Diner Reviews
  • "I enjoyed my visit to Session Kitchen. I was originally seated upstairs and thought it was a little dark for summer. We were re-seated downstairs and the atmosphere was much lighter. Booths sit low. Food was good. A little pricey for items. Loved the Kale Heart dish! Service was great, host was great, and wine was good too! Great spot for social occasions and dates! Will return to check out happy hour specials."

  • "Second time here did not disappoint. Menu has changed, but quality and thoughtfulness put into food has not. Came away fulfilled and happy to return again for a good time."

  • "Pros: Great service!!! Order the pork belly/watermelon small plate! Entrees were delicious (lamb collar, duck toast and eggplant waffles). Good recommendations from staff. Very attentive. Cons: we had a reservation. When we arrived, they walked us through an empty restaurant to the back, dark, far away upstairs... We felt like they were embarrassed of us! We should have asked to sit in a nicer booth. Do not order the stuffed avocado...you can make this at home and it's bland. Also the tuna steak was over cooked."

  • "Took my girlfriend here for our 1 year anniversary after I had searched on Google for best restaurants in Denver and this place popped up. We were not disappointed one bit."

  • "Great place for four or more people because of all the tasty small plates to share. The Brie corn bread is especially delicious. And the lamb collar, although sounds strange was tender and flavorful. The wait people were attentive and pleasant. No complaints."

  • "Food was inventive and wonderful. The service was top notch, Ryan was friendly and energetic. He explained the food in great detail and whet our appetite for each course. We normally don't have dessert, but he made it sound so good we ordered two. :) This is a place that we will be back to and will recommend to anyone we know."

  • "Went to this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Was looking for a moderately priced restaurant with good reviews. Found a review in 5280 that it was in their list of the top 25 best new restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and the portions were nicely sized. Would definitely go again. And the cronuts were fabulous!"

  • "Service really great, all staff friendly and attentive. We had all apps, all pretty tasty and generous. Nice atmosphere. Fun neighborhood place, not pretentious. Creative dishes."

  • "We wanted to try something new for brunch - so Session Kitchen was suggested by my daughter. We had been here before for dinner and lunch. Great choice! Loved the atmosphere with the open air to outside; we always enjoy the changing menu - and all options were great from the waffles, salmon club and eggs benedict. The service was great!"

  • "I went for brunch last weekend. I had Eggs Benedict with Tasso ham on crumpets. Delish - they make everything in house. My friend had a biscuit with house made jam, and scrambled eggs. We both had a marvelous cocktail with bourbon and blackberries. The whole menu looked great, so I plan to return soon. Our server was well versed in the menu and took good care of us. Our busboy made sure our water glasses were refilled - something that you don't notice unless it's not happening, so I appreciated his efforts. We ate on the patio, even though it was 95 degrees and it was still pleasant. The decor has a unique vibe - don't forget to check out the lighting over the bar."

  • "The staff was completely welcoming and knowledgable. From the moment I walked in we had an amazing experience from great staff to amazing food! I would totally recommend this place to anyone. I have already done that to a few friends of mine."

  • "Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service. The first lunch experience I would describe the food as OK. The second lunch experience I thought the food was very good. Menu offers new things you don't see on other menus. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Our second visit to Session Kitchen was for our anniversary. The menu changes, so what we had might not make it on your menu, but so far everything we've tried has been stellar. I recommend any sort of appetizer they have containing pork belly -- the first time, it was pork and pinapple skewers; the second time it was pork and watermelon. I wish I had the kind of palate that would predict pork, watermelon, and basil would make a good combo -- fortunately the chef does! If this has taught me anything, it's that you can safely venture out of your comfort zone at Session."

  • "go for a cocktail (the green drink is excellent) and the brie corn bread (basically fritters with melted brie inside) - insanely delicious. other tasty menu items: fried green tomatoes, chive gnocchi, chicago style tart."

  • "This place is always busy at night, but if you want to avoid the crowds head over at lunch time! They tailor the menu for lunch but many of the dinner items are still available. Great way to try it out and enjoy the outdoor seating in the beautiful CO weather."

  • "The restaurant is fun and welcoming with bright decor and high ceilings. The food was fairly creative and generally good (though the gnocchi did not impress anyone in our group), but the service left a lot to be desired. It was not crowded in the restaurant but felt like the waitress was difficult to find and not terribly attentive. After ordering the first bottle of wine, she came back 10 minutes later to tell us they no longer carried it or were out, same goes for the appetizer we tried to order (didn't tell us up front they were out, only mentioned they were out after we had combed the menu and decided what to order) then forgot one person's entree when delivering the rest. Disappointing service esp. considering the price point."

  • "Session Kitchen has delivered on our expectations twice now on taste and selections! We really enjoyed the food combinations (scallops & ramp starter, chicken liver mousse w/raspberry sauce to mention two), wine pairings and the eclectic atmosphere for our anniversary. Although our server was knowledgeable and attentive, when present, it felt like he had too many tables to serve us properly. We waited for our first glass of wine for quite some time after being seated/ordering. Our 2nd glass of wine ordered for main course and salad arrived when we were half done. On a Saturday night, the place looked almost full. Yet, for the prices, we'd expect attention to detail like wine timing to be just right. Complimentary dessert was a nice touch."

  • "empty restaurant. seems as though the menu change has ruined the appeal of this restaurant. food was mediocre. service was awkward. the drinks were very good, however."

  • "Food was just ok. I went here on opening night too, and I was hoping they had ironed out some of their kinks, but the food was just ok. Service was great, place was nice, but the food was too salty and just ok."

  • "Great wine list and service, but food was bland and not too exciting."

  • "I enjoyed my first trip to Sessions - though lack of signage made it a little hard to find. Love the garage style doors that bring the outdoors in and the style of the decorating inside. Good service, interesting food. We had small plates and they were good, especially the scallops. Wine was pricey at $15 per glass. A bit more expensive than we were expecting, but they kindly "comped" us on the fried peppers which were very, very hot. Still, for 2 drinks each and two small plates, we spent $120 with tip. I'll be back for sure."

  • "The food, drinks, service -- exceptional. Highly recommended. I think the bar gives the restaurant character adds a sense of excitement! Your imagination will wander in this place. Awesome experience."

  • "Just ate there this week and the food and service were outstanding. Do not miss the fried green tomatoes. Awesome. There is enough for two to share this appetizer. The lamb collar was an unusual offering and rated as one of the best lamb dishes ever. We ate too much to sample the desert items but will return soon to make sure we leave for them."

  • "This was our first time at Session Kitchen and we really enjoyed it. The menu had changed since it's last posting on Open Table and the server explained that they change it often - a good thing. We sat on the patio which is a perfect place to take in the vibe of Pearl Street. Everything we sampled was delicious. This chef is creating fun, tasty food. He knows what he is doing!"

  • "Creative, fantastic. Food choices. Service is impeccable. A member of our group must avoid dairy. Chef came out and offered to make alternative preparation of the guest's menu selection to substitute oil for butter. Amazing attention to customers and wonderfully tasty food."

  • "The food was creative and delicious! You have to think carefully and ponder the flavor combinations before you order. We had the Brie stuffed cornbread to start! Excellent!"

  • "The menu changes were so delicious. We really enjoyed the brisket buns, albacore tuna steak, and almost pad thai - killer additions! Standbys were still on the menu like the brie cornbread and olives and pickles loaded with goodies. Seasonal Rose by the glass and excellent value on by the bottle selections tonight for our first time guests. It was Memorial Day weekend Saturday, but still got busy. Service remained solid. Ryan is an excellent, attentive server. 5-sprinkle cronuts and the new gluten-free chocolate cake were just the ticket to finish the night. Another great session with friends. "

  • "Took a group of 8 here, most from out of town. Even the San Franciscans were very impressed by the food, the neighborhood, the service and the atmosphere. Great beer list and tremendous appetizers. Definitely recommend the scallops and the pork belly skewers. The lamb collar entree was like lamb carnitas, unbelievable and the Chicago tart is a very unique 'pizza'-type dish. Definitely recommended for a great dinner, a fun place to take people from out of town that is not in LoDo."

  • "Fiancee and I went there to celebrate a special night. Food was creative and flavorful, especially the brisket buns and the lamb collar, service was as good as you'll find in any high end dining. We highly recommend it."

  • "As a first time visitor to Session Kitchen I wasn't sure what to expect. In January, I became gluten free due to an intolerance and have had mixed results when dining out with friends. Session Kitchen was so thoughtful! They took their time explaining the menu and which items could be tweaked to become gluten free. We all enjoyed the gluten free cornbread and brie muffins; and I ordered the mussels and they were great. The chef/kitchen team even made me some special gluten free muffins that weren't on the menu to replace the ciabatta bread. Special thanks to the team for treating us so well. We'll definitely be returning"

  • "We’ve been fans of Chef Scott Parker for several years. Historically, Table 6 has been our neighborhood go-to restaurant. When we booked a table at Session, we weren’t looking for another Table 6. We realized that talented chefs are capable of exercising creativity in numerous ways. And it appears that’s what he’s done with Session. Unfortunately, however, this concept has failed. The restaurant is simply too large, which causes a feeling of disconnect between you, the staff, and other dinners. Moreover, the modern art décor is distracting, to say the least. The staff wasn’t knowledgeable about the wine list, and while the food was good, it seemed out of sync with the décor. "

  • "Every "session" contained the most wonderful and complex taste surprises. It was most unfortunate that we were not able to have a conversation. Our group of four could not hear each other thanks to a literally shouting group of 8 diners close to us. My rating for noise (above) does not touch the actual noise level. Once the group left the restaurant, we could at least hear each other, although the noise level remained unpleasant (but at least bearable). Your sauces are WONDERFUL (Butter Bay Scallops), but no spoons/serving spoons! We also didn't appreciate using only the small appetizer plates throughout our meal. They are fine for the small plates and salads, but salad-size plates would be far better for the savory sessions."
