Horrible service, waitress ignored us while she was texting and screaming on her cell phone in the server corner. However, the food was excellent, atmosphere was very comfortable, and it was quiet so I will be going there again.

This restaurant has outstanding food. This visit we did the tasting menu and each course was an excellent combination of tastes. My dinner here reminded me of dining at Charlie Trotter's (but at a much lower cost).

I love Seven Ocean and even more since they altered the menu from its original state to offer more a la carte options and still offer the 7 course prix fixe for a reasonable $75. The food is perfectly portioned, innovative without being off-putting and the service is always wonderful.

This place is near where we live and so we've gone there several times. It has not been doing well. It opened as a Prix Fixe restaurant with Asian style food that was really excellent but never drew a crowd. It has now morphed into a more standard type of Thai restaurant but is a notch ahead of the best neighborhood Thai restaurants. Prices have dropped dramatically and now competitive price-wise with neighborhood Thai restaurants but the food is better. Highly recommended.

This is an undiscovered gem in the heart of Oak Park! My husband and I stumbled upon it as it has a very low profile from the exterior, but now have been back twice within a month and are planning to go as often as possible. The decor is subtle but classy, wait staff did an impeccable job, and the food was amazing! I had Basil Salmon which was rich in flavor, perfectly sized and prepared, and value priced. A wonderful twist of Asian flavors. Loved it!

Food, service and ambiance was outstanding. However, it was empty which is a bit awkward. Music should be turned down a bit so as to keep it in background. They should create a cocktail menu in order to feature their quaint bar. They should take out the word "fried" on their menu ...it turns people off. I hope this place makes it and I will recommend to all!

The food was excellent. The quality, creativity and freshness were top notch. The presentation is also great. The portions are not huge, but quite adequate. This was my second time and I was impressed both times. I will definitely return. I will say the menu continues to be a little too limited. It either needs more choices or more frequent changes. It is also slightly pricy which will make it difficult for for some to justify. The wine selections are good and reasonably priced, but the choices, too, are limited. Overall, the area needs a truly quality restaurant and Seven Oceans is one.

Oak Park is lucky to have Seven Ocean. I only hope more people discover this gem. We ate there with friends on a recent Saturday night. Three of us had the price fix dinner and every dish was outstanding. The meal was as good or better than I have had recently, including at more popular restaurants. I am a big fan of several Oak Park restuarants, but this is the best meal I have ever had in Oak Park in 14 years. In additiona, the wines were excellent and well paired. The flavors were well balanced and the portions were perfect. I highly, highly reccommend this place.

This was our second time at Seven Ocean and we were happy to see that some of the things we had the first time were still on the menu, but there were also some changes to prices and options. We ordered three starters (coconut soup, lobster gyoza and chicken satay) and had the short rib and duck as entrees and were full! Great wine pairings available as well. People should really stop-in and give this place a try because every dish is well-designed and the service is A plus!

Went their for Anniversary. Was very pleasantly suprized at how good the food was. The 7 course Pri Fixe menu was supurb with each course outdoing the last. The portion size was plenty to fill you up but not make you overly full. I would recommend it to anyone who likes asian food with a twist, and wants a relaxing dinner. I think this restaurant will become very popular soon.

Definitely a place to go for a special occasion. The prix fixe menu changes about every 3 months, but some old favorites remain on the entree menu. I would definitely recommend getting the prix fixe dinner with the wine paring. Our 12 year old daughter came with us and it was fine, but I would not recommend the restaurant for kids much younger than that.

We had the 4 course meal and wine from the winelist. The wine and the food were excellent. It looked small when it was put in front of you, at the beginning we thought we'd be stopping for pizza on our way home but we were comfortable full after the meal. The edaname soup was the best pea soup I've ever had. The only downside to the food was the chilli pepper that was on one of the courses which I nibbled the end of and it burned really bad. I'm not sure why it was there because it wasn't possible to eat it. The restaurant was quiet, there were 2 other tables when we got there but they left early in our meal and we were the only ones there which was a little uncomfortable. The service was great. Recommended for a special occasion.

If this restaurant were in the city, you would pay twice as much for your meal. My partner and I were surprised to find this chic, contemporary restaurant in the heart of downtown Oak Park. We went with friends a few weeks later and were pleasantly surprised. The ambience is very spa-like, the food, Asian influence was delicious. We started with appetizers goyza, soup and tune tar-tar, that were out of this world. For dinner, three of us had the white fish and one the short ribs, and all were pleased with their selections. Service needs to improve. We were in the only one's in the restaurant on a Saturday night and service was slow, and when we asked for our check it took them 15 minutes to bring the check. Overall, check this place out!!!

I had read other reviews and was prepared for the "small" sizes of the dishes; however I found them to be more than enough and by the end of the seven courses I was completely full. The food was great, the staff was great. As a few others have noted the acoustics are a little strange; depending on where you are you either have to speak up or you can hear a lot of other conversations around you. This is a really good restaurant, it was quite empty when we went. I hope people give it a chance as Oak Park doesn't have a lot in the way of fine dining and this deserves to stay.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 2/11/2012
The fixe prixe multi-course dining experience is new for the Oak Park area, so those unfamiliar with this type of menu should be patient and realize the portions are small, and the wait between courses can seem long. A la carte items have recently been added to the menu, which should satisfy those uncomfortable with 7 courses! Dishes were artfully prepared. All delightful, with a couple hitting home runs (lobster-stuffed gyoza and the tiger shrimp were personal favorites). I would recommend this restaurant particularly for special occasions, as the contemporary ambiance and attentive service enhance the dining experience and make the occasion quite enjoyable.

Food was outstanding, and lovely to look at. I saw notes complaining about quantity. Two in our party had the 7 course prix fixe; one had the four course. [There are a la carte offerings as well.] For us, the quantity was ample. Not enough perhaps for those who want Five Brother megaburgers and double fries, but more than enough. The 4 glasses of wine accompanying the 7 course meal was excellent. The 4 course person ordered wine by the glass. Service was excellent, with as much conversation about the food as we wanted. This was a special occasion meal for us, and it was just that. We went during Superbowl, so we can't judge the noise level when full.
