.
