    We are on the southwest corner of Connecticut Avenue and R Street, two blocks north of Dupont Circle (formerly the location of the Janus movie theaters). Sette Osteria next to G-Star/ Benetton.

A word from Sette Osteria
Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, and with a great "feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.

r />Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.

The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores Benetton and Sisley.

  • "I went for brunch to Sette Osteria this weekend. Had never been there before so I was not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by excellent service and great brunch fare. I really enjoyed it. The went in when they opened around 11am and it was pretty empty but 30 minutes in it was bustling with people. In addition, the place is very open and you have a great view of the surrounding DuPont circle area. Really enjoyed it and will definitely check it out again."

  • "I had dinner here the night before my first half marathon (I wanted to carbo-load on pasta!) The food was excellent. Our waiter recommended the basil-pasta, which was a homemade basil-infused pasta, served with tomatoes, eggplant and onion. It was delicious. Their calamari appetizer is also very good. I also tried some of their gelato dessert - I especially loved the vanilla flavor! We went pretty early, but this place gets busy, so it is a good idea to make a reservation. Also, the location near Dupont circle is very convenient."

  • "I went out to eat here the night before I ran my first half-marathon to carbo-load. The food was delicious, and our waiter was excellent. He recommended the Basil-pasta (homemade), and it was yummy, filling, yet also light. I also split the calamari appetizer and bruchetta plate, which were also delicious. I finished the meal with the gelato trio, which was a great ending to the meal. This restaurant had ample outdoor seating and is very close to the Dupont circle metro stop."

  • "We sat outside for brunch on a lovely spring day. The waitstaff was extremely slow to take our orders, even though the restaurant was largely empty. We ordered multiple bloody Marys throughout the meal and there was a very wide range of results. The first Bloody Marys to arrive were very small and somewhat watered down. As the meal progressed, the drinks got bigger and bigger until they were fullsized. The food was fine but nothing to write home about."

  • "Food and waitress were great. But my gf and I were basically being run over by patrons and other servers because they over-packed the floor. Better spacing would have made this a solid four star rating, and I'm sure it is at least that in the Spring and Summer when you can seat people outside."

  • "First time visit - service, food, and ambience were just OK. Service was slow. Food was quick but arrived cold - including eggs and toast. - no butter, no jam for the toast either. When we finally tracked down the waitrress, she seemed annyoed to have to heat the toast and bring butter and jam. Wow .... A real let down. Very kid friendly - if that's what you want. Otherwise, pick another location. Therestaurant was not full so could have been relocated to another table if the waitress ever showed up. Get the impression that no on really cared whether food, service or ambience were good. Guess they'll get business regardless because of location but not from me. Don't think I'd to out of my way to go to Sette Osteria again. Sorry."

  • "We were a large party that trickled in at different times throughout the span of an hour, and switched seating throughout our meal. The service was great. Everyone received their food and drink in a VERY timely manner, and the waiters remembered exactly who had ordered what. Very personable staff, good food, relaxed environment, and manageable prices. Would definitely recommend to a friend."

  • "The mussels, celery root soup, and linguine with seafood in a tomato sauce were good, but everything else was fair to mediocre. The bruschetta appetizer was extremely bland and boring, as was the Caesar salad: the lettuce was tasteless and lacking in crunch. The Contadina pizza lacked smokiness and that the eggplant was poorly cooked. The fettucini alfredo was extremely bland and boring; and the gorgonzola-mozzarella pizza came out way too hot and with a soggy crust. We ate inside, and we usually sit outside. Inside, the TVs were distracting and the music was too loud,. We have been to Sette before and have had much better meals and service. This is the only reason why we would return after this abysmal meal."

  • "Food is good not amazing, but the pasta is more reasonably priced here compared to most other Italian restaurants. I had the basil pasta with eggplant and mozzarela. The pasta is a bit thick and heavy, but the dish has good overall flavor. Location is a plus. The service was pleasant."

  • "Great food, amazing authentic tastes with full range of anitpasti, appetizers, pasta and sauces, and other entrees. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. But the service was lacking. Our server was never outwardly hostile, but he made it clear he'd rather be doing something other than waiting on us. He acted put out that we wanted to order appetizers before placing our order for entrees. After he took our order, we never saw him again. Someone from the kitchen brought the food, and someone from the bar brought our ticket. We served our own wine and water. Still a fun place with great food though."

The food was worth the wait, though everything was a bit on the salty side. All in all a solid day-to-day place, but nothing special and not worth a reservation by any means."

  • "This restaurant has never let me down. My wife and I did one of our smaller receptions for our wedding at Sette and we were not let down. They provided have great entrees, tasty starters, and some of the best desserts in DC. Their cavatelli is absolutely amazing. I recommend everyone to try it."

  • "We went as a group of 6 for brunch. All members of the group opted for the bottomless brunch and the waiters were very quick with the refills. The waiter was also very nice making several jokes with the table and making it a very pleasant atmosphere. I ordered the Norwegian Eggs Benedict. It may not be the very best brunch food I have ever tried but it was still very good and I would not hesitate to order it again. The rest of the table seemed to enjoy their meal also. The price was normal for brunch. I would recommend this place to others and will be back there again."

The service was not, I asked for angel hair pasta as a side and the waitress was rude and she looked disappointed to go get back another bowl. I know it was valentines day and we were a big group but i expect a friendly staff for service."

  • "After reading multiple reviews about so-so food and service I was nervous, however, I had a very positive experience. The food was delicious (my friend and I each ordered one of the homemade pasta dishes) and our service was attentive. We did wait at the bar for our table even with reservations, however, we had arrive about 15 minutes early and were seated about 20 minutes after arrival. We ordered the Valentine's Day special dessert which was fantastic. We also really enjoyed that they validate your parking in the valet garage right next door anytime after 7pm (this was especially helpful given that the metro stop across the street is closed at the present moment)"

  • "This time my experience was so so for me and my friends. I took the risotto of the day which had no taste, no seasoning was watery and the rice seemed boiled, the scallops however were cooked beautifully. My friend's gnocchi was good but over sauced but my other friend's seafood pasta was not hood and he left it almost unbeaten. Our appetizers were delicious. We told our server and the manager that it is not usually like this and she said she will check with the chef who sent us a Tiramisu with our desserts. The service was very good and efficient. I still like it but they have to pay attention to the consistency of the food quality and listen to feedback."

  • "I was not blown away by Sette Osteria, the decor/ambiance was casual (casual can be good, but it reminded me of my college dining hall). Pastas are good, but other entrees aren't that great. The sauce on my friend's salmon was thin and bland. Desserts were ok, they didn't have a wow factor. Overall, food was ok (just be sure to get the pastas). The worst part of our experience was the service. Our server mumbled the whole time we were being served. She also attempted to make a joke to our friend about her being late for our reservation. The delivery of the joke was awkward and it was just kind of distasteful. However the manager DID check up on us as well which is a nice plus. I wouldn't recommend this place for dinner, just lunch."

  • "If it were solely about the food, I would recommend this restaurant, but the decor is institutional and lacking in warmth, the tables are too close together, and the server lacked training. I had to spell "kir" and explain what it is, my request for espresso got a blank stare until I repeated it twice as espresso coffee, and the salmon did not come out medium rare as requested."

  • "It's all good, but we like the basic dishes the best, especially the fresh pastas. I had spaghetti with lava beans, accompanied by a robust chianti, delightful, and a perfect portion size -- not too big. Began by sharing fried calamari with a spicy tomato dipping sauce, and ended by sharing a ricotta cheesecake, plus a limoncello. Good prices, we come here often, and will keep coming back."

  • "Always love Sette. Although on this particular evening, it was quite crowded. Our table for 2 was shoved up against a pole and awkwardly placed. I felt like we were constantly in the way as waiters rushed by the entire meal. So it wasn't the most relaxing meal, but it is one of my favorites and I will definitely return."

  • "I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time it was awesome. The pizza was very close to the real Roman deal (I lived there for a long time so I know the real deal), but this time around my pizza was overdone and dry. My dad's vitello tonnato, which is his favorite childhood dish from when he grew up in Italy, was with arugula and barely any tuna--shameful really. The calamari was great and so were the other pizzas the people in our party had this time around, so overall I would go back again and maybe venture out of the pizzas and try the gnocchi, which my hubby got the first time we went and they were awesome. I would say maybe I just got unlucky this time around. The place is loud so good for kids and crowds but not a couple."
