  • Catering: Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by owner Susan Kaufman and Chef Josh Green. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, Maxine Holtzman, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.
  • Entertainment: Serafina offers live music every Tuesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings as well as Sunday brunch and the "First Wednesday" of every month. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

A word from Serafina
Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

The entire experience was incredible! This is the most authentic Italian food available in Seattle. Our server, Sarah, was incredibly passionate about all the meals. Every dish she described made your mouth water. Great for date nights and business meals. I've done both and it seems to get better each time!

Went on a beautiful Sunday evening in August. and all the tables were full, both indoors and out. The food was excellent, but slow. I think the kitchen was overwhelmed. Our server was attentive and apologetic. She gave us a free plate of bruschetta to share while we were waiting for our entrees. I would go back, and see if the service is faster another night. The food was definitely worth another try.

I like a busy and delicious restaurant, but the music the night we were at Serafina was so loud that we had a hard time holding a conversation at our table. It might have been that we were right under the speakers, but if that is the case the speakers should be moved, or a least calibrated for everyone.

We've been coming to Serafina for close to 15 years, and find it a sure bet for food, setting, and wine. It's perfect for taking out of town guests to show them a neighborhood place that still feels like old Seattle. The food is always outstanding, the service is unobtrusive but friendly, and the outdoor space is perfect for summer evenings. It's no wonder the place was packed on a mid-week evening.

Hmm. Calamari with Israeli couscous, the chubby kind, and other oddments, as the only protein appetizer? Sounds meager and filled out. I ordered the eggplant (melanzane), sliced thin and wrapped around feta cheese atop limp angel hair pasta. Okay but odd. I initially misjudged how much to cut and was barraged with rich flavors not necessarily in harmony, though the band playing that night definitely was. Lovely atmosphere and pleasant service.

Recommended to me by a long time resident foodie of Seattle. Great atmosphere and super service. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. They picked up on my desired speed of the meal right away. Great music throughout my time there although it was recorded-they have live music just not the night I went. Waitress made some great menu recommendations. Food & the cocktails were really good. Highly recommend the Pappardelle!

We were half an hour late for our reservation due to traffic and they were very gracious about it. They were out of the wine I wanted and substituted another bottle (which was delicious and more expensive) for the price of the bottle I requested. Food was delicious. Though I know the outdoor tables in the lovely courtyard were likely desired, we were not rushed. Lovely experience.

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch there recently on a beautiful day in Seattle. We were fortunate enough to grab seats on the patio in the back. She enjoyed the grilled Ahi Tuna and I had the Val d'Aosta ravioli. Both dishes brought back memories of a recent food and wine trip to Italy. The ambience, professional service, food preparation, cocktails were all superb. Serafina's is certainly a neighborhood gem, and even tho' we aren't local Eastlake residents, we vowed to return often.

This was the 4th and last time that we will dine at Serafina's. The very first time we dined at Serafina was several years ago and is was a wonderful experience; however, it seems to have gone downhill since then. This was one of the poorest experiences we have had in dining. I had the lasagna which was mediocre at best. My daughter had the duck which was a disappointment. My wife however, enjoyed her pork chop. The music was way too loud which added to a forgettable dining experience. We have dined at many "fine dining" establishments throughout Seattle and San Francisco. Unfortunately, it seems like the Canlis is the only fine dining establishment in Seattle that meets the standards that can be found in SF.

My S.O., her brother and sis-in-law, and I brunched at Serafina on my S.O.'s b-day. We have eaten at this neighborhood gem for many years and knew to expect a better-than-average experience ... and we had one. The food was generally very tasty, though the eggs in the salmon dishes were a bit dry, and the poached egg on my ham dish was more like soft boiled. All the eggs were over-cooked to some degree. We didn't let that keep us from devouring the food, however. One last niggling thing - the music. Oldies at Sunday brunch in an Italian themed restaurant just clashed. Some soft music of another, more appropriate theme would have been better. Fixing a few things would have earned Serafina all five stars for this meal.

We live across the street, and I am not sure why it took so long for us to finally go there. We had been to Cicchetti many times and even ventured to Serafina's bar for just drinks. We chose to go there for our three year anniversary dinner, and it was perfect. The food and the service were impeccable. We sat outside in the garden area and with the sun settings, it made for a romantic dinner to reminisce and on the past three years with the aid of an amazing spread of mussels in harissa, caprese salad, plin (pork and cabbage dumplings), and lasagna. Their drink menu was just as fantastic. We'll be back for their jazz Sunday brunch very soon.

I ordered the vegetable and bean soup and pasta Bolognese. the soup was marvelous, wonderful flavor. I am a soup lover (if it's good) and I wish I knew what spices or herbs were used, for my own cooking! The pasta sauce was too rich for me, but that is probably because I've been on a (modified) Paleo diet, and tasting fat has become aversive--should have had the mussels--I'm not faulting the restaurant. Service was excellent, very attentive. Did not have to ask for more coffee, nor look around for a not-to -be-seen waiter, even though the restaurant became very busy at lunchtime. It was refilled before I missed it! My friend did not know what wine ot order, and was given samples of three wines to choose from! Lovely gesture!

Delicious well presented fare in a cozy summer courtyard -- what could be better? From the bruschettas to the plin and the potato ravioli, my out of town guest and I had a wonderful dining experience. The charming courtyard evokes images of Europe but is at the same time very Seattle. The service was just the right balance of attentive and unobtrusive. Topped it all off with the silky cappucino pot de creme for a perfect summer evening. I've been to this spot several times and I will definitely be back. Never disappointing.

We had a lovely summer lunch outside in the courtyard. We were celebrating my sister's birthday. The soup of the day was delicious, and my sister had the vegetable salad. We all had the prix fixe lunch which is a great value at $16.95 for 2 courses. I had the pea vine risotto. My sister had the ravioli and my husband had the mussels. All were beautifully plated and excellent. Decent wine list too!

The service was fabulous from the very beginning to the end of the meal. Just based on service alone, we will be back to Serafina. During this experience, we were seated on the back patio and it was very cute. My only suggestion is that you don't sit outside if: you don't like sun (like some of our neighbors at a table nearby) or don't like being crowded. Brunch options had great flavors, salmon frittata and pork and polenta, and were great sizes for the prices.
