A word from Sette Bello
Franco Filippone, owner and Chef of Sette Bello Ristorante, started his career in the restaurant business at the side of his father, after the family emigrated from Palermo, Sicily to open their now historic restaurant in upstate New York. After a long apprenticeship in the family restaurant, Franco relocated to Fort Lauderdale, where he applied his culinary skills at such world class restaurants as The Addison in Boca Raton, Cafe D’ Angelo and the much lauded Casa d’ Angelo in Fort Lauderdale. Now he brings all his many cooking talents to his charming new restaurant, delivering new twists on classic Italian dishes.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Tucked away in a strip mall this restaurant has a truly professional staff, a list of specials that is unending, and delicious food. There is an 80 year old Maître D who livens up the atmosphere going table to table with witty remarks a-la an old Tony Soprano/wannabe godfather type."

  • "Once again Sette Bello delivered. Great food, good ambiance, huge variety. My only comment againt them is the length of the waiter's description of additional menu items. With the easy access to internet, and printers, why not print up a page of daly specials along with prices, and let people read them Half the time you do not remember what the guy said. But Sette Bello, a great find for Italian food lovers. A bit pricey but worth it. Grilles veal chop, not the one on the regular menu, is GREAT. cervelata also fantastic appetizer"

  • "It always amazes me what you will find in a strip mall in FL. Wonderful restaurant with truly excellent food. Everything we ate, from the shrimp appetizer to the veal chop special to the apple dessert was just delicious."

  • "great italian food in the neighborhood. Get the shrimp apt with procuitte wrapped around it to start. Pastas are interesting and the veal very tender and tasty. reasonable wine list that won't break the bank."

  • "We have lived in the neighborhood about 5 years and have seemingly overlooked this place - what a mistake! From the waitstaff to the food we were so pleased! Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back."

  • "This was our first time dining at Sette Bello and we wee not disappointed! The service was great, as was the meal. Extensive wine options and while a bit pricey it was worth every penny. We will be back again someday when we return to southern Florida."

  • "We have been going to Sette Bello since its opening about five years ago. We spend our winters in FL. We love this Restaurant in Pompano, FL.. It's truly a restaurant that uses fresh ingredients. We have never had a bad meal there. The owner/ chef Franco does it right, not only is he a great chef he is personable & friendly, he visits each table to make sure everyone is satisfied. Great menu and great specials each night. His deserts are wonderful and he makes the best Ricotta cheese pie and homemade gelato. The matradee Joe Cadillac is great. Great staff very knowledgeable regarding the food. Our friend from Boston, had the Salmon special he said it was the best he ever had."

  • "First time here. The menu selection of food and specials were great. Everything about my dinner was awesome. The Hostess was very pleasant and checked on me several times. The server was great and helpful w/selections. I will definitely be back on future trips to the area. Highly recommended."

  • "5 of my friends dined there last week. The ambiance was lovely, the service was impeccable. The food was wonderful. My only caveat would be that this is not a restaurant where one would get the usual Italian foods. No lasagna, no ziti. The veal parm was a veal chop parmagiana for $40. So, if you're looking for an atypical Italian menu with great food, this place is it. Recommend reservations."

  • "If you are a foodie this is the place to go. Great menu and wine list. Servers are very professional. Joe, the maitre d' really gas his finger on the pulse of the restaurant . I recommend it often and people return. It's a go to restaurant for me."

  • "I went in planning to have a red sauce Italian meal. I had the stuffed zucchini flower as an appetizer and it was exquisite. I followed up with a lobster pappardelle pasta dish in a clear seafood broth that was superb. Their tort with cinnamon gelato topped off one of the best dinners I've had in S Fl. The chef is a treasure. This restaurant is worth seeking out. I walked away elated that I had a fabulous Italian meal with no red sauce. Next time, which will be soon."

  • "Found this gem on Open Table, doing a map search. Based on reviews, decided to give it a try and so glad we did. Well run restaurant - host, server etc and plenty of staff. Chef would walk out among the guests and came to our table to see how our dinner was, which was a very nice touch. Very welcoming staff. But enough on the service - the food itself was fantastic - my wife and I agreed that my veal chop was the best we could remember ever having. We were a party of six and everyone loved their entree. Also, plenty of off the menu specials. We are not dessert people, but the apple tart with cinnamon gelato is a must. Sette Belllo definitely making it on our restaurant wheel. And will be back soon."

  • "We live near this place--lucky us. it's our go to spot for many things including entertaining guests. Our recent trip here pleased both us and our guests though because the place was crowded--even on a Sunday evening--the kitchen was a bit slow. Since we hadn't seen our guests in a while, we were happy with that since it meant we got longer to catch up and talk. It might not have made others quite so happy. The food, however, waswonderful as always so no complaints."

  • "Food was delicious! Our party of 4 each had different entrees and appetizers which were all great! From the lightly battered calamari to the zucchini flowers and the meatballs everything was delicious! My Chicken Milanese was huge, full of flavor! My husband had the veal parmesan, my son the chicken parmesan, and my other son the penne a la vodka. All were big portions and delicious! We will definitely go back. Make a reservation as it gets crowded quickly."

  • "This rather small Italian restaurant, while serving very good dishes is somewhat overpriced. Salads ran about $12.00 and the special we had was very good but should have cost around $25.00 not in the mid 30 range so just be advised you will spend. We will not dine there again as there are just as good but less expensive in the area."

  • "I have dined at this restaurant many times and have sampled many of the entrees hoping to find something that inspires me. The service staff of this restaurant are always excellent and attentive. The wine list is impressive. While there are many things that are so good, the entrees are large portions that lack seasonings and flavor. I would skip the entrees and order the salads and delicious desserts."

  • "Great find. Open table points and Idine rewards. Not to mention food was very good, reasonable wines. Overall one of the best dining experiences. Attentive staff. Try it."

  • "This was our 2nd trip to Sette Bello and again it did not disappoint. The wine was superb, the stuffed zucchini flowers were incredible and the dinner was amazing. Even after all that we managed to have dessert which was well portioned, simple and delicious. A perfect ending to a perfect evening. They chef does really special things with the meats, seafood and produce that are fresh for the season without overdoing it and trying to be too grandiose. Portion size is realistic and prices are in range with the quality of food, service and preparation. I would recommend this to the snobbiest of "foodies" and I believe they would be hard pressed to find any fault here."

  • "Excited to try this restaurant after a tasting at a wine and food show. Got there early to have a drink but there wasn't a bar so we had to stand outside. Once seated it took some time to get service as it was very crowded on a Saturday night. With all that said, I still highly reccommend Setto Bello for the food. It was amazing. All four of our meals were great. Will definitely return."

  • "We arrived a wee bit early for our reservation this past Saturday. The Maitre'd was not nonplussed and showed us to a booth. We began with a glass of prosecco, crisp and cold. Our waiter was attentive and professional. Our appetizer, the meatball with ricotta and eggplant, was heaven on a plate. The burrata was excellent, though should have been served room temperature, a minor hiccup in an otherwise exquisite dinner. Osso Buco and Chicken Scarpariello were fantastic. The Chef stopped by; lovely. We'll be back ."

  • "This was our second time to the restaurant in the past four weeks. We went back with high expectations base on our first experience, the service and food exceeded those expectations. The grilled calamari was excellent and so was the trout."

  • "Food was good, not excellent. Service was mediocre as well. I feel there are much better Italian restaurants in Broward then here but we will go back, just not jumping at the chance too. I had a scallop pasta that was good, scallops were tough, though pasta was very good. Minestrone soup was fresh and flavorful. I will go back and try some additional dishes."

  • "Chef Franco delivers a truly "Real Italian" Dining Experience, especially on Christmas Eve. I have been a regular from his very first Christmas Eve dinner, and would go nowhere else on this very specialy Christmas holiday. It is designed for Italian's with a heart and remembrance from years past when the whole family was still alive and doing this dinner at home. And very politely we share it with the "Wanna-Be" Italians who come there politely. If you want to enjoy perfect Italian Dining, you HAVE to go to a Chef Owner restaurant, and there is no better than Sette-Bello. Anyone with money can purchase a building, rent a location and hire a cook and provide them with recipes, but a Chef Owner, cooks from their heart."

  • "We were immediately greeted by the hostess and then the manager/owner came over to seat us. The decor was festive (for the holidays) and everything looked just like an Italian restaurant should. The by-the-glass wine selections covered 3 pages. The menu had several choices but I was waiting for the specials. I was impressed by our waiter Bob's ability to memorize the specials list - and what a list it was! I think there were more specials than there were menu items! My wife ordered the chopped salad and chicken Milanese and I ordered a Caesar salad and one of the fish specials. The Caesar salad was ok but everything else was incredible! My wife was impressed that she could never empty her water glass before someone refilled it."

  • "The menu is really small and does not have allot of variety or many interesting selections to choose from. Fortunately they offer a large selection of "specials" for appetizers and entrees, but their prices are not given when the waiter explains these choices. We ordered the veal chop and the pappardelle noodle with jumbo shrimp and white wine sauce from the list of "specials". Well the chop came in at $45 and the paster at $32. Both were good, but nothing special. I wouldn't have felt so bad about our overall experience because of the cost, but also because the service was SO BAD. They only had one cook and the service understaffed. Our dining experience took almost 2 1/2 hours, I kid you not. 30 minutes to order and 1.25 hours for dinner."
