The restaurant is poor. The food is poorly seasoned and oversalted to a point of being unedible. It seemed very clubby--if you don't know the owner or go frequently it is unfriendly---lots of attention to those tables and yours is ignored. This is my 3rd visit over several years. I won't go again.

The chef/owner has the most creative and delicious salads. It's fine dining and moderately priced. Also its location in Amenia, NY is next to Sharon, Ct. where we go to the theater summertime. So we dine at Severan first.

  • Fab food but kitchen fumes

We began with the lamb tart and then both had the duck so can only rate those dishes, however both were outstanding! I cannot recall a better duck preparation anywhere. As for the lamb tart, we wanted more of them but restrained ourselves. The setting is gorgeous, surrounded by beautiful gardens and the house is lovely. The only critique we would offer is that the kitchen smoke/fumes were a bit overwhelming and we noticed people at 4 different tables having coughing fits. It was fine in the bar, but by the end of dinner it was noticeable in the dining room. Our clothes and hair were saturated w/ cooking odors. It also was warm in there. Maybe they could open some windows or install a ventilation system? 5 stars if they do!

A wonderful restaurant in an idyllic setting! The food is similar to some of the best restaurants in NYC. The flavor combinations that Serge has put together are amazing and unique - I look forward to many more dinners here. If you are traveling around in this area of New York/Connecticut - you really should give Serevan a try! You won't be disappointed!

  • Worth the Trip

Although it's a 35 minute drive for us to Serevan it is always worth the trip. The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes are always delicious and are a nice change from the typical Italian or American fare we usually eat. The Falafel Platter appetizer is quite large and has a little of everything. The Chicken Bastilla is not on the Spring/Summer menu but it was a special and is one of my favorites. If you're looking for something different I would give Serevan a try, even if it's out of your way.
