  • Catering: Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by owner Susan Kaufman and Chef Josh Green. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, Maxine Holtzman, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.
  • Entertainment: Serafina offers live music every Tuesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings as well as Sunday brunch and the "First Wednesday" of every month. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

A word from Serafina
Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Diner Reviews
  • "We came in for a late dinner. My wife just returned from Italy and had a meal that rivaled what she had there. Beautiful ambiance and the service was outstanding."

  • "We were half an hour late for our reservation due to traffic and they were very gracious about it. They were out of the wine I wanted and substituted another bottle (which was delicious and more expensive) for the price of the bottle I requested. Food was delicious. Though I know the outdoor tables in the lovely courtyard were likely desired, we were not rushed. Lovely experience."

  • "My friend and I had a wonderful lunch there recently on a beautiful day in Seattle. We were fortunate enough to grab seats on the patio in the back. She enjoyed the grilled Ahi Tuna and I had the Val d'Aosta ravioli. Both dishes brought back memories of a recent food and wine trip to Italy. The ambience, professional service, food preparation, cocktails were all superb. Serafina's is certainly a neighborhood gem, and even tho' we aren't local Eastlake residents, we vowed to return often."

  • "This was the 4th and last time that we will dine at Serafina's. The very first time we dined at Serafina was several years ago and is was a wonderful experience; however, it seems to have gone downhill since then. This was one of the poorest experiences we have had in dining. I had the lasagna which was mediocre at best. My daughter had the duck which was a disappointment. My wife however, enjoyed her pork chop. The music was way too loud which added to a forgettable dining experience. We have dined at many "fine dining" establishments throughout Seattle and San Francisco. Unfortunately, it seems like the Canlis is the only fine dining establishment in Seattle that meets the standards that can be found in SF."

  • "Our food was delicious and our server was very professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly."

  • "Serafina is by far the best Seattle can offer in Ambiance, Service and the most amazing flavors. We've eaten here many times and the chef and staff never fail to make the experience perfect. Definitely recommend to everyone."

  • "My S.O., her brother and sis-in-law, and I brunched at Serafina on my S.O.'s b-day. We have eaten at this neighborhood gem for many years and knew to expect a better-than-average experience ... and we had one. The food was generally very tasty, though the eggs in the salmon dishes were a bit dry, and the poached egg on my ham dish was more like soft boiled. All the eggs were over-cooked to some degree. We didn't let that keep us from devouring the food, however. One last niggling thing - the music. Oldies at Sunday brunch in an Italian themed restaurant just clashed. Some soft music of another, more appropriate theme would have been better. Fixing a few things would have earned Serafina all five stars for this meal."

  • "The restaurant is great, but I recommend the bar. There are always lively, interesting grown-ups for fun conversations. I mean, always. The bar is kind of magical."

  • "We live across the street, and I am not sure why it took so long for us to finally go there. We had been to Cicchetti many times and even ventured to Serafina's bar for just drinks. We chose to go there for our three year anniversary dinner, and it was perfect. The food and the service were impeccable. We sat outside in the garden area and with the sun settings, it made for a romantic dinner to reminisce and on the past three years with the aid of an amazing spread of mussels in harissa, caprese salad, plin (pork and cabbage dumplings), and lasagna. Their drink menu was just as fantastic. We'll be back for their jazz Sunday brunch very soon."

  • "I ordered the vegetable and bean soup and pasta Bolognese. the soup was marvelous, wonderful flavor. I am a soup lover (if it's good) and I wish I knew what spices or herbs were used, for my own cooking! The pasta sauce was too rich for me, but that is probably because I've been on a (modified) Paleo diet, and tasting fat has become aversive--should have had the mussels--I'm not faulting the restaurant. Service was excellent, very attentive. Did not have to ask for more coffee, nor look around for a not-to -be-seen waiter, even though the restaurant became very busy at lunchtime. It was refilled before I missed it! My friend did not know what wine ot order, and was given samples of three wines to choose from! Lovely gesture!"

  • "Delicious well presented fare in a cozy summer courtyard -- what could be better? From the bruschettas to the plin and the potato ravioli, my out of town guest and I had a wonderful dining experience. The charming courtyard evokes images of Europe but is at the same time very Seattle. The service was just the right balance of attentive and unobtrusive. Topped it all off with the silky cappucino pot de creme for a perfect summer evening. I've been to this spot several times and I will definitely be back. Never disappointing."

  • "We had a lovely summer lunch outside in the courtyard. We were celebrating my sister's birthday. The soup of the day was delicious, and my sister had the vegetable salad. We all had the prix fixe lunch which is a great value at $16.95 for 2 courses. I had the pea vine risotto. My sister had the ravioli and my husband had the mussels. All were beautifully plated and excellent. Decent wine list too!"

  • "The service was fabulous from the very beginning to the end of the meal. Just based on service alone, we will be back to Serafina. During this experience, we were seated on the back patio and it was very cute. My only suggestion is that you don't sit outside if: you don't like sun (like some of our neighbors at a table nearby) or don't like being crowded. Brunch options had great flavors, salmon frittata and pork and polenta, and were great sizes for the prices."

  • "This is always a great choice for dinner, but this particular visit everything on the menu looked delicious. It was the best preparation of halibut I've ever had"

  • "We have eaten at Serafina before, but never for brunch. We went there on Father's Day and it was a great experience! The dishes they offer range from a safe (but delicious!) eggs and bacon, to what I would describe as a soup containing poached eggs and vegetables and the most delicous broth ever! All our meals were fabulous, the service was attentive, and the live music added a special touch. I would highly recommend Serafina for any dining occasion!"

  • "Nicely prepared food and great wine suggestions. Don't pass up the mussels or fish specialties. The eggplant dish is truly a standout. Fun bistro atmosphere."

  • "This is one of our musts when visiting Seattle - on a Wednesday night it was bustling, and the food was incredible, as usual. Desserts also fantastic and a notable wine list. Check out more reviews on Twitter: @foodandcork"

  • "Overall very nice. Steak was a little overdone, but still tastey. Other items ordered from the menu were very good. I would definitely go back. Service was extraordinary."

  • "It was our 7 year anniversary, I called and asked if they could help with getting flowers delivered to the table before our arrival and they did thank you for helping. Amazing food , amazing drinks, and the service was awesome!"

  • "We had a very nice dinner at Serafina on a Saturday night, which happened to be our anniversary. We ordered all but the salad course (and the Barbera from an Italian-centric list) from the daily specials. The duck breast was perfectly cooked (rare) and tasty, with a delicious rhubarb-based sauce and thinly sliced summer squash. The dish could have used a starch. My wife ordered the pasta al Amatriciana, which was appropriately spicy but a bit over the top with garlic (I don't believe that Amatriciana traditionally has any garlic.) There was a long wait between the salad and main courses, which was the only other sour note. I marked this down on the service rating, although the servers themselves were very attentive."

  • "We went to celebrate my wife's birthday, and had a great experience. Had duck and steak, served to perfection. The service was excellent, and the site manager even came over to taste the wine we had brought with us. We were seated outdoors (very nice), and could hear the Saturday night jazz in the background. All in all , a wonderful, memorable evening with my family !"

  • "From the hostess to our amazing server, My wife and I had an incredible time at Serafina. We wanted to wait to get outside seating because it was such a good night outside and they made it very easy. The bartender made a good old fashion and cosmo for my wife. While outside the ambience and staff was amazing. I got the spaghetti and my wife got the eggplant parm. I typically don't like eggplant and had to have at least three bites of her plate, it was that good. After the meal and as the sun was setting we peaked around the corner to see the view when the manager of the sister restaurant Cicchetta told us to follow him upstairs to get a better view. Just all around great place and people. A++++++"

  • "My wife and I were in Seattle for just the night and wanted to end a busy day with something other than just dinner, which for us ideally would be some live jazz and a cold martini. A quick internet search suggested Sarafini, which was only a couple miles from the hotel. We reserved a table on open table with a note that we would like to be able to enjoy the music. When we arrived, they were setting a large enough table that we could both see the musicians - nice touch. The music was nice but the server and the food stole the show from the beginning all the way through. Everything was just excellent and the stuff were engaging and interesting without being too attentive. We will be back."

  • "One of our favorite Seattle spots. The mussels are the best and the courtyard dining is a true secret garden in the city. "

  • "I have never been disappointed by Serafina. I bring new people there all the time, and everyone loves it. The food, wine and staff are all top notch. And, when you can, the seating outside is practically unmatched in Seattle. It's incredible. Run don't walk to Serafina. "

  • "We've eaten at Serafina several times. I love the atmosphere, the lemon drop cocktail, pasta dishes, the bruschetta and the dessert special was moist, not too rich and and not too much. Highly recommend, but make a reservation."

  • "Great little spot! Always good food, good service and something different to try! Who knew a braised lamb shoulder with a poached egg would be so good!! "

  • "My husband used to come to Serafina years ago but stopped because one night the hostess was rude. There are so many good restaurants in Seattle, we had no trouble finding other spots where the staff were polite. We gave Serafina another try for our anniversary and found the food was not up to Serafina's past standards. Our server was very enthusiastic, and the service overall was excellent- no rude hostess this time- but my pasta dish was too salty. My husband ordered one of the specials- salt cod and lobster in triangle ravioli- and it didn't taste like Italian food. It simply tasted weird. So it will probably be another 13 years before we try Serafina again. "

  • "The food and service was great but the noise level made conversation difficult, so I won't return for that reason."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "Everything was enjoyable. Perfectly prepared and excellent service. We had a special coupon so the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the brunch would be too expensive at regular price. We would only consider it for special occasions without the special."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "I've been to Serafina three times now, and it's always been excellent. We save it for special occassions, but the food is fantastic and everyone is friendly and helpful."

  • "We eat at Serafina just about every time we visit Seattle, which is every couple of months, and it's always like coming home. The staff is so friendly and welcoming! The food is always excellent, great wine list and great service. Serafina is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere."

  • "Lucky to have a beautiful night and lucky to have eaten outside on the garden patio! The food was great-my husband had the halibut which he loved (great presentation too) and I had the lasagna...lasagna that was light and with great flavor. Service was terrific. We loved eating outside (they have heaters if it turns chilly). The inside restaurant was a bit loud for us but outside it was quiet and beautiful. What a treat to enjoy great food in great surroundings."

  • "We were seated promptly for Sunday brunch. (We had reservations.) Unfortunately, we were seated right adjacent to the live music and couldn't hear each other during normal conversation. We were promptly moved to a far-away table after making the request to be moved. Even at that, the venue is quite loud with normal conversation levels. The two enticing menu options we ordered were quite good, and the service was decent, though it took a while to get coffee, which was only warm when poured. Overall, the experience was good, but Serafina's tidying up of a few loose ends could make it great."

  • "Third time we have been to Serafina and it's always delicious with personable service. I had the Plin which is: House-made agnolotti filled with braised pork, savoy cabbage and Parmigiano Reggiano; finished with chive butter. I had our server recommend a glass of wine to pair with it. The first glass was corked, so he promptly replaced it and it was a wonderful pairing. I can't recall what it was, but the point here is that the server was very helpful, professional, and made the overall experience great!"
