A word from Sette Osteria
Sette is Italian for seven, the traditional "lucky" number. The restaurant design is comfortable with a traditional Italian tone, and with a great "feel and flow." Sette Osteria is a destination place for people as well as a place for people walking in the area to come in and enjoy.

r />Decor: Sette Osteria has an open kitchen and an action station viewable by guests. Pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning pizza oven.

The best decor in a restaurant is people. Windows give guests a view of the active passing scenes on busy Connecticut Avenue and R Streets. And, people walking by are able to view a very inviting and appealing restaurant. The decor is soft and appealing but still carries a theme of sophisticated Italian culture and international buzz. Guests can view the young people going in and out of the chic clothing stores Benetton and Sisley.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had an outstanding meal. My husband and I had the burrata salad special, which was delicious. Ditto for the short-rib ravioli special and the linguine with clams. Both the food and the service were wonderful. We will definitely return."

  • "Good place after a long day of museums--including the Phillips Collection, which is right around the corner. Happy Hour at the bar was fabulous. Nice bartender and great selection of food at very good prices; beer choices somewhat limited. We could have eaten dinner at the bar and been satisfied. Moved to outdoor seating for the "real" dinner. It had been a rainy day and the outdoor seating was still very pleasant and quiet. Nice stemware and linens, varied menu, including a couple of vegan choices. Food OK, nothing memorable. Service very pleasant but hard to get a check. This is a moderately priced restaurant with locals enjoying a quiet dinner. Not dying to go back, but I wouldn't rule it out if I were in the area."

  • "3 people including and Italian from Brooklyn and a long islander - who all know good Italian had dinner. Won't go back unless it's for pizza. The pasta- all three mains- were awful. Service outside was spotty. That being said nice al fresco dining location"

  • "I found Sette Osteria on a random search for DC's Summer Restaurant Week. And I am so thankful that I did! It is conveniently placed (very close to Dupont Metro), amazing food, great service, and perfect for outdoor dining (which is my favorite - especially on a perfect evening, like we had). I would highly recommend! Because it was Restaurant Week, the place was very busy and we did have to wait for food between courses... but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Portions are a very good size! And the regular menu is large."

  • "We ste outside on an unseasonably pleasant August evening. The food was good and fun. yhe pumpkin ravioli with sage butter was the best."

  • "The inside dining area seemed much more energetic/lively and my party sat out on the patio. Was very peaceful and easy to have a conversation among all the hustle and bustle around us. Delicious charcuterie variety and the house made past was fantastic! Definitely going to visit again."

  • "We have been here many times and have always found the food and the service to be good. This place is not as "upscale" as the Italian place across the street - but we have always had good service here, which we cannot say for the other place."

  • "Hadn't been to Sette Osteria for years and thought 8 PM on a Wednesday evening would be a good time to revisit it. Wrong. The place was packed with young people and families with children. Fortunately, most apparently wanted to sit outside, so I got a nice table near the bar. Ordered from the daily specials list -- ham & melon followed by a skirt steak pizza -- and was very happy. Service was as attentive as a solo diner on a busy night could expect. I will return to try some of the enticing items from the regular menu."

  • "Sette has great pizza - love the crust - and pasta used to make classic lasagna was thin and light."

  • "Meeting with clients and didn't realize this is more informal and a bit loud. However, we were all pleasantly surprised that we got a table that actually was quiet. Service was excellent, as were her recommendations for drinks and food. And the food was the biggest surprise - very tasty and a super variety on the menu."

  • "We chose this restaurant for a quick visit with friends. I was a bit nervous about choosing a place I knew nothing about. They greeted us and we were seated instantly (even though we were 10 min. early). The outside dining looked inviting with a great covering and overhead fans but we chose to eat inside. All of the meals were delicious except for the alfredo - it was a bit bland but a bit of marinara sauce spiced it up! We would definitely choose to eat here again. Great location - just off Dupont Circle. You will not be disappointed."

  • "There are several Italian restaurants in Dupont Circle, but my favorites are Sette, Darlington House, and I Ricci. By far these are the best ones in the area and should be the first ones you go to. Sette has fantastic outside seating that should be enjoyed on nice days and evenings."

  • "Brunch is my absolute favorite meal and Sette Osteria makes is wonderful every time. Bottomless Mimosas and Omelettes with friends are a winning combination and to top it off, Nutella and Facaccia with a double espresso!!! Dining with friends while sitting outside in the Dupont Circle neighborhood just makes the start of a Saturday perfect!"

  • "Great food & service! Can't beat homemade pastas-the gnocchi was excellent. Also, woodfire pizza is delicious. We will keep coming back. Noise was a little loud because of World Cup final, but we expected that and enjoyed the energy."

  • "My boyfriend and I went for another meal at Sette and, as always, loved the experience. This time we sat in their outdoor patio which was lovely given the wonderful summer evening. Sette consistently provides wonderful food and service. We shared a special burrata appetizer they were offering and their mussels napoletana as apps. I followed with the veal piccata while my boyfriend had the filet mignon. Everything was delic. Sette is one of our go-to neighborhood restaurants for a casual yummy meal."

  • "I booked Sette Osteria based on a recommendation from a friend of mine to celebrate my wife's birthday and our upcoming anniversary. Not only was the food delicious, but the manager was fantastic. The manager made sure that we had a nice table outside, brought us champagne with dessert and even comped their delicious dessert as a nice touch to the end of a wonderful meal. I had the skirt steak with truffled french fries and arugula salad. The steak was cooked perfectly. My wife had the ahi tuna which, again, was cooked perfectly. We highly recommend Sette. The food was moderately priced, and the friendliness of the manager and staff can't be beat. Thank you so much for making my wife's birthday so special."

  • "We celebrated my kid's birthday here while we were in town for the 4th of July. They were very accommodating, even when we changed our reservation time ( we really didn't need reservations). They also brought out a dessert with a candle without being asked. The food was great, especially for someone gluten free. We had pizza, pasta and salads. Must try: white chocolate mousse."

  • "The food is true, fresh, varied Italian; no heavy red ketchup sauces here. The dining outside is pleasant urban under large umbrellas; lots of people to watch. The dining inside includes seating at a bar, comfortable tables, and large windows to open up the space. Nice wine list with things you won't find easily elsewhere. The prices are reasonable. Overall, it all fits together in the best way, the sum is greater than any of its parts."

  • "We were amazed at the quality of the home made pasta we had at this restaurant. May have been the best we have ever had, and we dine out very often. Great outdoor seating. Service was exceptional. Wished I lived in the area as we would be visiting them on a regular basis."

  • "We've been going to Sette for years, we love it especially in summer when we can sit on the terrace and enjoy the weather. The food is never disappointing, always yummy and satisfying, without being overwhelming."

  • "There were 2 other people seated at the bar when we arrived so we opted to sit there and watch some World Cup. It took 10 minutes before we were able to flag the bar back down to ask for a glass of water. The bartender then rushed us through our order and asked if we wanted it to go even though we were clearly seated and wanted to eat there. After the food finally got there, we had to ask for bread. Not once did he ask if we were ok. I have been there many times and I was appalled. I would have liked to have stayed for more drinks and even dessert but I refused to waste another dollar of mine on such pathetic service."

  • "Nice "people watching" outdoor dining. Wait staff was friendly & attentive, service was good, and food excellent.Indoor bar area would have been very noisy, but this was a Friday night. As rain storm approached, staff assisted diners to relocate indoors, very easily. We would return and will recommend to others."

  • "Finding a suitable restaurant that can accommodate large groups and has something for everyone is difficult. Sette Osteria is a great spot when hosting a large conference with internationals."

  • "Sette never fails to meet your expectations. I always bring my friends from out of town to Sette. I want them to experience its ambience and relaxing nature in the midst of the hustle and bustle of their conference or meeting. They are always delighted that such a place exists in DC. When you say "Buon Appetito" in Sette, we usually have one! "

  • "The food was "reliably" good, not fantastic; but each of us enjoyed our meals (canneloni, alfredo, bolognese and a special) and our server was friendly and helpful (thought not terribly sophisticated and not quite sufficiently attentive). "

  • "We eat here often and always have a great experience! The lasagna is amazing, the salmon is great, the calzones are gigantic and tasty! The outdoor patio is lovely. I love the olive oil at each table. It's not your every day EVOO! "

  • "We picked the location as it had a good bottomless option and a great patio. The food was fine and the management was friendly and helpful; our waitress on the other hand completely and totally ruined our experience. She was 100% rude from the beginning of service and wanted us to be done as soon as our entrees were cleared. However four of the six of us were partaking in bottomless drinks and, as we had only been there about 90 minutes, we wanted to stay longer. While we sat with our water and drink glasses empty I finally asked a manager to assist us which she did with a smile. However that then made our waitress even more rude as she stormed over to our table and glared at us and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. "

  • "Sitting on the patio and enjoying the view and people was like an Italian movie. The service was attentive and not overbearing. The server knew we were not in a rush and was kind enough to give us time and gave excellent service. Food was sent out quickly and fresh. Everything was delightful. Go and enjoy. "
